Bible studies # 25: How to recognize the Holy Spirit among all kinds of spirits

There are many kinds of Spirits that man will have to encounter. We have to avoid being taken for a ride with something else than the Holy Spirit of God. Our God is one God. And the spirit in One God.

On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came in form of visual flames. If its happens again, it will be Biblical.
On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came in form of visual flames. If this happens again, it will be Biblical.

Let me divide the main categories into three.

Worldly Spirit.

The Worldly Spirits will tell you to focus on this World. People who are following this kind of Spirits, will be full of all kind of fleshy desires. This kind of spirits comes from the same source. The Prince of the World.

Copy-cat Holy Spirits.

There will also be present unclean spirits claiming to the the Holy Spirit. Some of them can easily be recognized as Worldly spirits. Some of them very religious, all of them claiming to know Jesus the Messiah.

But not all copy-cat Holy Spirits is promoting worldliness There are also forms of spirituality that is disconnected from most kinds of worldly focus, but is still not based on the truth. One such spirit comes from Hinduism, and its called the Spirit of Kundalini. This kind of Spirit is linked to the practice of yoga, and often used to heal people. This spirit has also come into Christianity, and creates confusion and division.

The true Holy Spirit.

John 14:26

But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

The difference between the Holy Spirit and all kind of copy-cat spirits, is that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth. Jesus said: I am the truth. The Holy Spirit will never add anything to His teachings, nor contradict Him, but remind us about everything He taught. The Holy Spirit also have a prophetic function. It will tell us of things to come. The Bible still have prophetic messages that has not yet been fulfilled. Like:

Philippians 2:10-12:

«that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father».

When I tell you that this will happen on the event on the return of Jesus the Messiah, I become a true prophet, lead by the Spirit of truth. First on the day all prophetic Words are fulfilled, there will no longer be a need of the gift of prophecy.

Lets again take a look of what Jesus said, and what He did not say in one single verse:

John 14:26

But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

This is a simple basic Biblical truth. The Holy Spirit will never appear in contraction to the behavior of Jesus, or contradict His teaching.

A copy-cat will come and add strange human behavior, that has no base in the scripture. Suddenly John 14:26 has been falsified to sound like:

«But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will bring manifestations into your assemblies, and confirm its power and holiness by believers behavior, not necessarily earlier confirmed as a true manifestation in the Bible».

This is a dangerous lie, and a typical statement of a teacher that has brought in a copy cat Holy Spirit: Here are some examples:

1. Gold dust manifestations

There is the phenomenon of gold-dust falling on the hands, arms or hair of those at the meetings, while some claimed that fillings in their teeth turned into gold!

2. Drunk in the Spirit.
«New Wine» meetings where people experience typical symptoms of drunkenness.

3. Animal noises.
There was no need for Baalam to act like a donkey because the Spirit of God used his donkey to speak to him. Such abnormal behavior can be barking like a dog, crowing like a rooster and roaring like a lion.

4. Holy laughter.
To act senseless, will never be a manifestations of the Holy Spirit. In our assembly there are sometimes people who fall into uncontrollable laughter. Scaring both new believers and non-believers.

It is not difficult to see how ideally this suits Satan’s purpose to discredit the Christian faith and deceive as many as he can.

Teachers who bring in copy-cat Holy Spirits will pass on demons from person to person like a virus. This is dangerous times. Test all Spirits, and do not let any one put his hand on you, before you are sure that the concerned person is a true follower of Jesus.

1 John 4:1

Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

  1. HI again. You said you were going to do a piece on this and I see you have! 🙂 Nice work – easy to read and understand!

    1. Dear sister.

A new born Christian will get a new heart, new attitudes, and a desire to keep his promises. The last one will be a fruit of the Holy Spirit that can be spotted.

Thats why I have to disagree with Christian brothers and sisters, who claim that infants will display these kind of fruits. John the Baptist demanded fruit of repentance. If not, He refused to immerse people in the Jordan river.

      Keep up the good work.

      1. Hi
As someone who has had his kundalini awakened spontaneously and going through the growing pains that anyone with the lack of knowledge what kundalini was before it happened….. I wonder… What kind of repentance would you wish that an infidel with no remorse towards any religion like me should do, and to who?
Where does this fear of Kundalini come from?
The fact that another religion used a different definition of the exact same thing which is in the core of Christianity?
What is the core of Christianity?
        What does Christ mean?

Reaching Christ Consciousness. It doesn’t matter what flag or name it runs under, it goes for the same. The only thing one achieves by demonizing something one does not understand is to create division and suspicion.

I have yet to see any “born again Christians” having become better persons after their conversion. They have just become more holier than thou. With a greater eagerness to have others partake in their new found religious ego trip. They call themselves Christians, but keep worshipping a character named Jesus… not realizing that Christ is not a name..but a state of mind and heart.
I have met people who have gone through their Kundalini process, or going through them. They have an entire different vibration within them than anyone whose minds and souls are still in the chains of organized dogma. If anything, my experience with the kundalini woken is far more Christ like than any Christian fundamentalist whose minds are so closed that only their narrative is the correct one, where they condemn their fellow man to some physical hell their little minds can conjure up because people didn’t worship Jesus…they just acted like a Christ figure without claiming biblical authority or church narrative.

Just before I wrote my last paragraph, I was pondering the possibility of kundalini being contagious to everyone, or if one has to have the right mindset and attitude towards the person if it will have any effect through human touch.
If the first is what is, the reaction to the Christian or muslim being effected will be priceless. All of a sudden, all your old delusions are about to crumble..fall like a house of cards with just a fart in the wind and a human touch.
And the more people that will be awakened, and unshackle themselves from the old chains of religion, capitalism, fear, nationalism, cultism, and racism, bigotry, sexual repression and tribalism, the less chance for the old dogmas have for survival. Good bye old world and destructive mindsets. Welcome new world and a new mindset…
It is what it is.. One can fight it and manifest violence, war and oppression and destroy this planet in the process, or one can welcome the changes and be a part of it…
How do you fight someone who has gone through the entire Kundalini process, smiling back in your eyes… shaking your hands… shaking off your old delusions with a tough of a hand and a few well chosen words?

