Postmen in Israel create trouble for Messianic Jews

New Testaments sparks controversy among Israeli postmen.

Messianic Jews find it more and more difficult to spread the good news inside Israel.

A controversy was brewing this week when a handful of postmen from the Ramat Gan suburb of Tel Aviv refused to deliver packages containing the New Testament.

Initial reports in the Israeli press did not specify which organization had mass-mailed the copies of the New Testament to Israeli households, but it is not uncommon for some Christian and Messianic groups to do so.

Upon discovering what they were delivering, a number of Orthodox Jewish mailmen informed their superiors that they would not fulfill their obligation to deliver those particular packages.

Speaking to Ynet, several mailmen echoed the widely believed falsehood that it is illegal to proselytize in Israel.

“We always distribute business flyers and we have no problem with that, whether we agree with them or not,” said one postal employee. “But this time it’s different. This is missionary material, and from our understanding there’s a law against that. It’s not a religious issue.”

It is in fact perfectly legal in Israel to share one’s faith with others unsolicited, just as different Orthodox Jewish groups often do at street corners around the country. What is illegal is offering monetary incentives for conversion or proselytizing to minors.

My comment:

It is amazing how the Jewish people accept whatever it is, but not Jews who claim Yeshua is the Messiah.

You might be a robber, a homosexual, or a new ager. No one would object to your Jewishness.  You can even be an anti-Zionist Jew, and support the PLO or Ahmadinejad.

As a Christian Zionist I acknowledge that my Messianic Jewish brothers and sisters are saved. Orthodox Jews are not. That is why it is a duty to preach the gospel to all Jews. Regardless of what kind of “Jew” you might be.

We want to see you all in Heaven.  Since the Torah explains to all Jews, that there is no remission for sins without the sacrifice of blood:

 Hebrews 9:21-23
In the same way, he sprinkled with the blood both the tabernacle and everything used in its ceremonies. In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

What kind of blood is your justification in front of the Lawgiver, a Holy and just God?

Give your life to Yeshua, the Lamb of God. He died on the cross in Jerusalem, shed His blood, and was raised from the dead for your justification. Amen.

Anti-Christian hooliganism in Jerusalem

The well-known “Baptist House” church in central Jerusalem was vandalized overnight.

Vandalism on the walls of a Baptist Church in Jerusalem.

This in a scene that is becoming all too familiar to its congregants.

The perpetrators scrawled anti-Christian slogans on the side of the Baptist House, including: “Death to Christianity”, “Jesus was a son of a whore”, and “We will crucify you”.

Three cars parked at the compound had their tires slashed.

The graffiti also included the phrase “price tag”, leading police to suspect the involvement of radical right-wing elements that have taken to striking out at churches and mosques in response to the Israeli government’s uprooting of Jewish communities in compliance with Arab demands.

“Officers are investigating a strong possibility of a nationalist motive, but no one has been apprehended yet,” said police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld.

Israel’s mainstream nationalist camp has repeatedly denounced the actions of the apparently de-centralized “price tag” gangs.

But the Baptist House has been a target since long before the start of the “price tag” movement. Situated near some of Jerusalem’s most Orthodox neighborhoods, the Baptist House has suffered numerous acts of petty vandalism, and the main sanctuary was set ablaze in 2007.

Looking at the broader picture, some have suggested that the general increase in hostility toward Christians and Messianic Jews in recent years is actually a good sign. As the message of the Gospel reaches more Israelis, increased resistance should be expected.

My comment:

Two things must be said:

1. There is anti-Christian elements within the Jewish people. Many Messianic Jews are badly persecuted by their not saved  Orthodox brothers.

2. The anti-Christian sentiments in Israel comes from a small minority of the Jewish sociality. Most of secular Jews have high regards for evangelical Christian friends of Israel.

It is important that the Jews were not gathered home to Zion because of their righteousness. Through the prophet Ezekiel God of the Bible tells the Jews to be ashamed of their conducts in the diaspora.

Some of the shameful anti-Christian acts have been continued by some also after the homecoming.

 Ezekiel 36:31-33
Then you will remember your evil ways and wicked deeds, and you will loathe yourselves for your sins and detestable practices.  I want you to know that I am not doing this for your sake, declares the Sovereign LORD. Be ashamed and disgraced for your conduct, people of Israel!

The Jews are not different from other sinners, who are in need of salvation. The only salvation comes from Jesus the Messiah.

Those who put the persecution of Messianic believers in Israel under the carpet, are not spirit filled born again believers. Many of them have made Israel and idol, and promote different forms of New Judaism.

They are equally in error as those “Christians” who attack Israel, and deny the eternal promises about the Jewish homeland.

A Letter to a brother in Jerusalem

Dear Brother. Shalom.

Messianic Jews are often misunderstood, accused of not being Jewish enough.

The Messiah is a Jew. Everything about Him is Jewish. To have faith in Jesus (Yeshua) can never be anything but a Jewish faith in God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

The problem is that many false followers if the Messiah have robed Yeshua from His Jewishness. The Messiah joined the celebration of all Jewish festivals. Many false Christians have no clue what Jewish festivals are all about.

I fully understand that many Jews are not able to see that “False Christianity” is not the true faith in the Messiah. They can be seen as strongly opposing the Jews right to a homeland. Both the secular and religious among your brethren have a right to live in Israel, with today’s borders.

But the Messianic Jews are not like that. The large majority of them are strong Zionists, send their children to the IDF, and celebrate all Jewish holidays.  You can not say the same about many groups of Ultra Orthodox Jews. Some of them work for the destruction of the state of Israel.

Hope this was the same Ivar you have come to know, and love.

Sincerely yours.
