Vatican offers “time off purgatory” by Popes tweets

Papal court handling pardons for sins says contrite Catholics may win ‘indulgences’ by following World Youth Day on Twitter.

The Pope use twitter to deceive the elect, if possible.
The Pope now use smartphones and twitter to deceive the elect, if possible.

In its latest attempt to keep up with the times the Vatican has married one of its oldest traditions to the world of social media by offering “indulgences” to followers of Pope Francis’ tweets.

The church’s granted indulgences reduce the time Catholics believe they will have to spend in purgatory after they have confessed and been absolved of their sins.

The remissions got a bad name in the Middle Ages because unscrupulous churchmen sold them for large sums of money. But now indulgences are being applied to the 21st century.

But a senior Vatican official warned web-surfing Catholics that indulgences still required a dose of old-fashioned faith, and that paradise was not just a few mouse clicks away.

“You can’t obtain indulgences like getting a coffee from a vending machine,” Archbishop Claudio Maria Celli, head of the pontifical council for social communication, told the Italian daily Corriere della Sera.

Indulgences these days are granted to those who carry out certain tasks – such as climbing the Sacred Steps, in Rome (reportedly brought from Pontius Pilate’s house after Jesus scaled them before his crucifixion), a feat that earns believers seven years off purgatory.

But attendance at events such as the Catholic World Youth Day, in Rio de Janeiro, a week-long event starting on 22 July, can also win an indulgence.

Mindful of the faithful who cannot afford to fly to Brazil, the Vatican’s sacred apostolic penitentiary, a court which handles the forgiveness of sins, has also extended the privilege to those following the “rites and pious exercises” of the event on television, radio and through social media.

“That includes following Twitter,” said a source at the penitentiary, referring to Pope Francis’ Twitter account, which has gathered seven million followers. “But you must be following the events live. It is not as if you can get an indulgence by chatting on the internet.”

My comment:

When a person has taken his last breath, his soul will depart for the final judgment. The final judgment will be with God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

When the Pope elevates him self to the seat of judgment, he becomes greater then God. In fact, he become “god”, the very “Holy Father”.

Even if there was a placed like Roman Catholic purgatory, the Pope would not have the power to cleanse anyone from sins, not shorten the time of needed classing. Such a claim is a damnable heresy, and pure wickedness.

“Repent while you are still alive. Give your life to Jesus of the Bible. Salvation is for those who are alive, and do surrender to the Lordship of the King of Kings. The “Jesus of Purgatory” is a demonic fiction”.

Please take notice of this Bible verse:

  2 Corinthians 11:4

For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.

When you submit to the truth, the Holy Spirit will convince you that  “Jesus according to Rome” is a copycat, based on religious fraud.

 Mark 13:22

For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

The followers of the Pope is lead down the path towards destruction. If they do not repent, they will have to spend eternity in Hell.

Repent or perish.

  1. Dear Ivar,

Yes – the Pope would not have the power to cleanse anyone from sins. But the Purgatory is real !!!

“I draw souls towards My Light. But only those who are in a State of Grace can withstand the Power of My Light of Mercy. If they are not pure of soul then they must be cleansed in Purgatory.

There are, My daughter, many layers in Purgatory and, depending on the sins committed by the soul, they will be filled with the cleansing Fire of the Holy Spirit.

Purgatory is painful for the soul and those who have to spend time there feel it like a physical pain as though they were still alive.

Let no man underestimate the sacrifices needed to keep their souls in a state worthy of My Father’s Kingdom.

Even at the point of death, a sinner can avail of My Great Mercy by asking Me to forgive him his sins. I will snatch him and take him into My Arms. I will then pour out My Mercy over him and then take him by the hand to the Gates of Paradise.

Sin can be forgiven when you are alive. Not after death.”

    – Your Jesus

    1. “Purgatory” is a lie. It is a demonic teaching that is not from the true Jesus. The fake “jesus” which oldman quoted, is a demon. The true Jesus is God, and makes it clear that heaven and hell are after death, and the only way to heaven is by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, that Jesus died for our sins and rose again.

    2. Dear Oldman

Any man can come up with any kind of hallow philosophy, and claim he knows
“god”. Even know “Jesus”. But true Christianity can only be defined by the Bible, alone.

Where are the scripture references to the Roman Catholic doctrine of purgatory?

Where are the scripture references to the Papal claim that the Pope can shorten the time a man will spend in purgatory?

You need to start defending your faith by using the Bible, or simply admitt that your faith has nothing to do with the Christian faith.

    3. Dear Ivar,

Anyway Purgatory is an extra information that, IMO, wont help/affect anyone’s salvation.

      1. What if I die in a state of venial sin? Am I eligible to get God’s Grace? OR, rather have to experience the wretchedness and pain in the fires of Hell as if those of in mortal sin?

      2. There are plenty of plenty things in the universe that God not revealed us yet.

  2. Amen, Ivar! This is so disturbing. There are so many disturbing things the Catholic Church teaches but Catholics continue to allow themselves to be blinded. With this though, I can’t imagine how they could think this is Biblical or right. Maybe older Catholics will push the younger. Social media doesn’t save. So sad.

    1. Dear Seeking Biblical Faith

Thanks for this comment. Thanks for blessing me.

When you are lead into error, it is important to come back to the right path as fast as possible. The further you drift apart, the more difficult to come back on safe ground.

The Roman Catholic Church is so hopelessly disconnected from the truth, that I feel its impossible to even find a way back. Its too late. People will either have to leave this “Church”, of become guilty of participating in all her sins. To all who decide to follow and support these hypocrites: You are committing a horrible mistake, with eternal consequences.
