8th of May 2013: Prime Minister meets with Housing Minister, orders halt to new projects in Judea and Samaria.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has requested that the Housing Ministry freeze new construction projects in Judea and Samaria (Shomron), IDF Radio (Galei Tzahal) reports.
Netanyahu met with Housing Minister Uri Ariel and asked him to halt promotion of new projects in the region, including by no longer putting up for bids tenders on new projects.
Just days ago Ariel said that if the state budget did not include funding for promised construction in Judea and Samaria, such as the planned project in E1 in Maaleh Adumim, his party would not support the budget.
Neither Ariel’s office nor Netanyahu’s gave an official response to the IDF Radio report.
The reported freeze on new projects comes shortly after United States President Barack Obama’s visit to Israel and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry’s efforts to restart diplomatic talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.
Acting PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas has insisted that he will not negotiate with Netanyahu unless Israel freezes construction east of the 1949 armistice line. Abbas has made other demands as well, including the release of terrorists imprisoned in Israel.
Abbas’ term expired years ago, but he continues to act as PA Chairman as no new elections have been held.

My comment:
The final building squeeze in Judea and Samaria will not be announced officially. But it will be the de facto polity of the Government of Israel.
Billions of dollars of trade with the US, EU, Russia and China will be at stake for the capitalists inside Israel. It is better for some “religious” Jews to suffer, than for the whole nation to loose trading opportunity.
The secular majority of Israelis are as hedonistic and materialistic as their non-Jewish friends abroad. They feel the Bible is an interesting collection of stories, but not more than that. The truth about “God” can not be exclusively found, and even New Buddhism from Thailand and India, is more desirable than to believe in a Jew who died on a cross in Jerusalem.

When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near.
Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city get out, and let those in the country not enter the city.
For this is the time of punishment in fulfillment of all that has been written.
How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people.
Their rejection of the truth, will be their doom. Benjamin Netanyahu is under pressure. The Israeli nation have more faith in US dollars than in their God.

As a nation, Israel has always had its betrayers. When Judas betrayed the King of Israel, with a kiss, a a sign of endeared friendship, this set the rpecedent for all future betrayals.
When you live in a money dependent society, you will do what the money lenders say. When your friends give you expensive gifts freely and you do not take an unshakeable stand, the giver of those gifts will eventually have their way… if you keep receiving the gifts.
Abraham, the father of the Jewish (Hebrew) nation rescued his nephew Lot from an alliance of nations far more powerful and greater in numberr than he could muster. But God – the Possessor of Heaven and earth helped him. And all that was stolen was rescued.
The king of Sodom wanted the hostages Abraham brought back from the battle, adn would give all the material spoils of war to Abraham.
Abraham said to the king of Sodom, “I have lifted up my hand to Jehovah, the Most High God, the Possessor of Heaven and earth, that I will not ake from all that is yours, from a thread to a shoe latchet, and that you may not say – I have made Abraham rich. Nothing for me…” Genesis 14:22-24
It takes pure unshakeable faith in the LIving God for any leader of nation to speak like that to other world leaders who want to be generous for a price.
It is tough for Benjamin Netanyahu at the moment. I don’t envy his position.
Do not put your trust in princes…. or in the arm of flesh… put your trust in the Lord who made heaven and earth and everything in them. Those who trust in the Lord will not be put to shame.
