Ecumenical march in Rio brands Christians as Fascists.

Catholics and Muslims march together in Rio in bid to curb the growth of Evangelical Christianity.

Ecumenical march in Brasil brand Evangelical Christians as Facsists.

Tens of thousands marched at the world famous Copacabana beach on Sunday in a protest against the persecution of Afro-Brazilian religious groups amid growing Christian evangelical influence.

Afro-Brazilian religious leaders were joined by Catholics, Muslims, Jews, Protestants, Buddhists and Baha’is, dressed in the traditional garb of their faiths, aiming to draw attention to intolerance.

“Our movement is not religious, it does not promote any faith, just the right to be respected. Religious intolerance is the open door to fascism,” said Ivan Dos Santos, an organizer of the march.

The drumbeat of Candomble — a religion introduced in Brazil in the 16th century by west African slaves — resounded on the beach not far from where Hare Krishna devotees danced in a circle.

A Candomble priest, or “babalawô,” Dos Santos said he wanted to gain the world’s attention.

“Religion is a cause of war in the world, but here we are bringing the religions together to dialogue because religious intolerance generates racism and threatens democracy,” he said.

Another aim of the march, which organisers said attracted 180,000 people, was to “isolate” Christian evangelical churches, while showing that Brazilians of all religions can live together, he said.

“For 25 years, they have hit us over the head with the Bible. In school, our children are treated like followers of the devil,” dos Santos told AFP.
Police did not confirm the estimated numbers of demonstrators.

Evangelical churches have flourished among the poor in this giant South American country, where more than 80 million people — 45 percent of the population — are black or of mixed race.

But Jose Flavio Pessoa de Barros, an anthropologist at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, charged that they “demonize cults of African origin to recruit followers.”

Followers of Candomble and Umbanda, another Afro-Brazilian religion, have held annual marches against religious intolerance since 2008, after several places of Afro-Brazilian worship were sacked and their leaders attacked.

Along the way other faiths have joined the marches.

More than 500 representatives of the Baha’i faith, which is persecuted in Iran, are taking part in this year’s march, said Roberto Iradj, a Baha’i representative in Brazil.

“Any type of discrimination that does not affect us today can affect us tomorrow. That’s why I am here,” said Paulo Maltz, a Jewish lawyer.
Organizers of the Copacabana march say that intolerance of African-based religions has increased as the evangelical churches have spread.

The main evangelical church, the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God, owns radio and television stations and has an influential political party.

“Our goal is to have 70 million followers by 2012,” pastor Washington de Souza, of the Unified Evangelical Center in Rio, told AFP recently.
Nevertheless, the most recent official census shows that the number of Evangelical Christians has stagnated, Catholics are declining in number and more people say they have no religion.

Sociologist Muniz Sodre says Brazilian society is multiracial, diverse and cannot be taken over by a single belief system.

“The evangelists deny a great section of Brazilian culture. Indeed, they are racist,” said Gisele Cossard, a French sociologist who has been based in Brazil for 40 years and is a Candomble priestess.

Religious syncretism is ever present in Brazil. After attending Christmas Mass, millions of Brazilians dress in white on December 31 to make offerings to Yemanja, the goddess of the sea in the Candomble religion. Many believe in spirits, reincarnation and various superstitions.

My comment:

The growth of Evangelical Christianity in Brazil is a treat of the religious movement. They loose power, and they lose members.

People who have persecuted Christians, have always believed they were doing something great for “god”.  Down the end of the road in Rio, comes the demand to arrest preachers of the Gospel. Some Christians might even be killed and martyred for their faith.

All of this will be Biblical. Jesus the Messiah did warn his flock in advance about what the children of the devil, would be permitted to do.

 Luke 21:15-19
For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict.  You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers and sisters, relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death.  Everyone will hate you because of me. But not a hair of your head will perish. Stand firm, and you will win life.

And when we are persecuted, we are suppose to rejoice. To feel blessed, and remain extremely glad. Not to take revenge.

Matthew 5:11-13

“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

My Comment:

Countries can continue to live in denial, but Jesus Christ gave us the signs to look to, before his coming.

By reading the Word of Christ that hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, earthquakes, and rainstorms are happening is not surprising. The article, my sister in Christ Sue wrote up (To read click here) regarding the death of birds are an end time bible sign. For the Word of Christ, said that this and much more will all occur, prior to his coming.

Luke 21 verse 25-26

“There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken.

But truthfully, to continue to live in denial by not accepting Jesus Christ means an eternity of gnashing of teeth is what awaits you.