I see you are from Norway..
It happens that I am Norwegian by birth.. .Cosmopolitan at heart. Would you take the challenge and try to convert me to your dogma, risking to lose yours in the process?
How strong is your faith and the notion that you are right and I am a dangerous heretic who you need to protect yourself from?
I’ll be looking to hear from you. I will stake my Kundalini against your entire dogmatic illusion. I am ready to put my money where my mouth is. Are you ready to put your faith in yours? Let me know if you’re in or around Oslo. You might have a life changing and faith shattering encounter…

  2. Dear Ivar,

It may not be as simple as that. Remember the old adage, “Satan cannot create, only duplicate”? That is an adage with much wisdom.
Satan can even copy “tongues of fire” if he wants, but he would never be able to find it in his heart the first time, because he has not creativity/fantasy in his heart.
Now, like you I am sceptical as to what is said to be “gold” and “manna” that shows up in meetings, not because I don’t believe God can do it, but why? I believe God would rather heal a tooth completely that insert a gold one. And the mamma? We’ve read about it, and it most certainly is for real, but we only have descriptions of it, and it didn’t keep over 24 hours.
But about laughter I am not so sure. Of course satan can laugh, and make people laugh, but people laughed uncontrollably in other revivals too, both during Wesley, Laestadius and Booth, there was at times crazy laughter. This has been documented.
But when it comes to animal sounds I tend to agree with you, but I will not write it totally off. It might be just soulish.

    1. Dear Lars-Toralf.

      Shalom.

      1 Corinthians 14:33
For God is not a God of disorder but of peace. As in all the congregations of the saints.

I do laugh. But my life is a life of order and peace.

  3. you should write about the jehova witnesses- the watchtower holy spirit this is a very dangerous group tha people dont talk about much. is going through are noses and people are being decieve, they contradict the bible alot and they are not very loving only when there is people around. i think you should take a little time to write about this.

  4. Asking God to perform tricks is sin. right? “Thou shalt not tempt the lord thy God”. I would be highly skeptical of any that do any of those things.

      1. Dear Ed.

        Shalom.

You have posted 5 posts, and than a post saying this is not your comment? Please explain.

      2. Dear Ed.

        Shalom, and love in Jesus.

        You wrote:

        My reply:

I have reason to believe that you know the Florida robber personally. I want you to talk to Him, and take him back to the girl in the shop. I love the three of you. Let this become a great testimony of the Power of the Holy Spirit. Let Jesus get all the honor and all the glory. Amen.

  5. Shalom!

I’m a new born christian from Hungary, and I wonder what you think about speaking in tongues?

    Thanks!
    B.

    1. @ BIGBY-speaking in tongues only comes about in order to speak in a foriegn language that is recognizable to the person who hears, speaks and under stand their own language .The person speaking in tongues is being a witness, not speaking some mumbo-jumbo demonic ashtar command babble.
EX: you speak to a spanish person in their native language even though you never studied or spoke spanish before. This is very rare if not at all in these days. most of it is fake demon babble.

      1. Dear Put YHWH 1st.

        Shalom.

        You wrote:

This is very rare if not at all in these days. most of it is fake demon babble.

        My reply:

The topic of praying in tongues has been well debated on this site, and there are different opinions if this gift is present on Earth or not. I am convinced you are wrong. Because God never regrets or take back His gifts of the Holy Spirit. So if this gift has expired, so might all other of God’s gifts and promises.

Still you can relax. No one will ever force you to attend a Pentecostal Church.

      2. If anyone thinks that he is a prophet, or spiritual, he should acknowledge that the things I am writing to you are a command of the Lord. If anyone does not recognize this, he is not recognized. So, my brothers, earnestly desire to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. But all things should be done decently and in order.

        1 Corinthians 14:37-40

    2. Bigby,

I am very Happy that you are a born again Christian. God Bless you, and may you keep strong in Jesus Christ.

Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 that speak in tongues is a gift of the Holy Spirit. It is a true gift, and still active in churches today as well as healing and all the other gifts Paul listed.

Here is the full 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 bible verses:

7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,[a] and to still another the interpretation of tongues.[b] 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

      God Bless you.

    1. Dear Sue.

And who would know the difference? Only those who have received the gift of discernment. I do speak in tongues, but it is not of great importance in my life with Jesus. Some makes it almost a matter if a person is born again or not.

The greatest gift is love. Without love, I can…..You know 1. Corinthians 13.

  6. I went to a large conference to hear a speaker two years ago. The speaker asked the crowd with a raise of hands to show who could speak in tongues. I was shocked to see half the audience raise their hands.

    1. Dear Richard.

      Shalom.

I wounder who many would have raised their hand, if the question was reception of the gift of healing?

Would a large number be good or bad?

      1. I personally think that the number of people that can speak in tongues and interpret is but a few and even fewer have the gift of healing. Thats just my opinion though. I have no factual data to base that opinion upon.

      2. Dear Richard.

        Shalom.

I feel you are right. Christians who have pastors who focus on the gifts of the Holy Spirit are few. That is sad. Because if we read Paul’s take on this issue, every Christian will receive one gift, or the other.

        What gift do you have?

    1. This is a bible verse that lists the gifts of the Holy Spirit 1 Corinthians 12:7-11

So the bible says that speaking tongues is a gift, but another gift is also the interpretation of tongues.

I am not one that speaks in tongues. But I do believe that it is a gift from the Holy Spirit, as well as healing, and as well as all the other ones Paul listed.

