Unlimited democratic freedom in Israel

muslim«If Haneen Zuabi had been a Jew living in the Islamic Republic of Iran or Syria, and publicly stated that Israel has the right to exist within safe borders, she would have been put in jail. But Israel is a democracy, who gives the moslem Israeli politician Zuabi the right to express support for enemies of Israel». Thats grace.

New Israeli Arab MK praises Iran’s nuclear quest on «Land Day» rally in Hebron

New Balad MK Haneen Zuabi, the first woman elected to the Knesset to represent an Arab party, has welcomed Iran’s growing influence on Palestinian affairs and praised its quest for a nuclear weapon as a means of offsetting Israel’s regional military superiority.

Having Israel as the region’s sole nuclear power, she said, was «dangerous to the world… I need something to balance [Israel’s] power». The Iranian bomb was only «a potential» threat», while the real danger was the Israeli army and nuclear arsenal, she said.

Zuabi added that Iran’s increasing role in Palestinian affairs was «more useful» than that of regimes like Jordan and Egypt, in that Iran stood more firmly «against occupation than a lot of the Arab countries. This is our interest». She said Egypt and Jordan were scared of a free and democratic Palestinian state. Her comments came as Israeli Arabs marked «Land Day» on Monday, an annual commemoration of the death of six Israeli Arab protestors killed by police in 1976 during a bid by Israeli authorities to confiscate their land.

The day is marked with protests, strikes and rallies in support of Israeli Arab autonomy and Palestinian statehood. This year, many protesters carried PLO flags and chanted: «We are all united under Israeli fascism and racism». Speakers bemoaned the new Right leaning government of incoming Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the «Judaizing of the Galilee and Negev».
