On March 16, 1977, Kamal Jumblat was assassinated by the Syrians. Now his son wants the same Syrian-Iranian forces to arm Lebanon for the final battle with Israel.
Walid Jumblatt was until two months ago looked up on as a supporter of the pro-Western forces in Lebanon, that has resisted Syrian influence in Beirut, and refused to support demands from the military wing of Hizbullah.
Thats why the u-turn of leader of the Druse minority in Lebanon is a wake up call for Israel. A long time potential partner for peace between Lebanon and Israel, have turned a tool for he Ayatollah in Tehran.
Lebanese Druse leader Walid Jumblatt told an Iranian news source that his country should turn to Iran for weapons to counter an Israeli attack.
«Israel is not hiding that, they are saying we will attack or we will one day come to Lebanon again», said Jumblatt to Press TV in Beirut on Saturday.
Jumblatt also called for the opening of contacts between Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Iran, claiming that unity among them will discourage an Israeli attack against Lebanon or Iran.
«We need anti-tank weapons and anti-aircraft weapons… I think we can find such weapons in Iran or in Russia or in China», said the leader of Lebanon’s Progressive Socialist Party, a faction dominated by the country’s Druse community and once a key part of the pro-Arab and pro-Palestinian National Liberation Movement.
«Americans are not really willing to provide us with such weapons. They will tell you these weapons will be used against Israelis. Okay, but my enemy is Israel» added Jumblatt».

The Druze minority in Lebanon have always been skeptical to the influence of Syria in Lebanese politics, business and society. Today, 32 years after Kamal Jumblat was assassinated, the Druze sides with Radical Islam, and wants to be sponsored by not only Syria, but even Iran.
Jumblatt says Israel says they will «invade» Lebanon again. That is not correct. If there is no hostile fire into Israel from Lebanon, the IDF will never again enter Lebanese soil.
For the Western powers, this is a major blow to their promoted «peace plans» between Israel an their Arab neighbors. Because if Lebanon becomes a puppet for the Ayathollah in Theran, both Jordan and Egypt might oppose any negotiated deal thats includes Lebanon. And as long as there is no peace at Israels northern borders, there is really no true peace at all.