      God Bless

      1. I’d also like to add to my post above, regarding 1 Corintians 13 verses 8 through 12.

I’ve always believed speaking in tongues, is a Gift from the Holy Spirit. My sister in law speaks in tongues, and my grandmother does too, both are believers in Jesus Christ.

Now I asked my Pastor for further clarification of 1 Corintians 13 verses 8 through 12, and he said this:

Because the Corinthian church was more concerned of the gifts of the Spirit and the move of God in the church, they overlooked the most important aspect of the church, Love. All the manifestations of God through the gifts of the Spirit are useful and necessary while the church is here on earth. But when Christ comes and when we have reached perfection in Him, there will be no need for the gifts, prophecies, tongues and so forth. What is most important of all is the Love we have for one another in our relationship with Christ. The comparison use of a “child” to relate to the church, talks about maturing in Christ and when we reach the fulness in Christ, and when He comes, we do not have the needs of the manifestations of God through the gifts because we will be already in the presence of God.

Even as of now, we do not see or understand everything of God, and its compare as looking through a “poor reflection in a mirror”. In Bible days, the mirrors that were use to look at were’nt as clear and as perfect as the mirrors we use today. So, Paul uses that comparison to make the Christians understand that as we grow in faith and in maturity in Christ, we will see things better because we will see Christ face to face, just as He is and know the fulness thereof of what we have accepted and believe by faith in the present. *end*

So to recap: All the manifestations of God through the gifts of the Spirit are useful and necessary while the church is here on earth. But when Christ comes and when we have reached perfection in Him, there will be no need for the gifts, prophecies, tongues and so forth.

I agree with this completely. There could not be no other explanation, because the bible says it’s a gift from the Holy Spirit.

        God Bless.

  7. I can’t resist speaking the Truth about speaking in tongues. Sorry to learn that Ivar is still believing in the unbiblical speaking in tongues.
Ivar has helped many people when he expose fake and falsehood, but he can’t seem to let go of the fake nowadays speaking in tongue.
The nowadays speaking in tongues is nonsense babbling. How entertaining for the demons it must be….to watch and listen to Christians perform this poor copycat of tongues speaking. I want to gently explain again the Truth about speaking in tongues. I pray that God will grant Ivar, and others, to repentance from the false doctrine leading them to a knowledge of the truth.
Please don’t make it seem unimportant. The devil’s work is to try to ensnare people with falseness. Let’s work on getting all falseness out when we learn of them.

Speaking in tongues were for a sign to the Jews.

We can see from the scriptures that speaking in tongues was prophesied about in the Old Testament, that the Lord would speak to the Jews, as stated in Isaiah 28:11. And this prophecy was being fulfilled in the New Testament, as confirmed by Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 14:21.

In Acts 2:5 the prophesy was happening, we see that there were JEWS from EVERY NATION gathered together. The Jews are the people God said that He would speak to through men of strange tongues…..

Acts 2:5 Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven.

And in Acts 2:6 we see that the Jews from every nation spoke in many different languages….

Acts 2:6 When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking in his own language.

Acts 2:8-Then how is it that each of us hears them in his own native language? 9Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome 11 (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs-we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!”

(Notice that the word for ‘foreign languages’ clearly is called ‘tongues’ in Acts 2:11.)

Speaking in tongues were also a sign to the Jews that Gentiles were excepted by God for salvation. This is very important since the Gentiles were once called “unclean people.” And it was against the law for Jews to associate closely with the Gentiles.

God in His infinite wisdom knew that the Gentiles speaking in tongues would be a sign to the Jews that the Gentiles are also included in salvation. Can you imagine how necessary it was for the Jews to have the sign that salvation is for the Gentiles too? See the following passage how the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles, as was evident by the Gentiles speaking in tongues and praising God.

Acts 10:44While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. 45The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles. 46For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God.

Did you see that? The scripture says that they [the Jews] heard them [the Gentiles]speaking in tongues and praising God. How would the Jews know the Gentiles were praising God? This is how they knew—because the Jews who spoke other languages knew the Gentiles were praising God—because the Jews understood the language!

After the believers had the gift of speaking in tongues for the sign to the Jews…they kept the gift even when the Jews from other nations were not around. So the tongue speakers spoke only to God when they spoke in tongues when Jews from other nations were not around. The false nowadays tongue speaking is also commonly called a “prayer language.” Calling the false tongue speaking a “prayer language” is from an error in their understanding of the scriptures explaining speaking in tongues when no one is around who understands.

Speaking in tongues were during the laying of the foundation of the church—the foundation has been laid. The scriptures tell us that speaking in tongues were for a sign to the Jews—the sign has been given.
Scriptures also tell us that the hearers of the tongue speaking understood what was said in earthly languages.

The scriptures even tell us that speaking in tongues would stop. 1 Corinthians 13:8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

Now that I spoke the Truth to you, please don’t turn into an insulting person, like you have before when I tried to discuss this here. And please don’t say your false tongue speaking doesn’t matter cause only love matters. The Truth matters. If the Truth didn’t matter…then you wouldn’t of made this site. And if you can’t be corrected in the Truth against false doctrines…then how do you expect others to?

    1. To the moderator: I posted the previous comment prior to reading all of the comments, where this was hashed out endlessly. It may be best to NOT approve my comment after seeing the tail chasing that took place last year on the subject. No sense in bringing this mind numbing nonsense in, not only for those that already posted but for the non-believers and skeptics to read. That is often the real tool of satan, the disagreements on scripture within the church. I live in the middle east and hear often from the muslims about how Christians can’t agree on things. Ravi Zacharias has a funny comment about how Jesus used mud for one healing of the blind and no mud for another. If it happened today, we’d have the muddites and the anti-muddites.

      1. Romans 14:1 As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions.

And this is where John, we must stand firm in the Word of God, so we can let the non believers and skeptics know that Jesus loves them and died for them. We must also let those who follow the devil know, that Jesus Chris is their only Savior.

