Bibles are banned during London Olympics 2012

Although Bibles with the Olympics logo were handed out in Communist China, they won’t be at London 2012.

London ban Bibles and exposure of anything Christian during the Olympics.

Under the Communist regime in China, the Bible Society was able to hand out copies of the Good Book with the Olympic logo emblazoned on the front cover at the 2008 games. At London 2012, however, it has been ruled out.

“The idea was to give them out during the Olympics, as a Christian welcome to our country,” says the society’s spokesman, Rachel Rounds. “We had a special sports Bible prepared, with extra information in the front about what the Bible has to say about sport.”

The charity has now abandoned the idea because of Olympic rules regarding the use of the logo.

“The Olympic movement has always been clear that it should not be used to promote any religion,” says a source at the Games. “We have a multi-faith centre at the Olympic Park, where people can find Bibles. In Beijing, these Bibles appeared out of nowhere. They were not approved by the Chinese government.”

My comment:

It is high time for evangelical Christians to accept that the Post Christian society in the West, is more anti-Christian than many totalitarian dictatorships.

So please stop playing by the rules set by anti-Christians, and start working like the persecuted early Church. You do not ask pagans for permission. Just do it.

Secular and hedonist nations like the UK, Sweden and Norway do not want to know anything about sin and judgment. They like to believe that there is no “god” and no consequences of a life in denial.

Many Muslims fails to understand how nations they consider to be Christians can turn completely godless.

For Hindus it is close to impossible to imagine that a man can deny that there are “gods”.  Many Muslims and Hindus search for the truth about “god”.  They are right in their projections, that the Western nations are the most ungodly of them all.

    1. Dear Sue.

      Shalom.

People in the West live on an illusion that their nation is “Christian”. I can tell you by experience, that India is more open to Christianity than Norway. The large majority of Hindus have very little objection to Jesus. For them, He is “a god”.

But for a Hindu, “Jesus” is one in a million. During a conversation with a Hindu, the challenge is to make Him listen to the Holy Spirit. When the truth about Jesus is spoken, the spirit will cut people in their heart. There is only ONE WAY. Not two, nor a dozen or more.

In Norway, few if any “nominal Christian”, is willing to talk about faith. Forget about opening a Bible, in a bid to show them a verse or two.

  1. The reason India is more receptive to the gospel is most likely because it is a poor nation. Doubt and skepticism is easier accepted by the privileged because they don’t “need” God. They are deceived because they think they are self reliant and forget every good thing is a gift from God.

  2. Sue you have seen only one facet of India; but It is a prosperous nation.
But the last paragraph of Ivar means business; there is a quest for TRUTH

  3. India is certainly not poor, it has a space programme and its economy grows somewhat like China, and will dwarf the west in the not too distant future, however it has issues of poverty and a massive population like China does which will not be addressed overnight, non the less with its massive cheap labour force it will attract more and more investment from the western nations and if time permits take its place at the table of wealthy nations ahead of Britain, Europe and America, The blog writer is correct, why ask permission, the west and Britain in particular is anti Christ in its mentality these days, just do it, read Tortured for Christ by Richard Wurmbrand and see how the underground church spread the gospel in such times.

  4. I’m sorry, whereabouts did they say that bibles would be banned? They just said that, according to Olympic rules, they can’t personally circulate them. If you even read the quotes you used, you would notice that they even designed bibles especially for the games. They also said that they would be providing them at the multifaith centre. So where does this “ban” come in?

    1. I second that, Trenton.

Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake. For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing. Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.

If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people’s matters.
