WIEN: The Austrian writer Gerd Honsik is sentenced to five years in prison for denying the Holocaust, and supporting the Nazi-Ideology.
A judge in the Austrian capital has found Gerd Honsik guilty of denying the Holocaust and supporting the ideology of the Nazi party. The Austrian News Agency (APA) reports that Honsik was accused of breaking the Austrian penal code on 12 occasion, and was found guilty on all accounts.
In 1992, Honsik was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment. Honsik fled to Spain. Finally he was caught by the Police, and brought back to Austria in 2007. During his 15 years in Spain, Honsik kept spreading the Nazi-ideology on the Internet. He was sentenced to jail in Austria in 1992 on the account of his book: «The acquittal of Hitler?».
Honsik has appealed the court verdict. Also the Authory General has appealed, giving a public statement that the sentence is to mild. The state of Austria asked the judge to send Honsik to 10 year behind bars.
