Jewish ladies that dresses like men provokes anger in Jerusalem

Anat Hoffman leads a rebellion within Judaism. A rebellion of lawlessness.

The Women of the Wall provokes Jews who wants to obey the law of Moses

As a gentile, I am not suppose to use the law to judge people around me. They do not have the Law, and do obviously to not live by it.  But when I relate to religious Jews who are not Messianic Jews, I can apply the Law of Moses.

What kind of rebellion is Anat Hoffman leading?

Is it a godly rebellion against the misuse of the Law, or is it a rebellion of lawlessness?

The “Women of the Wall group” prepares to open a Torah scroll at the Western Wall, Judaism’s holiest site.

Anat Hoffman should not dress like a man, when she pray at the Western Wall.

And how do they dress?

They dress like Jewish men, with kipa. They want to be acknowledged as male Rabbis, teachers of Judaism.

What do the law say about such a dress code.

Deuteronomy 22:5

A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this.

Within Messianic Judaism, the Law of Moses has been deeply explained by Jesus. He enlarged the priesthood from being a limited male priesthood of Aaron, to be a priesthood of all believers. Both men and women.

But the Jewish priesthood of Aaron is still en everlasting priesthood of men. Either these women like it or not.

Exodus 29:9

and put headbands on them. Then tie sashes on Aaron and his sons. The priesthood is theirs by a lasting ordinance. In this way you shall ordain Aaron and his sons.

And this is what the Jewish Apostle Paul says about the enlarged New Testament priesthood. A call to walk in Christ likeness, as explained by Rabbi Jesus.

Galatians 3:27-29.

for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Jesus did not change the dress code of women, so they could dress like men. Neither did He replace the Jewish male priesthood of Aaron. Such action would make Jesus a lawbreaker.

So what should these women do?

Let them accept Y’shua (Jesus) and become Messianic Jews. Than they do not have to pretend to be male priests, but can still be daughters of God Most High and continue in the ministry of salvation by His mercy and grace.

    1. Dear Michelle.

Shalom, and thanks for reading this article.

The Law of Moses was given to the Jewish people, for their education. The Bible explains that the Law shall also reach other people.

      Isaiah 2:3
Many peoples will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.” The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

The Messiah is the Law and the lawgiver. He has reached all nations, and saved a not-Jewish wreck like me.

You are right. There might be different dress codes for men and women in different cultures. But the dress code is never unisex.

      1. (you sound like a gentile indeed)
        hi ivar,
if you are trying to say that Messsiah is the Law and it stops there for the gentiles, you are seriously mistaken. the Law was given to moses because it had to start somewhere. this same Law was given to the jewish people for their own education so to THEN educate the rest of humanity – not just themselves (“Let no foreigner who has bound himself to the Lord say, ‘The Lord will surely exclude me from his people[ …]these I will bring to my Holy mountain'[…]” Isa.56:1-8 (salvation to the jew first, then the gentile). it was for this very reason that they were chosen. (when YAWH punishes the isrealites it is because they may become a bad influence on others (or a poor example of what a servant is to do by not properly revering the Law of G-d , or indirectly making G-d look weak…whatever…) not neccesarily because they are transgressing the law per se. Messiah died and rose again to cover the law transgressions of all of humanity – for those whose hearts are sincere – jew and gentile alike. Yshua Messiah kept the Law to the letter…He did not do according to His own will, therefore the Law is indeed a seperate entity to the Man. in the end, we will be judged according to how well we RESPECTED THE LAW: to love YHWY and each other in action and heart – not necessarily on how well we respected Yshua. what i mean is that the respect we show Yshua/Jesus is a witness unto Him and unto the world that we acknowledge Him as ‘G-d’s chosen servant’ and ultimately the Messiah. this belief becomes a “witness unto the world”, but He Himself said that calling Him ‘LORD LORD’ will not guarantee you salvation on the Great and Dreadful Day. please take the time to read these passages carefully. (everything i said can be found herein):
        MATTHEW:
        ch5:18-20, ch12:31-32, ch19:16-19, ch21:43, ch22:36-40, ch23:13-14, ch24:4-5, ch25:31-46.
like it or not, it’s really all about the Law (which is the Heart and Spirit and Will of The Father) it’s not all about the Son. The Son came to Fulfill the Will of His Father, Whom The Son ALWAYS stated was in Heaven. Yshua came FROM the Father. He is The Father’s Right Arm (read the book of Isaiah carefully, this fact is stated in there NUMEROUS times…ex,ch40:10) which makes Yshua a seperate entity, yet from the same source.
understand this: Yeshua is not The Father nor is He The Law. He is The Lamb of G-d who was a
sevant SENT FROM G-d who while on earth respected and obeyed both G-d and Law.
We as Christians are to follow His lead. Yshua was a true Jew in every sense of the word. (the only Law He did away with, so to speak, was the need to sacrifice an animal. Yshua was the ultimate and only sacrifice to wipe away the stain of transgression. this is why it is written that he FULFILLED the Law.)

with all of this said, the isrealites carried a heavy burden and still do. they deserve our gratitude and sympathy for that reason. they have always been on the enemy’s radar because they were chosen to protect the word.

“[…]The kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.”
        Matthew ch13, vs.45-46

we need to forget what the pagan churches have taught us and re-read the Bible without interuption.

        shalom.

      2. Dear Michelle.

Shalom, and thanks for a reflective comment.

        You wrote:

        My reply:

Yeshua said I and the Father are One. Isaiah 9:6 explains that the Son will be called Mighty God. John chapter 1 says He is the Word (Law) that became flesh (man). The Jewish Apostles John explains that the Word (Law) is God.

        John 1:1
[ The Word Became Flesh ] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

I never said that followers of Yeshua shall not follow the Law. I said He is the the Law (Word) and also the lawgiver (God). Father, Son and Spirit are One God. Three in One. Always in agreement.

        You wrote:

        Amen. We agree.

      3. Dear Michelle

Shalom. You are right. I did not read all your scripture references before i replied. There were a lot of them. I just replied to explain that i support the very central doctrine of the true Messianic faith:

Jesus walking in flesh a (human being) on Earth was fully God. He is the Alpha and Omega. He has no beginning and no end.

  1. Hi Ivar,

The Lord created women and men different for a reason. They compliment each other. It is very hard for some women to accept that God put man as an authority over her. Not in a brutish, controlling way but in a loving, protective way. Men are under the Lord’s authority and that symbolism is portrayed in the covering of one’s head. I have compassion on these women who hunger for His Word, but they will not fill their hunger by dressing like men and thwarting authority.

Jesus’s Blood covers us all as our High Priest. Yes, let’s pray for their conversion.

    Galatians 3:28
There can be neither Jew nor Greek, there can be neither bond nor free, there can be no male and female; for ye all are one man in Christ Jesus.

    1. Dear Sue

Shalom, and thanks for blessings and support.

We have the same issue in the Lutheran Church movement, Ladies that wants to become Aroonite priests. There is simply no Biblical defense for such an Old Testament female priesthood.

That there is no place for an Aroonite priesthood in the New Testament Church, that is the flip side of the coin.

  2. I don’t see a problem with women being priest or rabbi, it should be equal opportunity and women do have great teachings as well as men.

    1. hi,
when a woman stands before a group of people to speak, the men aren’t always listening to what she’s saying. this was the original reason why women were told to cover up in a place of worship.
(less distractions for the um..weaker sex..)
