TV report says US defense secretary was set to hold talks with in Israel next week on Iran and Syria; senior Israeli officials said to harshly criticize Syria pullout decision.
US Defense Secretary James Mattis has cancelled a trip to Israel planned for next week after submitting his resignation in the wake of President Donald Trump’s decision to pull US forces out of Syria, Israeli television reported Friday.
Mattis’s talks in Israel had been set to focus on Iran and Syria, according to Channel 10 news.
The former marine general’s decision to resign came after Trump’s sudden announcement Wednesday that he would withdraw all American troops from Syria, saying they had completed their task of defeating the Islamic State jihadist group. That claim has been largely rejected by defense analysts and officials from around the world.
Channel 10 news reported Wednesday that Netanyahu tried in vain to persuade Trump to change his mind, and that there was tremendous “disappointment” in Jerusalem over the pullout, which is regarded as a victory for Russia, Iran and Hezbollah.
“Trump threw us under the wheels of the semi-truck of the Russian army, the one that transfers weapons to Syria and Hezbollah,” the unnamed official said.
The New York Times said Israeli intelligence officials “felt betrayed by the United States withdrawal.”.

For all who await the return of the Messiah, this is a significant move.
You can not be betrayed by an enemy. If you ever trusted him, you will have to pay for your foolishness.
You can only be betrayed by a friend.
The USA is one of the very last friends Israel have to rely on. Sad as it is. Having to trust to much on Washington, has left Israel looking like a kind of Banana republic.
I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will put them on trial for what they did to my inheritance, my people Israel, because they scattered my people among the nations and divided up my land.
The bible says that Israel will be betrayed by all nations. It is an utter tragedy for all the nations, because they will all face stern judgement for this when the Messiah returns. So say the Prophetic word. For all Jews, there will be a great tribulation just before the Redeemer comes. For those who live among the Gentiles, and are lover of the World, you might not get what I am saying. You might not understand a thing, the day the Messiah tell you to depart from Him, in the same line as the devil and all the angles who served him. May be you will get a clue if I tell you that there are now more than 50.000 missiles pointing towards Israel from the Islamic World. And the numbers are raising as we speak.

I listen to preachers. One said, look at the border of Israel with it’s enemies ready to destroy her, and it’s no coincidence that the border of America has enemies ready to destroy her too. This could be Ezekiel 38 & 39 in which the ones sitting on the side lines (who know better and it doesn’t like like they are doing anything about it) are saying, “Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?” Ez. 38:13, and God says, “And it shall come to pass at the same time when God shall come against the land of Israel, said the Lord GOD, that my fury shall come up in my face. For in my jealousy and in fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel,..skipping down, And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains, saith the Lord GOD: every man’s sword shall be against his brother.” Ez. 38:18,21. God’s going to take care of it! Seek the Lord people! Ask Jesus to save you. I will say that Ezekiel 38-39 is one of the most challanging prophetic books to understand. Because the names of places Ezekiel use can not be found today. And bible scholars deeply disagree. Israel has surely forgotten how it was to live safe in the promised land, before their global exile took place. It lasted for almost 2000 years. But what I understand, is that these words given to Ezekiel surely cover the history of the Jewish people from 1880 A.D to 2018. Their tribulations, the rise of Zionism, their return to Jerusalem and their wars for suvival. Facing extintion in the atomic age, that started just after the Holocaust was over, etc. Ezekiel 39:25 to 29 is a good sumary.
25 ‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will now restore the fortunes of Jacob[d] and will have compassion on all the people of Israel, and I will be zealous for my holy name. 26 They will forget their shame and all the unfaithfulness they showed towards me when they lived in safety in their land with no one to make them afraid. 27 When I have brought them back from the nations and have gathered them from the countries of their enemies, I will be proved holy through them in the sight of many nations. 28 Then they will know that I am the Lord their God, for though I sent them into exile among the nations, I will gather them to their own land, not leaving any behind. 29 I will no longer hide my face from them, for I will pour out my Spirit on the people of Israel, declares the Sovereign Lord.’
Hi Ivar, I wonder what your thought are on Israel’s destruction of the Palestinian people, it’s military actions against its neighbours, its treatment of Jewish and non-Jewish Israelis who criticise its actions? Or Israel’s documented history of State-sponsored terrorism, like the bombing of the King David hotel? I’m trying hard to understand how these actions have anything to do with God or Christ or goodness by any definition as they all go against the teachings of Christ. The suffering Israel has caused to human lives is incalculable if you look deep into what it does around the world to its critics and allies alike and can in no way be considered to be in alignment with God.

