Bible studies # 29: The Messiah is God that came down from Heaven to save us

Jesus of Nazareth claimed to be «I am», God Him self. The Jewish prophet Isaiah foretold that a child would be born, a Son, that would be called Mighty God.

Can God come down from Heaven, and walk among us in the form of a man?

Of course He can. Who can stop Him?

Isaiah 9:6

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

The Jewish people in general have been struggling to make sense out of this verse. Because of Jew-hate in the name of «Christianity», they have not been willing to consider if Jesus of Nazareth could be the Messiah. But hardly any person of Jewish origin fits into the prophecies of the Messiah that was promised. Because the Messiah was supposed to make God of Israel the one and only God of all the Earth.

Isaiah 54: 5

For your Maker is your husband, the LORD Almighty is his name, the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.

Now, who is that Jew, the Son, who would be called God of all nations?

Jesus Him self claimed to be God, who had come to Earth. Today, He is the only Jew that is known by name in every nation on the face of the Earth. Over a billion people claim that He is God the Son. Is it possible, that they all are wrong

John 8:58
I tell you the truth, Jesus answered, before Abraham was born, I am.

John 10:30
I and the Father are one.

Mark 12:29
The most important one, answered Jesus, is this: Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.

Claiming to be God, and One with His Father, thats why the religious leaders of His days wanted to kill Him. They felt He was a threat to their authority over the people. The Messiah was betrayed, and handed over to be crucified by sinful men.

Please do not forget that the Messiah is not dead. He paid the perfect atonement for our sins, was crucified and rose from the grave after three days. He is alive. Give your life to Him.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

  1. He came the first time as “…the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world” and He is coming again, soon, as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah to judge the nations, for not believing in Him, and to become our Righteous King! “Every knee will bow, every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. Amen.

  2. I should have quoted the complete quote from Philippians 2:9-11. Here it is: “Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.” AMEN!

    1. Amen!

“Who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high” (Heb. 1:3).

The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!”

  3. “Because of Jew-hate in the name of «Christianity», they have not been willing to consider if Jesus of Nazareth could be the Messiah”.

That statement is certainly not true of their original reason for rejecting Jesus Christ. And it should also be rememberd that it was them who were the persecutors of Christians at the outset, and some still do today.

It is the truth that sets free. So don’t try covering it up!

      My comment:

You have a valid point. The original reason’s for not accepting Jesus were many. But do not forget that many Jews accepted Him. All the first Messianic believers were Jews.

When the Roman Catholic cult appear around 315 A.S, and starts to forbid everything Jewish related to a Jew named Jesus, many Jews got killed for their Messianic faith. Massacred by butches wearing crucifixes.

The lawless Pope’s gave the Jews who did not accept the Lordship of Jesus, gave the Jewish people many reasons to stay away from the wicked ways of the Roman Catholics. The antichrists main target is true Christianity. It has to be changed, deleted or destroyed.

  4. There’s still room for disagreement on the meaning of “One” , Some passages seem to imply the Father and Son are seperate entities. But are one, as in agreement. One being a metaphor like the three musketeers saying “one for all and all for one” Jesus was made Lord over all creation but not over God himself.

1 cor 15:27 For he “has put everything under his feet.” Now when it says that “everything” has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ.

Col 1:15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

    1. Dear Ed.

      Shalom.

The Jehovah’s witnesses hold on to the teaching that “Jesus” is the firstborn of God. He is created by God, and though him, all things were created.

This might sounds reasonable, but it is heretic. This is called Arianism, and is not evangelical Christianity.

If Jesus had a beginning, he is simply not eternal. He is not divine, but created. People who believe in such a “Jesus”, have been deceived to follow one of many copy cats.

      1. Hello Ivarfjeld,

I don’t think anybody has it right 100%. To deny he was created sort of denies he has come in the flesh which defines what we understand as created, visible to us. The Apostle Paul was not a Jehovah’s witness. Paul says Jesus was created and clearly distinguishes between Jesus and God. Adam was a pattern for Jesus, Romans 5:14….as did Adam, who was a pattern of the one to come (Jesus). But Jesus is the firstborn into the resurrection, so maybe it means created into the next world. And if Jesus is the savior that would be consistent that all things are created by Him or born into eternal life.

But confusing for sure, I sympathize with the Jehova’s witnesses for struggling with how he can be both the creator and also created 2000 years ago. God is above Jesus currently; the Apostle Paul goes on to say that after death is thrown down God will be One All in all. How do we know that hasn’t occured yet? Because death still reigns.

1 cor 15:26 “The last enemy to be destroyed is death.”

1 cor 15:27 For he “has put everything under his feet.” Now when it says that “everything” has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ.

1 cor 15:28 “When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all.”

      2. Dear Ed.

        Shalom.

I have earlier asked you if you are a JV, but you have denied that. Now you confess that you share one of their core doctrines. A satanic lie, presented as the truth.

Jesus is surely not created. He is the creator, the eternal rock. If you say this to be false, you have rejected the divinity of the Messiah. You follow a copy cat, and will be led into all kinds of errors. Also replacement theology.

