Pope Benedict XVI on Malta: I am «pleased» to be able to pray before her «as a sign of our shared filial affection for the Mother of God».
The Pope turned to Marianism on his visit to Malta. He asked that she be prayed to as «Queen of the Family», a title introduced by Pope John Paul II to the Litany of Loreto.
Together with the faithful in Floriana’s Granaries Square, the Holy Father prayed the Regina Coeli in Malta on Sunday. Before the recitation of the Marian prayer with thousands of Maltese on Sunday, he acknowledged Malta’s particular devotion to Mary and presented a special gift to Our Lady of Ta’ Pinu.
The prayer took place just after Sunday morning Mass celebrated in the same square, the largest on the island. For the celebration, a painting of the Virgin was brought to the square from the island of Gozo for the occasion from the Shrine of Our Lady of Ta’ Pinu.
Recalling the Maltese tradition of trust in the Blessed Virgin Mary for protection and prayer intentions, the Holy Father recognized the «great fervor» with which the people of Malta express their devotion to the virgin.

The Pope has called the Catholic Church to repentance, because the leadership of the Church has hidden Pedophile priests. But is stead of asking God the Father for pardon and mercy, the Pope put his faith in paganism.
There is not a single word in the Bible that says that Mother Mary is the Queen of the Family. Neither is there any Bible verse that permits Christians to pray in her name, and that she will show them favor.
To the radical opposite, the Bible warns us not to pray in any other name than Jesus. When we elevate the Jewish mother of Jesus the pagan «Queen of Heaven» we mock the living God, and bring a curse down on our own head.
The children gather wood, the fathers light the fire, and the women knead the dough and make cakes of bread for the Queen of Heaven. They pour out drink offerings to other gods to provoke me to anger.
1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.