        God Bless,

        Gloria

  8. I believe there is right and wrong here. There are false tongues, and there are genuine ones. Still. I believe many have been duped into believing that they speak in tongues. I was duped early as a Christian, and it almost killed me spiritually. Then later, when matured a bit, God gave me both tongues and interpretation.
And when I get a tongue, it is always very specific and to the point, not quite seldom prophetic in nature.

    1. Do you believe your tongue speaking is supernatural?

Do you believe your tongue speaking can be understood by someone else who speaks and understands another earthly language?

Did you watch someone speak in tongues before you spoke in tongues yourself? Have you been taught to do the tongue speaking and interpretation that you do? Did someone tell you how? Did someone explain to you how to do it? If someone explained how…then you were taught, and if your were taught how to do it…then it isn’t supernatural.

May the Truth keep us close to God. And not some exotic, mysterious and strange babbling.

      1. Dear Victoria.

        Shalom.

I am blessed to see you back, commenting on this site. We might not always agree. May Jesus give you a new year, full of blessings and surprises. Amen.

      2. Thank you, Ivar, for saying to me that you are blessed to see me back. So glad to read this from you. What a nice surprise and blessing.
Amen. And blessings and love to you.

      3. Gloria

        Shalom.

        You wrote:

But when Christ comes and when we have reached perfection in Him, there will be no need for the gifts, prophecies, tongues and so forth.

        My reply:

I agree with your understanding of Paul’s teachings. In fact, I regret than anyone is able to misunderstand the meaning of “when perfection comes”.

But as I also stated, the gifts of tongues seems to be of less importance, and there must be someone to decode the message. The Holy spirit has many ways to give directions to individuals and joint fellowships. He can give us messages in visions and dreams. He can move our bad conscious, that convicts us of sins and things that should have been done.

If a message in tongues is not biblical, it can easily be rejected. If the message is misunderstood, the correction will be manifested. God do not speak only to one person in a fellowship. The Holy Spirit will make the instructions clear to the broad New Testament leadership that HAS TO BE in place in a true Church.

      4. Thank you, Gloria, for the nice welcome. It means so much to me.

I can’t help but speak up about my beliefs, so glad to be able to discuss them here without bad feelings on either side.

        Ivar said:
“I regret than anyone is able to misunderstand the meaning of “when perfection comes.””

When Paul says “For we know in part and we prophecy in part,” in Greek it is more literal, “For in part we are knowing, and in part we are prophesying.” Paul adds, “but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears.” The word ‘perfect’ is in the neuter gender, and since it is neuter gender it refers to the perfect (the finished or the completed) word of God. If the word ‘perfect’ was in reference to Jesus, then it would be in the masculine gender.
In the Bible times, the message of salvation was being proclaimed and was not all written yet; the prophets and apostles needed prophecy and speaking in tongues (other languages). But we have the completion of the New Testament, we have the written Word of God in completion. Prophecies ceased, just like the Bible says they would; and tongues are stilled, just like the Bible said they would be.

        Ivar said:
“But as I also stated, the gifts of tongues seems to be of less importance, and there must be someone to decode the message.”

Even when praying and singing while speaking in tongues, the speaker, for himself also, should interpret what he is saying so that it is fruitful for his mind (1 Corinthians 14:14,15).
You see…speaking in tongues without interpretation is unfruitful, even for the speaker. Yet this isn’t the message stressed upon many today.

Thank you Ivar for letting me tell my beliefs here. It broke my heart a little when I first learned your beliefs about speaking in tongues. I wish we were like minded in this.

        God bless…

      5. Dear Victoria.

        Shalom.

        You wrote:

        My reply:

Exactly. And the Word of God is not completed, before Jesus the Lion of Judah returns to Earth. There are still prophecies that has to be fulfilled. That is why prophecies has not yet ceased. When I say” Jesus will return to Earth a second time to judge the World”, I do prophesy, a truth that for five billion people on Earth is received as utter non sense.

        Your take:

But we have the completion of the New Testament, we have the written Word of God in completion.

        My reply:

This is in my opinion not the correct understanding of what Paul is trying to teach us. The Bible is the perfect road map, and the final and ultimate authority on all issues. But the Bible does not solve all issues. If we are not lead by fresh revelations from God, you will not know if you should turn left or right at the next corner. Jesus continues to talk to His children. We sometimes fail to understand, because what “is perfect” has not yet returned to Earth. But when He returns, there will be no more misunderstandings. Than “perfection” has come.

      6. Yes, I believe fully, that the tongues (language) that I speak, when I speak in public is another language. Whether it is a now living or a dead language I do not know.
It might happen that some people speak with Angel’s tongues, but I consider that more likely when praying, and not very common when speaking publicly.

When I was young and not rooted, someone tried to “teach me to speak in tongues”. It almost killed me spiritually. Years later, after I left all my own urges on the shelf, God enveloped my in a spiritual experience, that best can be described as being swaddled in a blanket – and in seconds or maybe 1/10 of a second, I’d got my new language.

It is, from a linguistic viewpoint, clear that it is a language with structure and grammar, and not only repetitive babbling, which some tend to call “tongues”.

      7. Ivar,

You said earlier: The Holy spirit has many ways to give directions to individuals and joint fellowships. He can give us messages in visions and dreams.

My Comment: I agree with this completely Ivar. Though I do not speak in tongue Glory to Christ always, I’ve had visions and dreams. A few months ago, for the first time ever (and I cannot describe the feeling correctly, but it was wonderful), the Holy Spirit led me to a woman who attended the church I attend, the Holy Spirit told me to tell her “Jesus loves you.” And the lady broken down in my arms crying. I tell you Ivar that was a first, but Glory to Christ, I hope he continues to use me this way. It is so important to get the Love of Jesus out there. I have also hears stories of healings, have seen and experienced demons fleeing at the name of Jesus, and so much more. The Holy Spirit is apart of Christ, and Thank you Jesus for giving us the Holy Spirit.