Luke 13 verses 28 to 30:

“There will be weeping there, and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but you yourselves thrown out. People will come from east and west and north and south, and will take their places at the feast in the kingdom of God. Indeed there are those who are last who will be first, and first who will be last.”

You have nothing to lose, and gain a Glorious Gift by accepting Jesus Christ as Your Savior.

Romans 6: 23

For the wages of sin is DEATH; but the GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE  through Jesus Christ our Lord.

God Bless.

Latin America embracing ‘Palestine’

The Palestinian foreign ministry has announced that in the coming months, Chile and Paraguay will join the growing number of countries in Latin America recognizing a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders.

Latin America suddenly want to embrace the PA.

Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, Uruguay, Ecuador and Venezuela have all announced support for a Palestinian state in rapid succession in the last month.

The LA Times’ Daniel Hernandez writes: Chile is home to a significant population of about 350,000 mostly Christian Palestinians . The declarations have confounded Israel, as none of the South American countries have been directly involved in U.S.-led peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.

Uruguay was actually the first in the latest wave of Palestinian recognition, but the snowball really starting rolling after Brazil’s announcemnt on Dec. 3, one of former President Lula da Silva’s last acts in office. Under Lula, Brazil has become an increasingly important player in Mideast politics, often taking positions directly at odds with U.S. policy.

My comments;

Brazil is a rising economic and political power and it is looking for a way to make its mark on the world stage. Making a move against America’s closest ally in the Middle East is an easy way to do it. Many other Latin American countries have resented America’s heavy handed domination of their region for decades and are very happy to see one of their own challenging the US. This can explain why they are so eager to follow Brazil’s example.

Also, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps has invested great efforts in stirring up anti-American and anti-Israel feelings among Latin America’s large Palestinian and Lebanese expat communities, as well as with friendly Latin American governments.

God warns us that in the Latter Days all nations will come against Israel, and we can see that continuing to happen. But God is good and sovereign in every situation, and this is part of His Plan for the salvation and redemption of the whole world. So we must pray for our leaders to have wisdom, and if you want to show the people of Israel that you don’t agree with this decision, consider visiting Israel to show your solidarity.

Israel ‘saddened’ as Brazil recognizes Palestinian state

Israel on Saturday said it was disappointed by Brazil’s decision to recognize a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, saying it flew in the face of efforts to negotiate a peace deal.

The former Brazilian President would rather have Islam ruling in Jerusalem, than democracy and human rights.

The decision was announced by outgoing Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in a public letter addressed to Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas, which was made public by Brazil’s foreign ministry on Friday.

“The government of Israel expresses sadness and disappointment over the decision by the Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva a month before he steps down,” a statement from the Israeli foreign ministry said.

“Recognition of a Palestinian state is a breach of the interim agreement which was signed between Israel and the Palestinian Authority in 1995 which said that the issue of the status of the West Bank and Gaza Strip would be discussed and resolved through negotiations,” it said.

Such a move also contravened the 2003 Middle East road map for peace, which said a Palestinian state could only be established through negotiations and not through unilateral actions, the statement said, warning that unilateral steps would harm attempts to build trust.

“Every attempt to bypass this process and to decide in advance in a unilateral manner about important issues which are disputed, only harms trust between the sides, and hurts their commitment to the agreed framework of negotiating towards peace.”

Lula’s letter was sent in response to a personal request made by Abbas on November 24, the Brazilian document said.

The letter refers to the “legitimate aspiration of the Palestinian people for a secure, united, democratic and economically viable state coexisting peacefully with Israel.”

Although the international community backs Palestinian demands for a state on land seized by Israel in the 1967 Six Day War, most Western governments insist that the state should be established through a negotiated peace agreement with Israel.

Abbas visited Brazil in 2005 and 2009, and Lula made the first-ever trip by a Brazilian head of state to Israel and the Palestinian territories in March this year.

My comment:

That Roman Catholic Brazil is the first major Western state to recognize a “Palestinian” statehood, is a fresh example of the wickedness ruling this World.

Let me underline some points:

1. Brazil recognizes a statehood without borders.

2. The pre-1967 “borders” are not international acceptable borders, because they cut the city of Jerusalem into two pieces. Brazil accepts a new Berlin Wall.

3. The so-called Palestinian state, do have at least three masters. One is a highly corrupted al-Fatha controlled regime in Ramallah. The other is a Iranian controlled Hamas-regime in Gaza. The third is the Arab League. Non of them has recognized the state of Israel.

4. The new statehood that Brazil supports, will not become a democracy, nor a state that supports human rights. The new statehood will be run by Islamic sharia laws, and will be as free of Jews as Nazi-Germany was.

Shame on Brazil, a nation with leaders that bring curses up on its own citizens.