The idea of replacement theology, is that Christianity starts with Jesus the Messiah being born by a virgin, the Jewish lady who birthed the Messiah into the flesh.

The evil ideology of Replacement theology deny that Jesus is eternal, and that He is the author of the Old Testament. This falsehood rejects that the Messiah will stand by the eternal promises of His Co-creators. God the Father and God the Holy Spirit.

      3. depends what they mean by firstborn. Surely Jesus is the firstfruits they talk about in scriptures, The “firstborn” of the resurrection, there is no denying that. But If Jesus was resurrected by God how can he be God, or if he was the Son who did the will of the Father how is he both Son and Father unless both the Father and Son are God who are One. And if they were completely One how can one be subject to the other. You see the problems with a simple explanation of scriptures don’t you?

      4. Dear Ed.

        Shalom.

No human reasoning can fully understand eternal. Not even you.

Elohim is not a singular word. It is plural. God is “us”. Let us create. Jesus is the firstborn of Miriam, but begotten of the Father.

You can not create God. Either you are the creator, or you are created. Either Jesus is God, or He is not.

      5. Well one way of looking at it is how Jesus described the temple, every part of the temple is the temple. Then every part of God is God. Like Christians are called the body of Christ. God is good therefore all that is good is part of God…etc. There are different parts but according to Paul Christ is not the head, the Father God is the head. But also goes on to say we only know in part, only when we see for ourselves at the second coming can we understand fully. enough said out of me…

  5. Jesus is the fleshly manifestation of the invisible GOD Jehovah! Jesus told his followers that “no man could take his life:that he laid it down freely( allowed men to murder him) and he would take it (his life) up again” . Speaking of his resurrection! Jesus accepted worship from men and god does not share his glory and Jesus asked to be glorified with the same glorification he had with God! There are far too many scripture verses that prove that Jesus is Almighty God for any one to not accept!

    1. Jesus is the Son of the Almighty Lord God our heavenly Father.
In Revelation when Jesus sets up His 1000 year reign in new Jerusalem he prays to His Father day and night.
When Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemene He prayed to His Father that this cup be taken away from Him(meaning His crucifiction) but only if it was the Fathers will.
The Lord God Almighty has no Father nor Mother nor beginning nor end.
He is Spritual and can abtain Human form as He did when He visited Abraham at the time of Sodom amd Gommorahs destruction.
The Holy Lord God Almighty our Heaveny Father comes upon His children in Spirit as the Holy Spirit and He talks through us.
Read the Bible and tell me if their is falseness in my words.
Then read Revelation and be blessed.
      Peace be unto you
      Amen

  6. We are all alright, we dont have to be saved from anyone. Please ask your messiah to save those thousands of innocent children being sexually abused by the so called “messengers of gods” – priests and bishops.

    1. Dear Rocker.

      Shalom.

Even if a million people misuse the name of “god”, God of the Bible will still be the same. Please do not blame Jesus, for all the priests and leaders who misuse His name. Please do not blame Jesus, if you see me fall into sin, or commit a mistake.

      1. Then, there is no need for god to interfere with us or save us (only god or his inventors should know, save what?) when he cant save those thousands of innocent children, despite being all powerful. If I was a god and if I have a knowledge of these idiots, abusing little children, I wont keep quiet, would you?? Then, your god is fit for nothing.

      2. Dear Rocker

        Shalom.

Be sure that God do not let sin go unpunished. But the revenge, and the punishment is His. We are called to be helpful, and bless even our worst enemies.

Many of the Roman Catholic priests who abuse children, turns mad. This is a taboo of the Vatican, not spoken about in Catholic circles. But they have insane elderly priests in their thousands, who are locked up and kept away from the public. I believe God leave them alone with the evil spirits and demons they have summoned and served.

  7. Rocker,

We all (and this includes you) need to be saved from the consequences of our sin. You were born into a life of sin—just as I and every other human being was/is.

It was man’s free will that put sin into the world and that infection came to infect everyone except Jesus.

We are allowed to continue living in sin or we can come to faith in the Messiah and be cleansed of our sin—it is the choice of every person. Those who do not claim the Blood of Christ over their sin, will go to hell upon their deaths—in order to pay for their sins. You do not understand what an extraordinary gift is given to us in the Messiah. If you did, it would defy logic that you could dismiss it so lightly. A life of gross sin will be followed by terrible punishment—especially for those who have pretended to be His emissaries. In the end, no one will say that God is not just.

I understand that you do not believe or love God but consider the testimony of those who have chosen death, down through the centuries, rather than deny their Lord. All who come to faith in Him give their life for Him, in one way or another. That is what real faith looks like.

Faith is a gift but our loving Lord supplies it to all who ask. He would give it to you as well. Ask Him to forgive your sin and make you one of His own. You likely have Christians among your forebears–and a promise was given to them. Heaven waits your decision. Make the right one and all will rejoice. “Today is the day of salvation.” There may not be a tomorrow for any of us—including you.

I could understand your position if this world was all there is. But this world is a mere preamble to the life to come. I would trade a thousand lifetimes of misery in this world for an eternity of bliss with our loving Savior—in the company of all His servants. Eternity. Think about it.