        God Bless

      8. Lars-Toralf Storstrand says:
“It might happen that some people speak with Angel’s tongues, but I consider that more likely when praying, and not very common when speaking publicly.”

The Bible says that angels are ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation (see Heb.1:14).
Since angels are ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation…angels need to know and understand all the many earthly languages of the people on earth. So you see, it is about real earthly languages.

        Lars-Toralf Storstrand says:
“It is, from a linguistic viewpoint, clear that it is a language with structure and grammar, and not only repetitive babbling, which some tend to call “tongues”.”

But babbling is only what people are doing nowadays. Yes of course God can give you a miracle of tongues to share the gospel with someone from another language, but the tongue speaking in the Bible were for a sign to the Jews—the sign has been given. 1 Cor.1:22 Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, Matt. 12:38 Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, “Teacher, we want to see a miraculous sign from you. John 4:48 “Unless you people see miraculous signs and wonders,” Jesus told him, “you will never believe.”

  9. Ivar said:

    “Philippians 2:10-12:
«that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father».

When I tell you that this will happen on the event on the return of Jesus the Messiah, I become a true prophet, lead by the Spirit of truth. First on the day all prophetic Words are fulfilled, there will no longer be a need of the gift of prophecy.”

    My Comment:

The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
And we know though that we do not add to what the Bible says. The Bible is the Word of God, and no more new prophecies added. The Bible tells us prophecies will cease (see 1 Cor. 13:8).

If a person says they are a prophet, then they should explain that they will not prophecy new things.

If there are new prophecies do we believe them? Rather, we are told something about God and Jesus….then we look in the Bible to see if what we are told is true. But if there are new prophecies how do we know for sure they are true? So you see…you do not prophecy new, like the prophets in the Bible, but you only speak of what is already written. Yet there are people in some denominations who call themselves “prophets,” and they also speak in tongues and say they are prophesizing.
See how the error comes when someone doesn’t rightly understand the scriptures? And see how false prophets use false speaking in tongues too?
Some denominations have what they call prophets, and they merely tell people’s fortune, even saying such things like “someone in the church is going to die soon; or someone is going to get a good job soon, etc.” Is this the kind of prophecizing the Bible tells us to do? Yet this is done in many churches who claim to be prophets. When they prophecy like that, is this not getting into dangerous grounds of telling people’s fortune?
When we, true believers, know what evil the unsaved are involved in…because we know they are of this world…it is not the same as saying I’m a prophet and see that someone is going to die soon, etc. But that is what many are doing in some churches.
Again, when one claims to be a prophet, please also explain that there are no new prophecies, only what is already written. All kinds of false denominations start when people claim they are a prophet and are told something new. And be careful when you (any reader) hear someone say they are a prophet and try to tell you some personal information about yourself in the area of illness and accidents and money, etc.

  10. Victoria:
Sorry to say that you are wrong:
Paul clearly states that there are both men’s tongues and angels’ tongues, 1Cor 13:1 “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become [as] sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.”
But of course, if the “tongues” someone are speaking are just “babbling”,this verse applies doubly…

On the other side, it is unfair to say that all and everyone “babbles”. That is simply not true.

    1. Lars-Toralf,
      You say:
“Sorry to say that you are wrong:
Paul clearly states that there are both men’s tongues and angels’ tongues, 1Cor 13:1 “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become [as] sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.””

      My comment:
There are many languages of men in the world. And angels are ministering spirits to those who will inherit salvation. So judge for yourself what that means…do not angels need to understand and speak the languages of men?
Even if the speaker sounds like they are speaking a strange language from another world—it is still understood by the hearer in their earthly language. That’s what it is comes down to. It’s about earthly languages for the hearers.

This is what the Bible says: Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers;(see 1 Cor.14:22).

Answer this: Since tongues are a sign for unbelievers – how are unbelievers given a sign nowadays when they hear babbling and no one from other languages hear in their language?

      Lars-Toralf says:
“But of course, if the “tongues” someone are speaking are just “babbling”,this verse applies doubly…”

      My comment:
What do you mean by that?

      1. Victoria,

Respectfully Victoria, I’d like to ask what you think this bible verse means: (I don’t know if I have asked you this before. If I did I apologize.)

        1 Corinthians 12:7-11 bible verses:

7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,[a] and to still another the interpretation of tongues.[b] 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

        God Bless

      2. Dear Gloria and Victoria.

        Shalom.

I feel this topic of tongues have been well debated. I fell you should be able to agree that you disagree, and still love and accept each other as sisters.

I have earlier written that no one will be forced to attend a Pentecostal Church, and if you do not believe that there is anything interesting in this kind of messages, I have no objections. But please accept that there are warm Christians who are of a different opinion.

There are two ditches to fall into, in regards to this topic. One is that those who do not speak in tongues, are not born again Christians. The other is that all who speak in tongues are children of the devil. Both these takes are wrong, and keeps non-believers away from true Christianity. Please do not end up in either of these camps.

    My Comment:

Respectfully to you too, Gloria. I have many people in my life who believe in speaking in tongues, and I love them dearly.
About the passage you asked me about…. The Bible times were very special times. The foundation was being laid by the prophets, apostles and Jesus Christ himself as chief cornerstone. God testified to the message with signs and miracles… We have the completed word in the New Testament. The apostles and disciples did not have the completed New Testament all written down for them like we do, they needed prophecies and speaking in tongues (speaking in other languages). Yes God still gives us miracles and healing. But the Bible does tell us that prophecies will cease and tongues will be stilled.
Is it not proof to you that there are no new prophecies about God, Jesus and the kingdom of heaven? Why do you think that is? Don’t you see that the Bible tells us they would cease?

      My reply:

Satan is a copy cat. He can also do miracles, signs and wonders. So should we stop people, from being such co-workers with Jesus, because we run the risk of being surrounded by copy-cats?

