  1. This reminds me of the Mexican religious/aka RCC holiday I believe it is called The Day of the Dead (El dia de Los Muertos). During this festival dead relatives are prayed to in the hope that they will return to the land of the living for just one night.

    The holiday abounds with skull and coffin imagery including sugar skulls as well as bread shaped like a person (bread of the dead it is called). Also the altars that are built to the dead must be decorated with flowers-here this is reminiscent of the many skulls seen above decorated with flowers!

    Google this holiday -I am sure you will see this similarities.
