John 5:1

«Some time later, Jesus went up to Jerusalem for a feast of the Jews».

The Messiah was a Jew, who observed all the Jewish feasts. Like for all Jews, to travel up to Jerusalem, was a must also for the anointed One. In special during the festival season, and important holidays.

Matthew 26:45
Then he returned to the disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour is near, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

The students of Jesus was not even able to keep awake on the night the Messiah was going to be betrayed. The Son of God explained that He was going to be betrayed into the hand of sinners. Who crucified Jesus of Nazareth? It was my sins that crucified Him. I was the sinner that deserved to die in Jerusalem. But Jesus loved me, and came to the city of David and took my place.

The Old and the New Covenant

Isaiah 2:3
Many peoples will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.” The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

Luke 1:32-33

He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.

If Jesus is not the Messiah, than who can this man be? Who is this God who was suppose to come to the House of Jacob, and teach them to walk in the paths of the God of Jacob?  For the first 300 years after the death and resurrection of Jesus, the majority of His faithful followers were Jews. They gladly accepted the mission, to bring the good news out from Jerusalem to the whole World.  Today, there are people who believe that Jesus is the Messiah in every village, and every city on the face of the Earth.

John 2: 21-22

But the temple he had spoken of was his body. After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the Scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken.

The Messiah claimed his body was a Temple, to be rebuild in three days. This was the miracle He was ready to offer, and dod execute in Jerusalem. When jesus rose from the dead after three days, they realized that the Son of God had spoken the truth. He was mentioned in the scriptures, and they believed the scriptures, his explanations and teachings.