Have the gifts of performing miracles also ceased? What about the gift of knowledge?

You do not answer my question: Is the closure of the Biblical cannon, what Paul spoke about as “when perfection comes?”. A yes or no will do. That solves the issue, and we can agree to disagree.

      1. Ivar said:

I almost can’t believe you ask why to continue in debates that seems endless. It just seems like a strange question coming from someone who owns a site where he debates Catholics and other religions about the same thing over and over.
If someone comments on what I said, or if someone asks me a question…I guess it is okay with you that I can answer?

The answer to your question is – we should not stop people from being co-workers with Jesus. And we should do what the Bible says and correct people when we believe they get in wrong doctrine.

The Bible says where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

I already answered you about when perfection comes. When perfection comes does not support your beliefs that prophecies won’t cease. Judge for yourself – are there any new prophecies about God, Jesus and the kingdom of heaven? No there isn’t any new prophecies, they ceased, just like the Word of God said they would. Nor does when perfection comes support your belief that speaking in tongues won’t be stilled.

      2. Dear Victoria.

        Shalom.

I do not mind endless debates on this site. But I feel I have made my points very clear, and do not see any good reason to keep on repeating my self.

    3. Victoria,

Thank you for your reply. I honestly was curious about what your take on those verses were.

As you know, I do attend a Pentacostal/Christian church all my life, and I believe everyone of 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 is still active.

But we do disagree on this point respectfully.

May God continue to Bless you Victoria.

      1. Gloria,
I think that you, Ivar and I probably have now debated this doctrine deeply enough. Maybe if someone else would like to discuss more with me it would be alright with Ivar.

One last remark to you and Ivar – I think this is one question you both don’t answer:

Is it not proof to you that there are no new prophecies about God, Jesus and the kingdom of heaven? Why do you think that is? Don’t you see that the Bible tells us they would cease? 1 Cor. 13:8.

      2. Victoria,

I feel you cannot quote and give a proper “idea” as to what Paul was speaking about with only verse in 1 Corinthians 13 verse 8, without reading the whole chapter.

For those reading Ivars blog, and want to read the whole chapter of 1 Corinthians 13, you can copy and paste this link: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20Corinthians%2013&version=NIV

You asked Victoria: Is it not proof to you that there are no new prophecies about God, Jesus and the kingdom of heaven? Why do you think that is? Don’t you see that the Bible tells us they would cease? 1 Cor. 13:8.

My Comment: Verse 12 of the same chapter makes your meaning of Verse 8 unlikely. I think I’ve stated somewhere before that the state of perfection/completeness will not be reached until the new heavens and new earth are established.

I agree that we have discussed this thoroughly enough, that we can both agree to disagree.

        God Bless

I say you are wrong about not being about to give a proper idea as to what Paul was speaking about.
God’s Word is powerful. Many false religions and false doctrines would not even start if people believed and obeyed just one scripture.

Here is one scripture that disqualifies all religions that say there is more than one way to the Father.

John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Unitarians say there are more ways to the Father than Jesus.

Here is one scripture that should stop a person from continuing to contemplate believing the Mormon religion. And this one scripture should also stop someone from thinking of joining the Islamic/Muslim religion.

Galatians 1:8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!

Joseph Smith says the angel Moroni gave him the other testament of Jesus Christ. Don’t let any one, nor the Mormon missionaries, try to explain away what Galatians 1:8 says! Muslims also believe that the verses of the Qur’an were revealed to Muhammad by an angel.

Here is a scripture that should expose the Catholic Religion.

Matthew 23:9 And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.

Catholics have a Pope. Pope means ‘father’. And the Catholics even call their Pope ‘Holy Father’. ‘Holy Father’ is a name only to be said to God. Not only do the Catholic parishioners call the Pope and priests ‘father,’ the Pope and priests call each other ‘father’. Jesus said not to call any one on earth ‘father’ and that they are all brothers. There are many other false doctrines in the Catholic religion, but starting from the top of their religion— the Pope, that should be enough to stop there with that religion.

Here is the one scripture that should stop the Jehovah Witnesses and Seventh Day Adventists, and any religion who say people don’t go to heaven.

Matthew 23:13 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut off the kingdom of heaven in men’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.

There are other false doctrines in those religions, but that one scripture should be enough to stop any further involvement.

Here is a scripture that should dismiss Calvin’s predestination belief.

1 Timothy 4:10 (and for this we labor and strive), that we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who believe.

There are many Reformed denominations who believe in Calvin’s theory. Calvinist beliefs are that God made people who don’t believe in Jesus to not be able to believe in Jesus; therefore, these people were created to go to hell. Calvinism is a false doctrine. 1 Timothy 4:10 plainly says that the Savior is for “all men”.

And here again is a scripture that should cause one to know their tongue speaking is not biblical. Also, this one scripture should show there aren’t new prophecies, nor anything to be added to the bible by prophecies or knowledge.

1 Corinthians 13:8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

      4. Victoria,

I feel we are on friendly ground now, and do not one to tread on dangerous waters. Please do not misquote me. I said you cannot know what Paul was talking about by reading ONE verse.

I did not say or even hint at (these are your words: Many false religions and false doctrines would not even start if people believed and obeyed just one scripture.)

Never once that I hinted that i believed in one chapter of the bible. I do believe in the Word of God entirely.

And I’ve already explained to you Victoria that 1 Corinthians 13:8 cannot be read alone. You have to read the whole chapter.
And I explained to you if you read verse Verse 12 of the same chapter makes your meaning of Verse 8 unlikely. I think I’ve stated somewhere before that the state of perfection/completeness will not be reached until the new heavens and new earth are established.

I won’t reply to this topic again. I feel Ivar is correct. This topic has been well debated. We have different views, but I still consider you my sister in Christ.

That was not a nice comment. No one here have threatened you. You need to be able to disagree with people, my dear sister.

