Josef married an Egyptian. Moses took a Cushite as his wife. There seems to be no pure Jewish bloodline. Most of the followers of YA in ancient Persia and Israel seems to have been proselytes.
The land of Canaan was giftet to the 12 tribes of Israel, all sons of patriarch Jacob. But his sons started to fall in love with foreign women. By marrying outside of the tribes, already in ancient times there was no pure bloodline. Already in Egypt 1.800 B.C, Josef son of Jacob took an Egyptian as his wife. Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera, priest of On. The sons of Josef, Ephraim and Menasse were raised in Egypt by a daughter of the soil.
Moses came from the tribe of Levi, one of the 12 sons of Jacob. But the Hebrew leader during the Exodus married a woman from Cush. That is upper Egypt or Nubia. She was an African. Moses drew criticism from his siblings Aroon and Miriam because of his choice of life partner.
Numbers 12:1
Miriam and Aaron began to talk against Moses because of his Cushite wife, for he had married a Cushite.
It could be argued that Josef had been betrayed by his own Hebrew brothers. Being elevated to the highest political post in Egypt, it was but natural that he married an Egyptian woman. Moses had not yet received the Law (Torah) on Mt. Sinai, which can explain his marriage outside of Israeli tribal community. But also after the entry to the promised land, the sons of Israel continue to marry foreign women. Like Boaz wedding Ruth from Moab, to become the Great Grandmother of King David.
By and large, we have to conclude that the worship of the great I am (YA) was a regional affair. Not an internal family matter. There are multiple examples of massive revivals that included large groups of proselytes. Those, who like Ruth, accepted God of Israel as their God. Some of the greatest revivals took place in Persia around 500-400 B.C. In particular during the reign of Queen Esther in Susa. The victory of the young beauty Hadassah from the tribe of Benjamin moved the Persians. Keep in mind that the true and living God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The great Elohim. In Hebrew, plural for God.
Esther 8:17
In every province and in every city to which the edict of the king came, there was joy and gladness among the Jews, with feasting and celebrating. And many people of other nationalities became Jews because fear of the Jews had seized them.
Ezra 1:2
“This is what Cyrus king of Persia says: “‘The Lord, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth and he has appointed me to build a temple for him at Jerusalem in Judah.
What does this mean for todays Messianic movement?
John 4:22
You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews.
Not being able to identify a pure Jewish bloodline, we all are proselytes. We have accepted that salvations comes from the Jews, and that only the blood of the Messiah can save us. And His blood, the only remedy that can be used for the forgiveness of sins. His blood shed at Calvary Hill once and for all, 2.000 years ago. Any Messiah that do not recognises the enlarged commonwealth of Israel, is a copycat. A false Messiah.

Yes, Boaz married Ruth. Boaz’ father married Rahab (the one who protected the spies at Jericho)

Thanks for this comment. Rahab was a Cananite woman, and she was a prostitute. She is metioned as one of the ancient heros of the Bible. A hero who did not act as the moral majority. She lied to the soldiers coming to arrest the spies. Rahab is one of the best examples in the Bible, that we serve a merciful God. And that we shall not blindly obey Wordly authorities.
yes, I have known these for a long time, and your are correct, There are more.
Who were Bilhah and Zilpah? They were handmaids of Leah and Rachel. were they Hebrew?

You are touching one of my favorite topics. The relationship between Laban and Jacob. Laban represents the female line of the 12 tribes. Their importance, yet to be fullt recognized. This is a link to a FB-group who debate this topic related to a lost tribe in India. https://www.facebook.com/groups/397929214268026
Here are more thoughts: David had 24 sons from a few of his wives, but then after 30 sons, (daughters not mentioned) He had more wives and concubines. I would guess that not all were Hebrew. All his children, were not mentioned.
We know how many Solomon had. 300 wives and 700 concubines? What were the offspring of all those? We know he married a woman from Africa. ( Nubian?) it says that he made idols for the wives who worshipped them. They could not have been Hebrew as we know. So then……… only Y’shua and our Father YHWH knows the DNA of who was and who now is. He knew before we were born as it is written,
Thank you for all your posts!!
Shalom!
Hi Ivar,
I agree with your idea, in Yeshua we are all proselytes, the Israel of JHWH, Gal. 6:16 and because of that fact, we must accept the Tora like Yeshua did, and so did the whole community of Jews , who accepted Yeshua as the Mashiach, see Acts.
That’s why we celebrate Sabbath and all the moadim as Feasts of JHWH.
Shabbath shalom,

Thanks for your comment. It is strange that millions of Christians who claim to live under grace, do not recognize the Law. This leads to lawlessness in the name of the Messiah. The Messiah is the co-author of the Law. (Torah). Its like the trafic rules. The more you obey them, the safer your ride will be. But you will not enter the kingdom of Heaven, neither by obeying the Law nor all the trafic rules. You do not deserve to reach safely from A to Z. You need mercy and grace along the narrow path.
Absolutely, we will be saved by grace, by faith in Yeshua and to practice the Tora like Yeshua Will help us to show our love for JHWH /Yeshua
Joh. 14:21
