Saved by His blood, mercy and grace alone

One of the most dangerous spirit that can capture a Christian is the spirit of pride.

Jesus of the Bible saves people by His mercy and grace, alone. Praise the Messiah.

That we can be saved by our good works, an a feeling that we are a little bit better than others.

I have many time asked Jesus to rebuke me and discipline me, and rescue me from the danger of walking in to the deception of pride.  Since I am one author on a blog that have thousands of daily readers, I can easily start looking on my self as somehow greater than others.

Since I have been set as a caretaker of substantial resources, I can fall pray to the feeling that I am somehow greater than other.

I am a hyper active Christian, who can not wait for the next chance to bless others. Still I might fall into the trap, of thinking that I might be saved by all my good works.

I have to consider my self blessed, that I have been given education. I am able to read the World of God, and have been set free by Him to do the will of the Father.

Still I am not better than any other saved sinner. But I might be more privilege than many, because of the gifts I have have received. I have surrendered everything to Jesus, and I am willing to use everything I have to His glory.

When I read the Bible, The Holy Spirit put everything I read into the right perspectives:

 Ephesians 2:7-9
in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.

 Romans 3:23-25
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,  and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished.

I am a pentecostal, but I have high regards for Martin Luther. He taught all of us:

“Man is saved by faith alone, in Jesus alone, separated from works”.

So, true.

A pentecostal sent me an email, saying:

“For me, Martin Luther was an idiot”:

I was puzzled by this email, and prayed to Jesus: What should be my humble reply?

The I felt some kind of divine inspiration, and I replied:

“I feel you are right, Martin Luther was an idiot. And so am I. And if God could use an idiot like Martin Luther, I hope he also can use an idiot like me”.

There never came any response to my reply.

  1. I agree with your points in this post however I noticed your statement: I have to consider my self lucky… I believe you just used the wrong term. Do you mean blessed instead of lucky?

I am one of your daily readers and your posts help me to inform my other brothers and sisters in Christ about the truth of Islam, Roman Catholicism, and the push for a one world religion. Please continue what you are doing because God is using you to inform many people about the behind the scenes that our news stations fail to report. And if they do report it, they don’t do it in light of God’s Word. God speed. 🙂

    1. Dear Luzdurano12.

Shalom, and thanks for blessing me, and all the readers of our blog.

You are right. I have replaced the word “Lucky” with “Blessed”.

  2. Salvation is worth more then “everything”. There is nothing that we have HE did not give. As Job said HE gives and takes away, yet i will “Praise The LORD”. Martin Luther was a Roman Catholic untill he read the Bible and believed by Faith in Christ Alone. He started out pretty good but ended being VERY Anti-Semitic. All the Reformers went back to Augustine of Hypo instead of going all the way back to the Apostles.

    1. Dear Gloria J.

      Shalom.

Neither did Martin Luther get everything right, neither do I. I can look back on 1948, and see that the Jews have been regathered back home to Zion. Martin Luther could not. I do not approve of His book of anti-semitism, but I understand Him. In one version of the Talmud, Jesus is told to be in Hell, in quite horrible conditions. The anti-Christianity within sectors of Judaism, is not a single day better than anti-semitism within the Church.

      1. So true Ivar The Talmud said horrendous things aboutJ Jesus. Jews and believers were hyper sensitive to defend their beliefs without understanding between them.

    2. Mosaic Judaism was ordained by G-D “Fulfilled in Christ Yeshua Jesus” The Judaism of today is a corruption of the Old Testament, the New Testament has been corrupted by the Eastern Orthodox and the Roman Catolic Church. Now most of Protestantism is corrupting the Old and New Testament and are Emerging with Rome. There are some very sound Protestant Churches and some Messianic Churches that are holding firm to “Sound Bible Teaching” and those are the ones that will and are being Persecuted. There were only some jews (Remnant) waiting for Yeshua the First time HE came and there will be only a Remant (jew and gentile)the Second time, “In ALL HIS Glory”. Amen

  3. I would agree with you about the Reformers. They were very influenced by their environment which was anti-semetic. It’s a shame.

