Israel’s mini-cabinet considering 4-month freeze in East Jerusalem

The seven members of Israel’s inner security cabinet are privately considering a four month freeze on new housing in East Jerusalem.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his inner cabinet has been called by Washington to help facilitate the launch of US-brokered «proximity talks» with the Palestinian Authority.

Senior Israeli ministers this week publicly rejected the Obama administration’s demands for curbs on building in Jewish areas of east Jerusalem.

Benny Begin said Monday on Israel Radio that the status of east Jerusalem should be resolved in direct negotiations with the Palestinians, not in advance. He added that the American request «will definitely bring about the opposite of the declared goal. It will bring about a hardening in the policy of the Arabs and of the Palestinian Authority».

Foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman also noted, «I have not seen anyone among the seven [security cabinet ministers] who has consented to a building freeze in Jerusalem», according to The New York Times.

Yet the ministerial forum is quietly considering a compromise in which no large new projects would be announced or carried out for four months. There can also be a «quietly freezing». That means an issuance of new permits for construction while not making any public announcement which would inflame the passions of settler groups. Earlier this week, the White House apparently asked Israel to agree to a 4-month freeze in exchange for pressuring the Palestinians to resume direct negotiations within that time frame.

My comment:

Since 1967, its has been unthinkable that any Israeli Prime Minister would give up control over the liberated and free capital of the state of Israel, the city of Jerusalem.

But Islamic Arab nations has never given up their bid to bring Jerusalem back under Islamic occupation.

Before 1948, it was United Kingdom that controlled the city, and insured that Jewish properties was not confiscated by the Arabs, and Jewish synagogues destroyed.

But when Britain surrendered their colonialism in the Middle East, Jordanian soldiers attacked and captured East Jerusalem. During the illegal Islamic occupation from 1948 to 1967, both Christians, Catholics and Jews lost access to their holy sites. Jewish properties were either stolen or destroyed. Among the many synagogues that were burnt or blown up, was the 250 year old Hurva Synagogues hardly 300 meters from the Temple Mount.

Why do the World pressure Israel to bring East Jerusalem back under Islamic oppression, hooliganism and dictatorship?

President Barack Obama do know that He is doing. The half-Muslim that is ruling in the White House seems to be obsessed is his efforts to please the King of Saudi Arabia, and do the work of Allah and his messenger Muhammad.
