It’s all in the translation. Cross is used many times in the bible, there’s no question the bible says cross. But according to wikipedia the original word that was used was staurus which they say was commonly known as a stake for crucifixion, no cross piece. The hands would have been nailed over the head. And the old testament prophesies just say hung from a tree, which could mean anything made of wood.

I do not see the point in questioning the Hebrew word “tav”. This word express a wooden cross. Please remember that Greek was not the original language of the Hebrews. But the Hebrews were influenced by pagan Greek rulers, and many Jews lived as slaves in the Hellenistic diaspora.
The Greek word “stauros” has meant different things trough the ages. In Norwegian we have the word “staur”. That can be a pole, but can take many forms. But a “staur” is surely a long piece of a wood. Not of metal, but formed out of a tree.

I have been on Ivar’s blog for about a year or two now, and have witnessed name calling as such: stupid, idiots, etc.
I highly doubt that Jesus Christ wants us to approach anyone this way, no matter who is yelling, screaming, or cursing at us. It is wrong, it is not the way I raise my children, nor is it the way Jesus Christ wants us to teach.

Let me tell you a quick story: I used to live in the projects, which is considered a horrific area filled with drug addicts, and violence. One day when I was 12, I was returning from church, and as I walked up the pathway into my building, a young man about 18 was staring, his gaz filled with such hatred. I grabbed my Bible tighter as he started calling me names, and Jesus showed me that he was possessed by a demon.
What kind of person would that make me if I called him names back, and stooped to his level? What kind of person would I be if I didn’t show compassion, when Jesus Christ himself is merciful?
FYI: To be called ignorant means lacking knowledge. There are many things I lack knowledge of, and still have yet to learn. To be called “stupid” is an entirely different insult.

Don’t put words in my mouth that I never said, Gloria, in a futile and immature attempt to win an argument.
If you want to express your opinion, which is just that — YOUR OPINION — then do so, but stop trying to be the “hall monitor” of everyone.
Jesus boldly contended for the faith in all different styles depending on who He was talking to. If your personal ministry style is to be “kind and loving at all times no matter what” — good luck with that — but don’t project your error and unbiblical opinions onto others.

We were discussing treating each other with respect, and to lead as an example at the same time we preach the Word of God. That’s the heart of the discussion. You said most are contending for the faith. Up earlier, there was a poster who called another poster stupid. I said that was not contending for the faith- insulting someone.

If we lead our lives with the Word of God in our hand, then we can yes, ask ourselves at the moment of trouble, “what would Jesus have done, or what would he want us to do.” And prayer can lead us even closer to God, to find out what he would like us to do.
As to me telling others how they should interpret scripture; though I have taken Bible study for many years, there are areas of the Bible that I am still unclear of, and still am learning to this very day. When I am confused about a verse or verses, I ask questions and look for guidance in believers of Jesus Christ. I would never tell anyone you should read God’s word my way. Who am I to do such a thing? No one. God’s Word should be read and understood as exactly that; God’s Word.
I’m curious. Can I ask why you are so defensive and continue to feel like you should put me down? You have called my opinions shallow, “Gloria’s way”, I’m assuming you think I’m also a “clone in Jesus” though for the life of me, I don’t know what that means.

The mention of the “she” in the garden of Eden, is a prophecy of the planned nation of Israel, who will bring forth the Messiah. The serpent was not crushed by the mother of Jesus, but by the Son of God on the cross.

I have not turned a religious Jew, but is a goyim that enjoy observing the Sabbath.
You can have your Sabbath on a Sunday if that is more convenient. I do, and will continue to worship Jesus with the brethren on Sundays too.
But at least rest on that day, and keep it Holy. I have been in Israel, and some Jews provoke me to jealousy. I wish we in the East and West, had desired to obey the Lord in regards to the Sabbath commandment too.