  4. I have really been blessed by this blog. So much I never knew existed in Christian realm, about RCC, false teachers, Islam, Israel in the news and much more. I will be praying that you and the other keepers of ‘News that Matters!” would keep teaching and enlightening us on the hypocrisy going round. I have had different blogs before but this really feels like mine. Man! God bless you Ivar.

  5. You know Benleen, I completely agree with you. I only came to know of this blog by another person who is no longer a poster here. But I love coming here every day to hear some truth about what is going on in the world during these end days.
I have a great respect for Ivar, Gloria and Sue

    1. Dear Tim.

Shalom, and thanks for this comment. May God of Israel bless you with all kinds of heavenly blessings. In the name of Yeshua.

  7. To Gloria and Sue
You mentioned the corruption of the Old and New testaments by the church today and that is what moves me to ask this question. This is regarding the verses from Romans chapter 2:28& 29. I’m sure you have read these.
God says that a man is not a Jew if he is only one outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical.29 No, a man is a jew if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the spirit, not by the written code. Such a mans praise is not from men, but from God. Now if this is God’s definition of who a jew is then who are those that call themselves jews but have not been circumsised in the heart by the spirit. Gods says that a man(any man or woman that has been circumsised in the heart by the spirit and this is by his grace and through faith)is a jew. Jesus is king of the jews is he not. When I read this it causes me to believe that even I am a Jew because of what has happened in my heart even though I am not of the Nation of jews (Israel)Is my thinking correct or incorrect

    1. Hello Todd,

While waiting For Gloria and Sue to answer I thought I would put this here. In Romans, chapter 11
Paul speaks to Gentiles, those who aren’t the descandants of Israel, physically.

Rom 11:13 For I speak to you Gentiles…

There is a difference between Jews and Gentiles, according to natural birth. We, as Christians, are concerned with spiritual things. I think this chapter will answer your question.

    2. Ethnic jews need to be saved like anyone else. if you are a gentile you remain a gentile even after you are saved. The Root (Israel) and the Covenants belong to the jews and to Isreal, the gentiles are grafted into that Root. Salvation is from the jews, the Greatest Jew that ever walked on G-D’s green earth was and is and is to come is Yeshua! When the fullness of the gentiles have ended The LORD turns HIS Grace back to HIS ethnic people the jew…the time of the gentile is coming to a close. So don’t ever think HE is finished with HIS Chosen People the jew. Be grateful as a gentile that HE has grafted you into the Jewish Root Israel. HIS Covenant is with Israel and Judah Jer. 31:31 HE never made a Covenant with the Church that is called Replacement Theology BIG Heresy that has been going on for Centuries. That is only a tip of the iceburg of why the so-called Church is in the mess that it is in, if you are reading your Bible.

      1. True, simple and satisfying, at least for me. My late mother knew that and always prayed for Israel. She loved Netanyahu (The only Jewish PM she knew) and anything Jewish and always shared her opinion, that of a simple African woman who read a local Bible translation. She was a very avid reader that some Jehovah Witnesses brought their doctrine to her and after a serious discussion, she opened up the Bible to them, through the Kikuyu translation she had and by the time she was through, they were looking for an excuse to get away; they never came again. The witnesses had tried to demean her through an English translation but she surprised them by using both in her argument.

I was only 10 years of age but I can tell you that simple woman knew her Bible than so many Pastors I know.

I agree with Gloria J that if we should just read the Bible as much as we eat, Heresies would not bud in our midst, perhaps the open-door no one can shut in Revelation 3:8.

      2. The “ethnic” Jews that don’t believe in Jesus Christ, they are cut-off for unbelief. But God has not cut them off forever, for they can be grafted back in if they don’t persist in unbelief (see Romans 11:23).

      3. Dear Victoria.

Shalom, so true. We are grafted. And since God is able to graft us, He will surely be able to graft back non-believing Jews, as He desires.

        Isaiah 45:17
But Israel will be saved by the LORD with an everlasting salvation; you will never be put to shame or disgraced, to ages everlasting.

