I am afraid that I must agree with Desmond. I understand that you are trying to reach others, but I feel sure with all of the information that you have given us on the catholic church, surely your studies have lead you into the paganestic roots and catholic influences of christ – mass (“Cristes Maesse”, an early English phrase that means “Mass of Christ.”).
We as christians can’t be all things to all people, we must first and foremost follow scripture-
“Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil: neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgement..” Ex 23:2
“And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.” Eph 5:11
In promoting the merriment of christmas, you are endorsing the celebration of it. If you were opposed to it, why would you wish anyone a “merry christmas”?
I hope that you will take this repsonse in the spirit that it is meant and that is of love but also of truth. You do such a good job providing us with much needed information, I just hope you will understand what I am trying to say.

I would say Ivar is right. He is teaching the unbiblicalness of Christmas, but not being a downer on everybody else. Paul’s message in Corinthians is that it’s ok to participate in anything you want to participate in, even idolatry, as long as you don’t believe in the idolatry or lead anyone else to believe in it. Because the word of God is the living word of Christ who judges the thoughts and attitudes of men.

I celebrate the birth of the Messiah every day.
In the Lutheran traditions, the celerations starts at 4.PM on 24th of December, which is sun set mid-winters time. Its like a holy sabbath. 100 per cent, let them be secular or religious Norwegians, lay down their works and join the family dinner table at 6.pm.
This evening, they will all sing some songs where the name of Jesus is honored. A great oportunity for all Christians to share their faith with non-christian family members. May God of Israel be honored.

Most people think Christmas is a celebration in favor of Christ.
Let us return to the Christmas Gospel.
It tells us that after listening to the Angel’s message, the shepherds said one to another: “Let us go over to Bethlehem” they went at once” (Lk 2:15).
“They made haste” is literally what the Greek text says. What had been announced to them was so important that they had to go immediately.
What had been said to them was utterly out of the ordinary. It changed the world. The Saviour Jesus Christ is born. The long-awaited Son of David has come into the world in his own city.
What could be more important?
Well it seems that Jesus being Son of God was more important than him being Son of David. In (lk 2) it says Joseph was a descendant of David but it doesn’t say Mary was. If Mary wasn’t then Jesus being a descendant of David was by adoption.
Mark 10:47
47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
The Son of David is a prophetic title for the coming Messiah. It is a title, not literal.
Jeremiah 23:5
Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.
If you read the first chapter of Matthew, you will see the full genealogy from Abraham to David to Christ.
Off course is Jesus the Son of God.
I think Jesus is Son of David by adoption, an antitype of people becoming God’s people by adoption.
Romans 8:23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies.

