Baseless Apartheid accusations against Israel

The former U.S. president Jimmy Carter was in December 2006 quoted by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz for saying: « Israeli policy in the West Bank represented instances of apartheid worse even that those that once held sway in South Africa».

This statement must have made Carter very popular in the Islamic World. But does his claims make sense? What are the possible similarities between the Apartheid regime in South Africa who ruled from 1948 to 1991, and modern day Israel? And what are the obvious differences?

Those who claims that Israel is an Apartheid regime, claims that the Arab Muslim minority is discriminated based on their color, creeds, religion and race, compared to the civil rights of the Jewish majority in Israel.

Nothing could be further from the truth. While the black majority in South Africa was banned from voting, banned from organizing them self in political parties, jailed for their political opinions, banned from owning land, and banned from educating them selves to certain skills reserved for the white minority, all this civil rights are available for two million Arab Israelis, the majority of them Muslims.

In Apartheid South Africa, it was even a criminal offense for a white person to have sex with a black person. There was also a Law which banned appeals against forced removal of a black worker, robbing the black majority for any kind of basic human rights.

To the rather opposite of what the Islamic World and ex-president Carter claims, its the Radical Islamic World who have created several Apartheid regimes in the Middle East. Banning Jews and Christians from the same civil rights, which they wrongly claim the nation of Israel have denied its Arab Muslim population. The best proof of the true face of Islam, can be seen in Bethlehem, the birth place of Jesus. After the Palestinian authority took over control of the city, the Christian population has been intimidated. Ultimately, the Christian population have declined from being a majority to become a minority of 20 per cent. During the Jewish control in Bethlehem, Christians enjoyed full protection and prosperity.

In Gaza, Hamas displayed its true colors when they executed their rivals in Al Fatah, by throwing them off the roofs of tall buildings. No justice, no mercy, only rootless evil. No rule of law, not even Apartheid-laws.

Israel hands Russia ownership of Jerusalem site

JERUSALEM – Israel is handing back ownership of a czarist-era landmark in the heart of Jerusalem to Russia, defusing a long-simmering dispute between the two countries right before Israel’s leader visits Moscow.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office has not disclosed the agenda for Thursday’s visit but he is expected to urge Moscow not to sell sophisticated missiles to Syria and to support efforts to keep Iran’s nuclear ambitions in check.

The return of ownership of the property known as Sergei’s Courtyard, approved in 2008, appeared to be a goodwill gesture ahead of the visit.

The hewn stone building, built in 1890 to accommodate Russian pilgrims to the Holy Land, is a prominent edifice on the Jerusalem landscape with its soaring turret and lush garden. About a dozen workers were moving crates out of the building Monday and loading them into trucks.

“Israel is vacating Sergei’s Courtyard in accordance with the understandings reached between Israel and the Russian Federation,” an Israeli official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the matter with the media.

The site was named for Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich, a son of Czar Alexander III, and is part of a complex known as the Russian Compound. Israel bought most of it from the Soviet Union in the early 1960s, paying with oranges because it didn’t have hard currency.

Israel seized control of it after the Soviet Union severed ties with the Jewish state following the 1967 Mideast war. The two countries restored ties in 1991 and negotiations to return the courtyard ownership to Russia began in the 1990s.

In 2005, then-Prime Minister Ariel Sharon promised former Russian President Vladimir Putin the land would be returned. Three years later, Israeli Cabinet formally agreed to hand over the courtyard, which now houses offices of Israel’s Agriculture Ministry and the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel.

My Comment:

By giving Russia ownership of a Jerusalem site, Israel is opening a huge can of worms, and leaving themselves wide open for Russia, who will in the end deceive and attack them.

The word “Gog” mentioned in the Holy Word of God been determined by many Bible historians/scholars to be referring to what is now Russia. And since we are living in the end of age, Russia will be one of the countries who will descend onto Israel to try and destroy the land and people.

Ezekiel 39

¹ “Son of man, prophesy against Gog and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against you, Gog, chief prince of Meshek and Tubal. ² I will turn you around and drag you along. I will bring you from the far north and send you against the mountains of Israel. ³ Then I will strike your bow from your left hand and make your arrows drop from your right hand. ⁴ On the mountains of Israel you will fall, you and all your troops and the nations with you. I will give you as food to all kinds of carrion birds and to the wild animals. ⁵ You will fall in the open field, for I have spoken, declares the Sovereign LORD. ⁶ I will send fire on Magog and on those who live in safety in the coastlands, and they will know that I am the LORD.

But Jesus Christ is in control, and will destroy the enemies of Israel, bringing judgment to all who is against Israel.

⁷ “‘I will make known my holy name among my people Israel. I will no longer let my holy name be profaned, and the nations will know that I the LORD am the Holy One in Israel. ⁸ It is coming! It will surely take place, declares the Sovereign LORD. This is the day I have spoken of.

