Midwesterners accustomed to dealing with snow, sleet and ice have readied themselves for a monster winter storm that could be bigger than many cities in the nation’s midsection have seen in years.

As the storm began its trek across the Midwest, it brought a bit of everything: ice, sleet and snow — even tornadoes were possible. School districts, universities and legislatures closed; airlines canceled thousands of flights; and residents rushed to gather supplies, anticipating they might have to dig out or hunker down.

“I’ve never seen a prediction of what have you — rain, snow, ice, whatever — where people reacted so quickly to it,” Jack Runyon, co-owner of Runyon Equipment Rental in Carmel, Ind.

Cities including St. Louis, Kansas City and Milwaukee could be hardest hit, with expected midweek snowfalls of up to 2 feet and drifts piled 5 to 10 feet. Even hardy Chicago could be in for its third-worst blizzard since record-keeping began, with forecasts calling for up to 20 inches of snow in the city and waves whipping off Lake Michigan.

“`Freaking out’ is a great way of putting it,” St Louis resident Steve Edele said. “The icing — that’s what scares people.”

Severe weather conditions were already reported in several parts of Kansas and Minnesota. In Arkansas, communities anticipated lesser snow totals, but the weather service warned severe thunderstorms could generate freezing rain, hail and isolated tornadoes.

After burying the Midwest, the storm was expected to sweep into the Northeast, parts of which already are on track for record snowfall this winter.

Australia evacuated thousands of people from its northeast coast on Tuesday as a cyclone rivaling Hurricane Katrina bore down on tourism towns and rural communities, with officials saying it could even threaten areas deep inland that were ruined by floods last month.

Mines, rail lines and coal ports were closed in Queensland state as Cyclone Yasi headed toward the coast. Up to a third of Australia’s sugar crop was also under threat, officials said.

“This storm is huge and life threatening,” Queensland Premier Anna Bligh said, warning the system was intensifying and picking up speed on its path from the Coral Sea, with destructive winds expected on Wednesday morning.

Cyclone Yasi is expected to generate winds of up to 280 kph (175 mph) when it hits the northern coast of tropical Queensland state early on Thursday, matching the strength of Katrina, which devastated New Orleans in 2005.

With a strong monsoon feeding Yasi’s 650 km (400 mile) wide front, the storm was also expected to maintain its intensity long after smashing into the coast and could sweep inland as far as the outback mining city of Mt Isa, 900 km (600 miles) inland.

Satellite radar images showed Yasi as a massive storm covering almost the entire Coral Sea and moving toward Australia from near Vanuatu. A sugar industry official said it could threaten about a third of the state’s sugar cane crop.

Romans 8:22 says;

For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.

The earth itself is bucking and heaving under the terrible accumulated weight of human sin and lawlessness.

How long will the Church continue to ignore the signs that the One who created this earth is, in His mercy, sending us to wake us up to what He’s doing and what we need to do to get in line with His Will?

Drug violence escelates along US/Mexico Border

U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has sent a warning to Mexican drug cartels, saying they will be met by a “powerful” response if they cross the border.

DRUG ADICT PERSON — The drug trade and the violence connected with it is destroying the lives of hundreds of millions of people all over the world.

Napolitano made the comments Monday at the University of Texas-El Paso, which sits across the Rio Grande from Ciudad Juarez, a city torn apart by drug-related violence.

She said border patrol arrests – a key indicator of illegal immigration – declined 36 percent in the last two years. She also said the number of deportations rose nearly 70 percent, with 779,000 people being deported.

Revelations 9: 20-21 says;

The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, so as not to worship demons, and the idols of gold and of silver and of brass and of stone and of wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk; and they did not repent of their murders nor of their sorceries nor of their immorality nor of their thefts.

The Greek word used in this passage refers to witchcraft, but it can also refer to drug use, which is often a part of occult practices. The increase in the use of drugs and the violence connected with the drug trade is ravaging the lives of hundreds of millions of people all over the world, but there is hope.

His name is Yeshua Ha’Mashiach (Jesus Christ) and His gift of love and grace is available for all.

