Dont blame it on Lieberman

MIDEAST ISRAEL POLITICS

«Occupation, settlements and settlers. Slogans like these, and others such as land for peace and two-state solution, is both overly simplistic and ignored the root causes of the ongoing conflict».

This is a statement of Avigdor Lieberman in todays Jerusalem Post.

There is a lot that can be said about Israels Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman. I was asked by a blogger this week, if I supported Lieberman? I replied that If I had the chance to vote during the last Israeli election, I would not have voted for his right wing party «Yisrael Beitenu». But the nation had to listen to the electorate. Lieberman and his party got 15 per cent of the votes. This verdict of the electorate should be read as an expression of a deep concern in the Israeli population for their safety and security.

Bibi had few options

I did not vote for Lieberman, neither did Bibi. But when Tzipi Livni and Kadima decided to stay on the sideline, Bibi did not have many options at hand. He had to give Lieberman a chance. And all of us might be surprised, that having been giving the post as Foreign Minister, Lieberman will learn how to become a team player. Let us all give him a chance.

Loosing faith in their own IDF

This week Israelis displayed a lack of confident in their own armed forces. 62 per cent of the citizens said they will approve of letting NATO enter Judea and Samaria, as long as it is a peace bringing mission. Can we blame Lieberman for the current lack of confidence? That the Jewish people are unsure of their own armed forces, the IDF`s` ability to protect them against their enemies?

In many evangelical Christians opinion, Israel is shaken by the huge increase in anti-Semitism around the World. Both the US, Russia, The European Union, Rome and Islam seems to be going against the Biblical interests of Israel at the same time.

Give Israel peace partners

When Lieberman says that the critics of Israel avoid debating the root causes of the ongoing conflict, he is right. Rhetoric words like «land for peace and two-state solution», can never bring peace to the Middle East. First the people of Israel have to be presented with genuine peace partners, that recognizes Israels right to exist. Only Egypt and Jordan have so fare been such peace partners. This troubled region got its first touch of peace, based on a genuine recognition of the State of Israel.

Unwise words.

Lieberman`s use of words might be harsh, and sometimes he uses words that he might have to regret. But such errors comes as a result of valid frustration. Lieberman is tired, listening to an International community that seems to be blindfolded walking together with Radical Islam against a free and democratic nation.

    1. Dear Johnny

Shalom, and welcome to this site.

      You wrote about Israel:

you will reap the whirlwind…..and deserve it

      My reply:

You should not write like this about the only free and democratic nation in the Middle East. Israel is not perfect, but is not a Middle Age style dictatorship like most of the nations controlled by a Muslim majority.

If you ever will get interested in reading the Bible, please keep in mind that all the blessings of Christians, have come from the Jewish people. The Messiah Jesus is also a Jew. So is the Bible, the law on which free and democratic nations base their system of justice.