        Romans 11:26
and in this way all Israel will be saved. As it is written: “The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob.

      4. Dear Benleem, to read about your mom has blessed me. A Faithful Servant is what i pray to be “Tillthe End”. The fact is i would raither be with 10 Faithful christains then 50 half-baked ones. Our LORD is not interested in numbers…HE is looking for Faithfulness. The LORD was tempted in the Wilderness for 40 days. if Satan thought he could pull that off on The Son of G-D, where does that leave us? We are sinful creatures, HE who had NO sin died on that Cross for me “a sinner” Saved by Amazing Grace! Our Hope,is in The Resurrection NOT in this evil evil World. May Our Saviour grant us HIS Amazing Grace to endure till the end.Amen

      5. Hi Gloria J,

        You wrote,

“Be grateful as a gentile that HE has grafted you into the Jewish Root Israel.”

        Myself a Gentile,

Rom 11:24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree?
Rom 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery…

I can only say Amen to that and be grateful.

      6. Hello Ivar,

These scriptures you quoted show that God has not hardened Israel forever. We both make Israel-the believing Gentiles and believing Jews together. That way with Israel still having a chance at salvation, together with Gentiles, all Israel will be saved. Doesn’t mean all of the Jews will be saved.
For we know that the Bible tells us not many Jews will be saved, nor many of any race.

    3. I apologize Todd for now answering. And to all I have a few family members that have been ill.

But most importantly I have left them in the hands of my King and Savior Jesus Christ, who is near and will come.

You have gotten great answers to your questions Todd 🙂 and always believe in the Word which is the complete truth in Jesus Christ.

  9. I just LOVE this posting ivarfJeld….what an honest writing to. It is so true, unintentionally we can become prideful in our ability to help others. It’s something that I am somewhat struggling with myself. I enjoy giving and helping others, I never forget the source of where my blessings for others come from. Please keep me in your prayers .
    God Bless,

    Jordan R.

  10. Amen Ivar! Preach the Word, be instant (ready) in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort (advise) with all longsuffering and doctrine. 2 Timothy 4:2. That is what your doing. God Bless you, I love your website! It does bless me and I learn.

  11. Excellent response regarding the Martin Luther comment. As Paul said, ‘He was a fool for Christ’, 2 Corinthians 12:6-12 as we all who claim His Name should be willing, able, and commited to repeat……….

Keep up your given and inspired work, as you are making a difference for His Kingdom…

  12. Hey Ivar.

In your try to be humble, you managed to name most of your qualities.

    Flot klaret!

  13. To Ivar: Thanks for clarifying that humbleness is important. I agree with you in your opinion about the Catholic church and their falsehood and about the beloved country of Israel.
But it would make a greater impact if you did not write who and where people would end up in the afterlife. Since only God knows this! You could have your suspicion but you can never know. So even if a pope seems to be lost and acting false it is not our opinion to say what his judgement would be. We should warn others of his false teaching instead and leave the judgement to the God of Israel.

And you still have not answered how the thief on the cross can be in heaven before the resurrection of the righteous have taken place from an old post discussion? If that is what you believe? I believe that he is with Lazarus in paradise waiting for the return of Jesus and the resurrection. Just as the Bible says. So please clarify your position here. Sometimes pentecostals forget to read their bible and listen to their leaders instead, who base their teachings more on feeling and pentecostal tradition then on the Word, i´m sorry to say. So I write this since you wrote about pride and humbleness and I hope you have time to answer.

  14. Here’s my two cents

Those two concepts are sort of the same thing. All have sinned, the penalty for sin is death, nobody would be saved without forgiveness of sins. Nobody can undo their sins, therefore nobody is saved by their own deeds, only by faith. Which has a catch, since if you believe Jesus you would do what He says, “obedience which comes by faith”. And Jesus said to Love your neighbor as yourself, forgive others so that you may be forgiven etc.

Romans 1:5 “Through him we received grace and apostleship to call all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith for his name’s sake.”

    Then hope for the best.