And they will plunder those who plundered them and loot those who looted them, declares the Sovereign LORD.

UN Chief urges false “Peace Agreement” for Israel

The United Nations political affairs chief on Thursday warned the Security Council of developments in Israeli-Palestinian talks and in Lebanon which have heightened tensions in the region.

“As a new year begins, hopefully one of progress in Middle East peacemaking, several challenges are present,” said the Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, B. Lynn Pascoe, at an open debate of the Council on the situation in the Middle East.

“We are seriously concerned at the continuing lack of progress in the search for a negotiated settlement. Peace and Palestinian statehood cannot be further delayed.”

Regarding Gaza, Mr. Pascoe voiced extreme concern over the situation in the past month, including an increase in tensions.

“We condemn the indiscriminate firing of projectiles towards Israeli civilian areas by Palestinian militants,” Mr. Pascoe told the Council members. “We equally stress that all parties must refrain from actions contrary to international humanitarian law which target or endanger civilians. A new outbreak of major hostilities would be devastating and must be avoided.”

On relations between Israel and Syria, Mr. Pascoe expressed regret over the lack of progress in the effort to promote peace between the two countries, despite continuing contacts by diplomatic actors, and noted that resolution of the conflict between the two countries is critical for regional stability.

My comments;

There is an old saying that even a stopped clock is right twice a day. The UN has a long history of hostility to Israel but even this corrupt organization can see that the Hamas terrorist militia which rules the Gaza Strip is wrong to launch missiles at unarmed civilians in Israel.

That having been said, the UN is, as usual, looking for a “solution” which will in fact only bring more problems. The establishment of a Palestinian State in Judea and Samaria (known to most of the world as the “West Bank”) would not bring peace because it would not remain in place for more than a few weeks.

The Palestinian Authority that the UN, US and EU have poured so much time, money, effort and energy into building up, with the hope that it will someday be able to govern a future Palestinian State, will be quickly overthrown by Hamas, just as Hamas kicked them out of Gaza in 2007.

The only solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the only thing which will bring peace to the Holy Land, is when the Prince of Peace, Yeshua Ha’Mashiach (Jesus Christ) is reigning in the hearts of the people who live there. This is also the only way there will ever be peace anywhere in the world, because the human race won’t be at peace with itself until it is at peace with its Creator.

Jordan forces businessmen to cut trade with Israel

Jordan’s Anti-Normalization Committee on Tuesday threatened to publish names of three traders as “normalizes” unless they cut their business ties with Israel.

Activists have held meetings with the three businessmen and urged them to stop importing Israeli products or risk having their names published as part of a nationwide campaign to end normal ties with Israel.

“We got in touch with many businessmen who used to deal with Israel and they listened to our advice and stopped their activities. We urge the three remaining businessmen to follow suit,” said Badi Rafaya, a resident of the Professional Associations Council’s Anti-Normalization Committee.

“Our goal is not to tarnish the reputation of others. We only want to end normalization with Israel.”

IAFJordan-REUTERS — The Moslem extremist organizations have been gaining ground in Israel's near neighbor.

Israelis and face losing membership in their associations if they are found to have any ties with Israel. Under the law, association membership is mandatory for all practicing doctors, along with engineers, lawyers, nurses and pharmacists, among other professions. The engineers association has been leading an anti-normalization campaign since the signing of the 1994 Wadi Araba Peace Treaty between Jordan and Israel.

My comment:

Going back to before the foundation of the State of Israel in 1948, the Jordanian royal family had a good, but quiet, relationship with the Jewish community and even when Jordan fought against Israel in 1948 and 1967, it was only with the greatest of reluctance and out of fear that the other Arab States would retaliate against them if they didn’t fight Israel.

In 1994, the Jordanian government formalized their non-conflict with the Jewish State.

But the population of Jordan is overwhelmingly Moslem, and close to 65% of the people who live in Jordan identify as “Palestinians” since they are descended from people who fled Israel after the 1948 and 1967 conflicts.

These people are watched with great suspicion/fear by the Jordanian government and its excellent security forces, who are made up of Bedouin tribes and trained, equipped and financed by the US and UK. The main job of the Jordanian Army is not to protect the country from outsiders, but to keep the Palestinian part of the population under control.

This precarious situation cannot last forever, and sooner or later, Israel’s eastern neighbor will probably be taken over by the same Islamist forces that took over the Gaza Strip four years ago. If there is a Palestinian State in the West Bank at that time, they will also fall under the sway of the Islamists.

Israel’s security is under attack from all sides, and the need to pray for her is great. Also pray for the Believers in Jordan. They are few, and few of them are brave enough to speak up for the Gospel or about God’s love for Israel and the Jewish people. But the Bible teaches us that God can move the world with only a few people. In fact, that’s the way He always moves the world.

There will be no peace in the Middle East, before the Prince of Peace returns. That return will come as a not expected surprise for the Jordanian kingdom.