In Matthew 11:28 Yeshua said;

Raytheon feeds Saudi with bombs ready for targets in Israel

Raytheon Company signed a contract on Saturday worth USD 475 million with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the combat-proven Paveway family of precision-guided munitions.

Paveway_ILA06 — These high tech American weapons will be useless to the Saudi Air Force but they might come in handy to Al-Qaida when it takes over the Kingdom.

“Raytheon’s Paveway family of weapons provides the warfighter unmatched precision and standoff capability,” said Dr. Taylor W. Lawrence, Raytheon Missile Systems president. “This sale is the latest chapter in Raytheon’s four decade-long commitment to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and regional security in the Arabian Gulf.”

“By using many of our usual suppliers to produce Paveway subcomponents, the contract keeps Americans employed,” said Mike Jarrett, vice president of Supply Chain Management at RMS.

My comments;

The US government has a policy of selling advanced weapons to its Arab allies in the Persian Gulf in an effort to deter Iran. But as I’ve said before in this blog, this is a fools errand since the Iranians are convinced that if they die in a war with the “infidels” (and they include Sunni Moslem Arabs as infidels) they will go straight to paradise and they also believe that in order to usher in the 12^th Imam who their religion tells them will save humanity, they must set the world on fire by launching wars, and they won’t be deterred from this by Saudi Arabian pilots armed with American bombs, no matter how sophisticated.

Beyond that, at the risk of sounding racist, giving high tech weapons to the Arabs is a waste of time, since their governments have a policy of not allowing the military to become well trained enough to really do their job because that would risk a military takeover of these countries. The Iranians know this, and they also know that these high tech gadgets and weapons will not present a serious threat to them in any case.

“Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me.

The most likely users of these weapons will be Al-Qaida, if and when it ever manages to take political control over Saudi Arabia, as it has always wanted to do. If that ever happens, these high tech weapons will be far more likely to be used against Israel than Iran.

But like the man said, selling these weapons (part of a vast increase in global production and sales of weapons, despite the global recession) will preserve American jobs , and in this lingering era of global economic pain, that consideration seems to be more important than anything else.

NATO commanders admit, Somali pirates getting better

Somali pirates’ use of “mother ships” to attack their prey is complicating foreign navies’ efforts to improve safety in the Indian Ocean.

US Navy — The US Seventh fleet battles piracy on the high seas just off the oil belt in the Middle East.

The vessels offer greater physical protection during boarding and whose kidnapped crews act as human shields.

Pirate of Somalia — Pirates off Somolia are a symptom of the lawlessness that Jesus warned would be common near the end of the Age.

“Pirates have gone high tech and few use speed boats.

They have switched to usage of motherships,” Commodore Michiel Hijmans of the Dutch Navy, who currently commands NATO’s Ocean Shield anti-piracy mission.

“The pirates can operate in the sea for long as they load the mother ships with enough food, fuel and militant weapons ready for a hijacking spree.

Pirates are getting smarter every hour… Pirates do not give up unless they cannot board or are threatened. I’m afraid that the war on piracy might not be won until there is a stable government in Somalia.”

Hijmans said Somali pirates were currently holding 28 ships and 654 crew members.

In Matthew 24:12, Jesus warned that in the End Times,

Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold.

We are swiftly moving into the end of this Age, and an era of increasing violence, chaos, disorder and lawlessness. Such conditions existed in several European countries in the period between the World Wars, and the people responded by allowing tyrannical dictators to arise and rule over them. These dictators led them, and the world, into a glimpse of Hell.

People will soon be overwhelmed by the growing anarchy in the world and this time they will allow an even worse dictator to arise, a man who will indeed crush the forces of disorder with an iron fist and bring about a global government which will brutally establish law and order. But he will also destroy freedom and set himself up as the god of this world, in direct and explicit defiance of the God of the Bible.

This man will be known as the Beast, the anti-Christ, and the personal representative of Lucifer the Devil in this world.

He is coming soon, we must be praying for ourselves and those we love not to be deceived by him. He will offer us safety, but the only safety we have is in Jesus Christ.