The problem with ruling out that Jesus speaks to His children today, and that His messages needs to be decoded, is a dangerous stand. Not because of physical threats, but because Jesus is not fully able to get through to you, with what He wants you to do. So please open up, Victoria. Jesus have a lot of messages to you, that also can come in visions, dreams and even in a different tongues.

        This is a relevant scripture:

        John 5:39
You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me. Yet you refuse to come to me to have life.

      7. Victoria I did not threaten you. I meant to say that you are my sister in Christ and I do not want to debate this any longer, because I do not want our differences to cause us not to be friends/sister in christ.

        God Bless

      8. Dear Gloria.

I tried to warn in between the lines, that there would not come anything good out of a “rematch” on the topic of tongues. So please cool down. You have not written anything to Victoria, that a Christian should feel offended about. And any accusation about “threats” are baseless.

Well and good. You are my sister. Sometimes we just have to agree, that we disagree.

I get messages in tongues, visions and dreams. Sometimes Jesus uses someone with a prophetic gift, to confirm what He wants me to do. The Holy Spirit even tells me about things to come. What a wonderful helper we all have in Him.

I hope and pray that Jesus is able to lead you into all the pre-planned works, He has made for you. Amen.

        My comment:
I’m interested in hearing more about the kinds of visions and dreams you have from Jesus. Please note that I did not say Jesus doesn’t speak to us in visions and dreams, the Bible doesn’t tell us we won’t hear from Jesus in visions and dreams.

      12. Dear Victoria.

        Shalom.

Our disagreement seems to be about “when perfection” comes. I believe the Word of God is the final authority in all matters, and whatever visions, dreams and messages in tongues has to be scrutinized and approved by applying the scriptures.

Just yesterday, I got a vision about a girl that is about to commit suicide. Where in the Bible, am I going to search to find the answer to such a vision? I guess I am called to meet that girl, and tell her that Jesus loves her? At least send someone, to see if she is ok?

Messages in tongues, are often about the need to repent. Pin Pointed messages from our Master. That is a never ending story about Jesus and His children. Such messages can very well be spoken in plain English. But there seems to be a lot of political hindrance inside our Churches, to allow this kind of rebukes. Many Pastors do not allow witnessing at all. And those who do, want to pre-qualify the messenger and the message. The message that comes in tongues seems to be decoded without the need for a “pastoral filter”, and reach the Church beyond the fear of men.

      13. Ivar,

Your Comment: Just yesterday, I got a vision about a girl that is about to commit suicide.

My Comment: I hope Jesus Christ continues to bless you, and use you for work in his name.

I sometimes have dreams and visions too. One of them were of my younger sister who I am close with. I looked to the skies and saw the Lord coming down with his angels, and in my arms was my sister who was dead. I cried, and to this day I tell her come back to Christ. I also pray for her and her family, putting them in the hands of Jesus Christ.

        God Bless you.

  12. Forgetting the context, are we?
It says that prophetic gifts and tongues, and knowledge all shall come to an end – and it says why, because at present we all see partially and segmentally. Prophecies, and tongues are all a parts of these. But when the time comes (that is: when Jesus sits at the throne in Jerusalem, ruling all nations with a rod of iron), then everybody shall know everything, and see clearly as it was meant originally.
That is when prophecies, and tongues will have an end.
If you don’t see that, Victoria, you are up the Creek, with no paddle and a Canoe that’s sinking fast.

    1. No, Lars-Toralf, I am not up the creek with no paddle and a canoe that sinking fast.

Also, I’m not forgetting the context.

Maybe you would like to answer the question I asked Ivar and Gloria, yet they do not answer.

Question:Is it not proof to you that there are no new prophecies about God, Jesus and the kingdom of heaven? Why do you think that is? Don’t you see that the Bible tells us they would cease? 1 Cor. 13:8.

      1. Dear Victoria,

If you refuse to see the context, that tongues will cease to exist, when everything has been perfectioned, which is to say, after Jesus comes back and sets up his throne in Jerusalem, after the rapture, where we all (who believes in Him) will have new PERFECT bodies… then you really are up the creek… you might think you aren’t but that doesn’t matter.

I can try to answer the question you posed.
        1. There are plenty new prophecies about God, but if a prophecy says anything about God, that cannot be backed up by the Scriptures, it remains a false prophecy. The scripture is and remains the litmus test of any prophecy.
Can it be any simpler? Your viewpoint is an unbiblical viewpoint at best.

        1. There are plenty new prophecies about God, but if a prophecy says anything about God, that cannot be backed up by the Scriptures, it remains a false prophecy. The scripture is and remains the litmus test of any prophecy.
Can it be any simpler? Your viewpoint is an unbiblical viewpoint at best.”

You say if the prophecy can’t be backed up by scripture, then it remains a false prophecy. So then you understand and admit there aren’t any new prophecies?

My comment wasn’t “not a nice comment.” You are just having a hard time being able to disagree with people.
And I guess you might want to ban me now? Maybe I should of took the warning from Gloria?
No need to comment back to me. I only want to ask this question to others, if they can answer:

Do any that believe in nowadays speaking in tongues and prophecies want to explain why we don’t have any new prophecies about God, Jesus and the kingdom of heaven? Can you give an answer from the Bible to this question?

Please consider carefully 1 Corinthians 13;8.

    1. Dear Victoria.

      Shalom.

      My reply:

How many times do I have to call you my sister?

  14. These are signs and wonders spoken of in Scripture, not sent by Yahuwah by the Ruach Kodesh, but by demon/’alien’ supernatural technology. The miracles of the Creator Yahuwah have always been true supernatural technology. I f we can do what we can imagine, and are created in His image, then our technology comes by His ways. demons use this technology in this dimension to make these false signs and wonders. Galatians 4:16

  15. Read ALL of 1 Corinthians 14. It is very clear what tounges is and exactly how it is to be used. This is communication between you and our Father. It edifys yourself, unless there is an interpreter in the church you should remain silent with it. Why must we argue about such things. Seek the Lord Jesus for your desires. People will let you down and sway you to their beliefs but the Lord never will. I promise.