Maybe she’s right not to want us to think mass is a perpetuation of the last supper. Jesus never said to perpetuate the last supper. His command was to “do this in remembrance of me”, not do this in remembrance of the night I was betrayed.
1 cor 11:24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
So why would the Pope want you to remember the Last Supper instead of remembering Christ? Because, If you did as Christ commanded it would follow that those he told to break bread and pass wine would do it, and everybody would be doing it. But with a slight of hand, a simple twist and perversion of scripture the pope has you remembering the Last Supper. And the last supper had the head of the table, the Holy Father breaking the bread and passing the wine. So by remembering the last supper the Pope creates a need for a head of table to pass out the bread and wine, even blasphemously calling himself the Holy Father, contrary to scriptural command.
Matt 23:9 And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.
Malachi 1:11 ” For from the rising of the sun to its setting my name is great among the nations, and in every place incense is offered to my name, and a pure offering; for my name is great among the nations, says the LORD of hosts.”
The Mass is the sacrifice of the New Law in which Christ, through the ministry of the priest, offers Himself to God in an unbloody manner under the appearances of bread and wine.
CCC 2643 The Eucharist contains and expresses all forms of prayer: it is “the pure offering” of the whole Body of Christ to the glory of God’s name and, according to the traditions of East and West, it is the “sacrifice of praise.”
Holy Scripture itself, corrects the misconceptions and mistranslations of Matthew 23:9.
A priest is a spiritual “Father”, as your blood father is your natural father…
Judges 17:10, “Stay with me, Micha said to him. Be Father and Priest to me…”
Judges 18:19, “Come with us and be our Father and Priest.”
Acts 13:17, “…people of Israel chose our fathers…”
Romans 4:1-18, Abraham is called “Father” seven times in these verses.
Romans 9:10, “Isaac our father…”
1John 2:13, “I am writing to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have conquered the evil one.”
Isaiah 22:21-22, “…and he shall be as a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah. And I will lay the key of the house of David upon his shoulder; and he shall open and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.” These verses are a prefigurement of the papacy – Peter being the first Pope. Read Matthew 16:19
In John 6:49, Jesus Himself said, “Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness and are dead.” Jesus said call no man your father in Matthew 23:9, and here he calls their ancestors “Fathers”. Is this a conflict?
No, I don’t see it as a conflict, it shows a change of times. Before Jesus they were subject to those Priests or Fathers, but Jesus took their place. “The Truth shall set you free” They were no longer subject to earthly “Fathers”
Gal 4:1 What I am saying is that as long as an heir is underage, he is no different from a slave, although he owns the whole estate. The heir is subject to guardians and trustees until the time set by his father. So also, when we were underage, we were in slavery under the elemental spiritual forcesa of the world. But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.
GOD has given authority to several people in the Bible. He signifies the passing of authority by changing the name of the person.
1. GOD renamed Abram to Abraham when He made him the ‘Father of a Multitude of Nations’ in Gen 17:5.
2. GOD renamed Sara to Sarah when He made her the ‘Mother of Nations’ in Gen 17:15-16.
3. GOD renamed Jacob to Israel, the name of the Jewish Nation, and he became the first Israeli in Gen 35:10.
4. GOD renamed Simon to Peter. Peter was given the authority by GOD, and GOD renamed him to emphasize it.
In Mt 16:19, Jesus Christ gave Peter even more authority. He gave him, and none other, the ‘keys to the kingdom of heaven’, and told him, “Whatever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” A lot of authority was given in these two verses to Simon, now Peter, a mere creature of GOD.
“Father figures”, are all throughout Holy Scripture.
You can readily see that GOD always provided a “Father Figure” on earth to shepherd His people.
GOD is the invisible head of His people, and His “Father Figure” is the visible head.
It is no different today.
GOD is the same yesterday, today and forever. The truth never changes.
The KEY is the symbol of authority as shown in Isaiah 22. The KEYS of authority were given by Jesus Christ to the first Pope, Saint Peter, and to him alone.
“And I will give thee the KEYS of the Kingdom of Heaven; and whatever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
Matthew 16:19.
Isaiah 22:20-24 prefigures the key given to Saint Peter.
Jesus called Peter Satan too. So for some perhaps they need to be under the curse of the Law and have guardians, towing along those heavy stones of Moses that were so easily broken. But for others Christ is all the authority they need.
Matt 16:23 Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”
You have to notice that all this happened BEFORE Jesus resurrection and the Apostles receiving the Holy Spirit.
Therefore Peter at that particular time although understood that Jesus WAS the Son of GOD and THE Messiah, did not understand Jesus mission on earth. He still thought like all jews that the messiah would remain here on earth and become their king.
Fast forward to the moment just prior to Jesus ascension to Heaven and listen Him speaking to Peter:
He asks Peter… “Peter, do you love me?” Peter responds that indeed he loves him. Jesus replies, “feed my sheep”
Three times HE did this. Jesus entrusted HIS sheep to Peter.
We can all play the hands of God or the hands of Satan at one time or another in our lives. Not all popes have been angels, for example. But God knows our hearts, and our need for chastisement, repentance, and renewal continuously, and Jesus certainly knew Peter’s heart-and how things would proceed from there.
While I look into the “feed my sheep” lines. What makes you think Peter left everything to the pope? It seems pretty obvious the pope could be a self proclaimed inheritor of Peter. Also they never called Peter Father, no less Holy Father. So if all your talking about is an authority for human purposes that still fits into the job description of Satan, only concerned with human matters. And the Pope sure is Political. Even Ceasar had temporal power but they were not calling him Holy Father.
I guess the pope has as much right as anyone to feed Jesus’s sheep. Anybody can do good if they want too. But some shepherds seem to get fat off the sheep.
Ezekial 34:10 This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against the shepherds and will hold them accountable for my flock. I will remove them from tending the flock so that the shepherds can no longer feed themselves. I will rescue my flock from their mouths, and it will no longer be food for them.
It says by the “feed my sheep” line Jesus was telling Peter how he would die. Making good on Peter’s promise he would die for Christ, saying he loved Jesus three times to undo the three times Peter denied Jesus rather than be turned over and killed. So what your saying is the Pope killed Peter and took his clothes which makes him the rightful leader of Christianity?
I guess your understanding of the word KEYS and the Catholic Church understanding of the word KEYS used in the Old Testament and New Testament is different.
Probably. “Keys” is closely related to Peters confession of Christ, Peter being the first of the disciples to say that Jesus was the Christ. By your confession of Christ you’re bound for heaven. The catholic church believes Jesus meant he would build the church on Peter, but I believe he meant he would build his church on the confession of Christ. The confession of Christ is the key to being bound. If you’re bound on Earth your bound for heaven..etc. That is supported in the rest of scripture, not just some anamaly created by the catholic church. Written in the book of life, crossed out of the book of life, etc. according to your belief in the Son.
I think also the parable about the Keys to heaven and hell was eluding to the Gentiles being grafted in. At that point no Gentiles had been baptized, Peter was the first to baptize Gentiles. At the beginning of the parable they’re all fishing on the one side of the boat not catching anything, Jesus tells them to cast the net on the other side of the boat and they make a big haul. So the Jewish side was fished out, but on the other side of the boat was full of Gentiles.
Most of the world calling themselves Christian are not getting into the WORD to see if what these preachers say is why they don’t understand that only the Sabbath was made HOLY that it would never change. Yet the pope forced sunday on all people, the one saying we can be all to anyone, they best remember we are to tell them the truth three times and if they refuse the truth, turn way. with G-d saying how HE hates paganism and traditions of men and called them snakes and vipers..and to put HIS NAME on a Pagan holiday ,,not in my house..that is one thing G-d will never put up with. when Moses came down off the mountian and found them worship the golden Idol, G-d killed them..HE warns of the true that don’t talk or walk . no one will have anexcuse.. no one…the old name for Passover all worldly, but oh how they all love it watching it on tv , it was all over..santa this and that, people going into debt, sex drugs and rock and roll. what does darkness have to do with light. nothing. and with the beautiful Hanukkah to celebrate.. but all would love this drunken for most holiday.
