Bank account of Greek Orthodox Church of Jerusalem seized

The Israeli bank account of the Greek Orthodox Church of Jerusalem has been seized because of unpaid water bills, an Israeli newspaper has reported.

The priests who serve in this Catholic shrine in Jerusalem gives Jesus as bad mane in Israel.

Hagihon, an independent corporation established by the municipality of Jerusalem, imposed the seizure 10 days ago over a $2.5 million debt accumulated at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, which is under the church’s stewardship, according to Maariv’s report on the matter on Friday.

Theophilos III, the Greek church’s patriarch, is planning to write to U.S. President Barack Obama and other world leaders to protest the seizure, the report said.

The municipality of Jerusalem has traditionally waived payment on water by the church out of recognition of its immense significance to countless of Christians all over the world and the tourist traffic it brings, the report by investigative journalist Kalman Liebskind said.

The first demand for payment came in 2004 and was ignored by the church authorities. Negotiations reached a deadlock, and Hagihon filed for repossession of the church’s assets.

The Greek Orthodox Church of Jerusalem, which is headquartered at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, has been unable to pay salaries to its clergymen and utilities because of the freeze, the report said.

The Church of the Holy Sepulchre is said to contain the place where Jesus was buried.

My comment:

It must be said that the Church of the Holy Sepulchre is not a Christian Church, but a Catholic Shrine. It was established by the Pope when he occupied Jerusalem.

Among other disputes in regards to the historical claims of the papacy, many baptists and Pentecostal’s do claim that Jesus was buried in a tomb just outside the gates of the Old city of Jerusalem.

Who would believe that religious institutions would refuse to pay the municipality bills?

This is bad fruits, and such testimonies are unwanted.

 Matthew 7:18
A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.

False Christianity has always given Jesus the Messiah a bad name. This is yet another example.  That a religious community fails to pay the water bills since 2004 is shameful and improper behavior.

Ordinary people would have been evicted from their properties, if they fail to pay rent or taxes.

I pray that no Jew in Israel is being fooled into believing that anti-Christian Roman Catholic and Orthodox priests has anything to do with the true Messiah.

Two wronged by Turkey becomes good friends

Israel, Greece mark growing ties with joint air force drill.

Benjamin Netanyahu and George Papandreou does not have much in common. But both are in trouble with Turkey.

Israel’s Air Force on Monday concluded a two-week drill with the Hellenic Air Force.

This happend as the two nations cemented growing ties between their militaries, recently reflected in Greece’s recent move to halt a Gaza-bound flotilla set to depart from its shores.

The joint drill was held at Greece’s Larisa Air Base, and several elite Israeli squadrons, along with the IDF’s elite rescue unit 669 took part in the exercise along with the Greek military.

Over the past few days Greece has been working to stop the pro-Palestinian flotilla from departing to Gaza. On Sunday, the Greek government offered to transport the flotilla’s aid to Gaza as a compromise in order to end the affair.

A new beginning, or just an alliance in their deep need to counter Turkey?

According to the Greek initiative, the humanitarian aid aboard flotilla ships will be loaded onto watercraft.

The Greek government has offered to transfer the goods to Gaza via the organized channels.

This was requested by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon two weeks ago.

This means the aid would go through either the Ashdod port or Arish, and from there be taken to the Gaza Strip under the supervision of Greek and UN authorities.

My comment:

The relationship between Israel and Greek has never been easy. Growing antisemitism in the Greek Orthodox Church has made Israel embarrassed on several occasions.

But nowadays, geopolitics creates new alliances fast. While the influence of Turkey is growing, Greece is on the brink of bankruptcy.

Israel does not have many friends, and the growing threat from Turkey needed to be countered.

The old saying again becomes reality: “My enemy’s enemy is my best friend”.

Turkey has always been hostile to Greek national interest, and do occupy the Northern part of Cypress. Turkey also support Hamas, a major treat to the Jewish state.

 Proverbs 27:6
Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.

That Israel managed to stop the Gaza piracy flotilla at the harbor of Athene is a great diplomatic victory for Israel.

How much cash Israel had to put on the table, to sweeten the bid, we will only come to know in the future.

But what is wrong to offer some cash to a friend who is so short of cash, that he has to borrow money to buy a cup of tea?