    1. Dear mark samson

      Shalom, and love in Jesus.

Thanks for blessing me with this comment. It means a lot for me, that the readers of News That Matters find my postings useful for their spiritual life.

  16. WOW! Thank you VERY much for explaining all of this! I agree that you explained it in a very easy-to-understand way. Because our home was invaded over 2 1/2 years ago by a TON of demons who in many recordings (via our home surveillance” call theirselves “Legion who is one yet we are many”, I have been struggling literally NON-STOP trying to decifer whether I’m hearing demons, ministering spirits or The Holy Spirit! I have dealt with it all day even today as every other day. I picked up my Bible and asked for ministering spirits to please give me a book, chapter and verse or versus if applicable, and right away I heard “Haggai 6:23”. Well there is not such a chapter, so I realized quickly that it must have been demons messing with me, correct? I went ahead and read in Haggai and made sure I benefited anyways. Then I tried again and was told to go to Psalm 24. So I read it and realized that Psalm 25 is about deliverance which I’m desperately seeking & fighting to get for over 1 1/2 years. Clearly ministering spirits would never be wrong about Bible verses! So it has to be demons doing what they do non-stop by trying to make my life a living hell. You would not believe the mind games the demons play in this regard. It’s a total NIGHTMARE! But I do now see that I do not need to worry about that any longer or spend my time, energy & worry about testing a zillion spirits and instead must simply go directly to God’s Living Word to both seek and receive the whole truth and nothing but the truth and God will lead me exactly where I need to go!!! YES!!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR TRUE LIVING WORD GOD!!!

  17. “But not all copy-cat Holy Spirits is promoting worldliness There are also forms of spirituality that is disconnected from most kinds of worldly focus, but is still not based on the truth. One such spirit comes from Hinduism, and its called the Spirit of Kundalini. This kind of Spirit is linked to the practice of yoga, and often used to heal people. This spirit has also come into Christianity, and creates confusion and division.”

I am afraid I have to correct you here. On so many levels.
What causes confusion and division is religions seeking to divide people.. Into classes.. The saved.. The unsaved.. The ones “a part from god” and those who think that the Christ is a specific, historical person as described in the -Roman made bible.
What is universal, and uniting is the Kundalini force. Because she rests dormant in each and every one of us.
The most scientifically correct term is “bio electrical activation”. You see. We all have energy portals in our bodies. Empaths – high sensitive people would know all about this, since they feel it physically every time they are near negative people – negative energies.
When this scary serpent awakens, she blasts through the energy portals up to the crown shakra and makes us realize that we all come from the same divine energy source. This is not divisive! This is inclusive! And it’s non-judgmental.
Whatever issues and blockages or demons are ones own private. These are issues you need to deal with at your own expense and time. This is the time where you can’t call for Jesus or any other messiah to bail you out and fix your own karmic mess.
This is what frightened most people. Having to be confronted with what kind of prick you were to others until you realize that you are no better than that strange kid at school whose parents were atheists.
Kundalini is not for the faint hearted. Just look at all those hysterical church goers running around like headleass chicken in panic over some new threat that will blow their little bubble.
I envision an old fashioned witch hunt against anyone who are unrepentant for their spontaneous activation.
And now, there are Christians who accuse each other for spreading “false teachings” as if anyone of them have the right to claim biblical or spiritual authority because they have read parts of a book they do not understand.
It’s time for Christians to realize that their faith is nothing special. That their flock is not the “chosen flock” and everyone not willing to box themselves in the same prison are damned. That’s where the big division lies.
And they parrot the talking points of a bunch of polished faith healers who got their entire egos vested in this.
They don’t like competition on the spiritual free market and calls anything that they perceive as “un-biblical” as demonic. Which proves the violent intolerance and prejudice the Christian prison really is.
For those whose kundalini is in the activation process, all this becomes painfully obvious. For someone brought up in a cult brainwashed to fear things like this (even when their own bible speaks of the so called “holy ghost”, or use a state of mind as name for a person (Christ), it becomes an earth shattering experience since they are being forced to confront that everything they were taught to believe in is a lie.
They are still slaves and attached to status.. things… false sense of righteousness….piety.. bigotry..,dogma….greed….gluttony….. tribalism…..capitalism….nationalism…..property…..wealth…poverty….the false notion of resource scarcity…
organized religion with stated authorities who dictate what you can think…..what you can believe….what you can express….what you can speak……what you can eat……how you must live……Who you can affiliate with…how to dress…how to identify….Basically running your life from cradle to grave as they accuse socialists of doing.
For some who get their activation “by accident” this can be a painful process…And you will be scorned by your church going peers… Your preacher will hate you and fear you… For being you!
First for stealing his thunder…And then for stealing his gullible fools….making them more enlightened then their former preacher.. Who thinks that the path to Heaven is paved with the dollar bills of the people they have scammed.
There was a time when Christians thought that the pathway to Heaven was filled with the corpses of the “infidels” they have slaughtered. It was a continuation of the anti-pagan policy they had from the late 4th century. Where temples were burned. With pagans inside it.. Christianity has been clever in destroying competing religions through righteous violence.. Witch hunts….
Wonder what my dear Christian brothers and sister has in store for me and my fellow demon possessed, unrepentant Kundalini Awakened this time. I’m sure it will be something fun. Just look at what their Christian crusader Bush. Jr did when he opened Gitmo.
But to read how you seek to make Hinduism, Buddhism……Jainism….Ba’hai….and Shamanism your new enemies to wage a holy war against..
It won’t be the first time. But it will be the last. Because the false dogmas and lies spread by the Christian church and all monotheistic religions will fall.
It’s what will happen….. And it will be a peaceful one.
