Fifty per cent of US Catholics believe the bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Christ. The other half think it is symbolic.

The Roman Catholics ask: How could this happen?
Source: The Catholic Herald, UK.
My comment:
The Roman Catholic Church stand and falls on its two core doctrines.
1. The Petrine theology of the pope being the successor of St. Peter, and the Vicarius Christi. (Vicar of Christ)
2. The doctrine of transubstantiation, the idea that God (the Messiah) becomes physically available in the Communion bread in the alter.
I understand that the RCC are surprised that half of the American Catholics take the protestant view on doctrine number 2.
The reason is World Media Mission, and the global reach out to Catholics with the true Gospel. I rejoice with the 50 per cent that now knows the truth. And because, when doctrine 2 fall apart, doctrine 1 also falls. The Pope is not the representative of God of the Bible, but rather a deceiver of the flock. Just as Martin Luther and the other church reformers claimed.
I thank Jesus the Messiah for revealing truth to all these Americans. May He continue to protect them from all kinds of deceptions, take them out of the religious strongholds of the Vatican, and save them, Amen.

Praise God that the “wool” veil is being taken off the eyes of the sheep.
Praise God that vatican head is being rattled.
Praise God that His eternal kingdom of righteousness, real righteousness, real peace and real joy in and of the Holy Ghost – who is the Spirit of grace and the Spirit of truth, and which will manifest in the holy power and demonstration of the Holy Ghost for the glory of God ALONE, WILL FILL all the earth.
Come out of her, says the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people.
Dear Icmcd.
Shalom and praise Jesus. Thanks for this comment. May Jesus of the bible bless you.
Jesus once said, “Unless you eat my body and drink my blood, there is no life in you” John, 6:53
Is it a sin to take the above verse literally as a child? Then what matters?
Dear Oldman.
Shalom and love in Jesus.
Welome back. To eat Jesus will be an act of canabalism. If true, the apostles should have found an axe and cut the mody of the Messiah into eatable pieces. To eat his flesh (body) is to participate in his life and Words. To do His will.
The Eucharist is the New Passover. Just as the Jews eat the flesh of the lamb, Catholics eat the flesh & blood of the Lamb of God.
Christ said it Himself in Jn 6:
53Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. 55For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them.
57Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me.
58This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.”
The Greek verb used in v58 is trogo:
5176. trógó
trógó: to gnaw, munch, crunch
Original Word: τρώγω
Part of Speech: Verb
Transliteration: trógó
Phonetic Spelling: (tro’-go)
Definition: to gnaw, munch, crunch
Usage: I eat, partake of a meal.
He never said it was only a symbol. Had the ancient Israelites only had a symbol for a lamb & not the real thing, they’d be as dead as the Egyptians who’d died. In fact He never said to those disciples who’d stopped following Him because of His teaching to consume Him: “Hey! Come back! I was only kidding! It’s just a symbol!” He let them go. They didn’t believe Him. They found His words offensive, & He let them go.
If you accuse of cannibalism, you do the very same thing that the ancient Romans did to the Early Christians because they did believe in the Real Presence.
Also, 1 Cor 11 informs on the following:
27So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. 28Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup.
29For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves. 30That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep.
31But if we were more discerning with regard to ourselves, we would not come under such judgment. 32Nevertheless, when we are judged in this way by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be finally condemned with the world.
So people who eat the Body & Blood of Our Lord unwortily – without a proper examination of conscience & without discerning His Body & Blood are guilty of sin so that they come under God’s judgment for that sin, & some have even died because of it. Does that sound like mere symbol to you?
