John 1:45

«Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph».

Some people say the «Jewish people» rejected Jesus as their Messiah. Thats is only partly correct. Philip is one of those Jews who understood from his studies of the Torah, that the Messiah had come. Philip had also read the prophecies in the Tanakh and come to the conclusion that Jesus was the Messiah.
