Oceans acidic shift fastest in 300 million years

The world’s oceans are turning acidic at what could be the fastest pace of any time in the past 300 million years.

Sinful man destroy God's creation at the fastest speed ever. Only Jesus can save us.

Even more rapidly than during a monster emission of planet-warming carbon 56 million years ago, scientists said on Thursday.

Quickly acidifying seawater eats away at coral reefs, which provide habitat for other animals and plants, and makes it harder for mussels and oysters to form protective shells. It can also interfere with small organisms that feed commercial fish like salmon.

The phenomenon has been a top concern of Jane Lubchenco, the head of the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, who has conducted demonstrations about acidification during hearings in the U.S. Congress.

Oceans get more acidic when more carbon gets into the atmosphere. In pre-industrial times, that occurred periodically in natural pulses of carbon that also pushed up global temperatures, the scientists wrote.

Human activities, including the burning of fossil fuels, have increased the level of atmospheric carbon to 392 parts per million from about 280 parts per million at the start of the industrial revolution. Carbon dioxide is one of several heat-trapping gases that contribute to global warming.

To figure out what ocean acidification might have done in the prehistoric past, 21 researchers from the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany and Spain reviewed studies of the geological record going back 300 million years, looking for signs of climate disruption.

Those indications of climate change included mass extinction events, where substantial percentages of living things on Earth died off, such as the giant asteroid strike thought to have killed the dinosaurs some 65 million years ago.

The events that seemed similar to what is happening now included mass extinctions about 252 million and 201 million years ago, as well as the warming period 56 million years in the past.

he researchers reckoned the 5,000-year hot spell 56 million years ago, likely due to factors like massive volcanism, was the closest parallel to current conditions at any time in the 300 million years.

My comment:

That the Worlds oceans are dying, is yet another sign of the end times on Planet Earth.

The Bible explains that the Great Tribulation will be worse than the “horror shows” people watch on TV.

So why not switch to the Bible, and use the Word of God as your guide to a correct understanding of our times?

Revelation 8:11
the name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter.

Revelation 8:9
a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.

Revelation 16:3
The second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it turned into blood like that of a dead person, and every living thing in the sea died.

All who are willing to read the Bible will see what  would take place just before His return. When you see these kind of events take place just in front of your eyes, rejoice.

The living God Jesus is fully in control. Those who submit to Him shall live forever. Amen.

Scientists: extreme weather will get worse, more frequent

Scientists predict extreme weather events will increase both in intensity and frequency as the planet warms.

The Human Race has not taken care of the Earth God created for us, so we shouldn't curse God for the results.

Raging floodwaters have swamped thousands of homes and businesses in Queensland, Australia, leaving at least 25 people dead and dozens more missing since late November. Rail lines and highways have been washed away in what is shaping up to become Australia’s costliest natural disaster.

The flooding follows a spate of severe natural disasters in the past year. While the most deadly was Haiti’s earthquake, extreme weather also killed thousands of people across the globe, including a scorching heat wave that choked Russia in the summer and devastating floods that engulfed more than 60,000 square miles (150,000 square kilometers) in Pakistan.

“The Earth is delivering a message to us. And the message is that more extreme weather is becoming the norm rather than the exception,” said John Magrath, a climate change researcher at British charity Oxfam.

He said there is a misconception that global warming only means higher temperatures. “It actually means more energy in the climatic system, which stimulates extremes and more chaotic behavior,” Magrath said.

Last year tied with 2005 as the warmest on record, with combined global land and ocean surface temperatures rising 1.12 degrees Fahrenheit (0.62 degrees Celsius) above normal, according to a report Wednesday by the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said Wednesday.

Reinsurer Munich Re counted nearly 1,000 natural disasters in 2010 — nine-tenths of them weather-related — the second highest number since 1980. The resulting economic losses totaled $130 billion

My comments;

In Genesis 3:17, God told Adam;

Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life.

The earth itself suffers under the curse of sin and a lack of repentance. The Bible tells us that as we get closer to the end of the age, wickedness, lawlessness and violence will increase, and so it is only natural that the curse the Earth is under will be manifested in more and more severe ways.

There are many people who don’t believe there is any such thing as “global warming” caused by human activity.  I find this extremely silly, since any sensible person shouldn’t need a scientist to tell them that extracting hydrocarbons from the Earth’s crust and burning them at a rate of billions of tons a day will be bad for the long term health of the planet’s physical environment.

Again in Genesis 2:15, it says;

And the LORD God took the man (Adam), and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

God created the Human Race and appointed us to be stewards and caretakers of the Earth.  When we don’t take care of it, that’s a sin unto itself, to say nothing of the disastrous consequences that naturally result from failing to do it properly.
