Thank you for writing this. I may link to it from my (online-only) webpage at NegativeChristian.Church if you don’t mind. I am trying to catalog the mistakes that Christian / Catholic churches have made in the past, which seems like an unending task; so I am trying to take the “1 mile view” of the matter so readers don’t lose perspective of my reason for pointing out these mistakes. Which is actually to suggest that the Christian faith as a whole is a noble yet error-prone culture. I suggest that the Abrahamic religions have contributed to more unfortunate circumstances (eg “done more evil things”) than the rest of the world’s religions combined, all in the name of the God of Abraham. Hoarding the riches born of the Holocaust while continuing the Nazi tradition of calling Jewish people greedy is a patently Catholic/Christian tradition, I’m afraid to say.

There is a fairly concentrated effort to hide this sort of thing by those who practice modern monotheism. For instance, within the Muslim community there is a denial that bin Laden was at all religious- at least when making comments that non-Muslims might hear. The same phenomena happens within Christian communities when discussing Hitler or the Nazis. For example, take a look at the “Conservapedia” site’s article on Socialism; which claims that the Nazis were “atheistic” rather than mentioning the census data on the topic- which shows that they were 97.5% Christian, rather than 0.0%. Even wikipedia’s article on the religious views of Hitler makes use of an enormous amount of “private conversations” that notable Christians have made with Hitler about how much he hated the Christianity or was a “Pagan occultist”, rather than his publicly stated zealous support for Christianity in some of the world’s first globally televised speeches and similar support and zealotry in Mein Kampf.

That socialism article is one of conservapedia’s most viewed articles, and my attempts to correct the mistake were less than fruitful. While not a fan of the trajectory that Marx envisioned for socialism to follow (eg violent revolution, then Communism), I am a fan of truth. Fiction is a good way to portray truth when it is too controversial to otherwise mention- but I would boldly suggest that intentional bald-faced lies are a recourse of unwise, unfaithful, or immature zealots, regardless of the position they are intending to promote. Often this backfires, but in my mind- not often enough. The conservapedia’s neglect to mention that Einstein and MLK Jr were proudly self-described socialists is also intentional, and their removal of commentary in the “talk” section means that the admin engage this willingly and cover their trail deceptively while doing so.

None of this suggests that socialism is a good idea, only that those who run that site think that lies and deception are necessary to combat an economic system that they seem to believe is the root of all modern evil, including the holocaust. I make the claim that religious intolerance of early Christians gave rise to the prevalence of slavery in the Western world, and when slaves started converting to Christianity- the plantation/slave owners realized that another system of intolerance was needed to promote their interests / keep black men and women subordinate, as well as Jewish folks and even Catholics in the Bible Belt at the time. All three groups were lynched by the KKK, which was 6 million strong in the 1920s.

With 2.2 billion Believers on the planet in 2021, it is unsurprising that the militant “Positive” Christian attempts to re-write history (while sowing the self-fulfilling prophecy of “Evil”) have been largely successful. Countering that and also the “eye for an eye” violent implications of said prophecy is why “Negative” Christianity is necessary.