If you feel that the bombing of King David hotel was an act of terrorism, you look at the World with an Victorian, British imperial eye and defend this Victorian viewpoint. Are you suggesting that God wants the Israelis to kill as many people in cold blood as it takes until they have everything they want? Can you explain why Israel and supporters of Israel often seem to undertake ad hominem attacks and smear campaigns on anyone who questions or criticises Israel’s actions? The internet is full of thousands of pieces of evidence of Israel’s brutality against innocent men, women and children, including Jews and non-Jews. This evidence and the evidence in the speeches of Israeli leaders are in contradiction to the teachings of Jesus Christ and of God. Thousands of Jewish people around the world, including Rabbis and scholars, continue to vehemently protest against Israeli brutality, even Israel’s existence. Are they all Victorian in their views? Are they all wrong and you right?
Stephen I want to set things straight. Israel is surrounded by enemies. Look at a map and see it. Israel is trying to protect herself. The news is out there daily how the Jews killed this person or that, but they don’t say that they were stabbed by Palestinian first, or that bombs were flying through their neighborhoods, or kites on fire were thrown over the border setting fires and terrorist tunnels. We are talking about self defence! The nations surrounding Israel want to drive her into the sea, but they are God’s chosen people like it or not. The Palestinians are Arabs abandoned by their own people and left there as pawns. Israel (Jacob) belongs to God, He gave it to the Jews. Satan and his angels are trying to destroy them before Jesus can come back, because Satan known he will be put in the lake of fire. We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12 And God said unto him, thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob but Israel shall be they name: and he called His name Israel, And the land which I gave Abraham and Isaac, t thee I will give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land. Genesis 3:10,12 God says, “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for ALL people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it. Hi Nannette. I find it difficult, if not impossible, to reconcile the greater teachings of Christ regarding love, forgiveness, loving one’s enemy, and giving up material wealth, with the huge amount of evidence of Israel’s direct contradiction of these teachings. We need only look at this evidence in the thousands of videos on youtube (2 of which Ivar deleted from my reply), the work of Ilan Pappe, Norman Finklelstein, Miko Peled, Christopher Bollyn and many others who provide evidence of Israel’s acts of State-sponsored terrorism, assassinations, torture of men, women and children, illegal detentions without charge, breaches of international law, the deliberate ruining of people’s reputations and careers, and the brutality inflicted upon innocent people every single day. These are not acts of good or holy people, but of wickedness. This is not a matter of opinion or Biblical document, it’s a matter of fact. These facts directly violate Christ’s teachings and the Commandments.
There is a temptation to be led into a narcissistic perspective with regard to considering Israelis as superior to other human beings. Christ did not teach this. But you will, if you have the eyes to see, recognise narcissism in much of what Israel and its supporters say and do.
Whilst I find the views here fundamentally flawed for these reasons, I’m grateful to you for taking the time to share your point of view and interpretation of parts of the Bible. It gives me a better understanding of some of what might be behind the suffering in the Middle East.

Stephen, I never said that Israel was perfect nor is the United States perfect, or any other county. WE ARE ALL SINNERS! But I tell you this. God hates anti-Semitism. And that is what you are. We are in the age of ‘Grace’ in which God is calling on ALL people to accept His Son Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. God does not lie, it does not matter what you feel or think, your human wisdom is lacking sir. God has a plan and it is in His Word, He has not hidden anything from us. The battle is for souls. You either follow Satan and spend eternity in hell or you follow Jesus Christ and have eternal life with Him in heaven. “For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits: that blindness in part is happened to Israel, unto the fullness of the Gentiles be come in. And so all Israel shall be saved. as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: For this is My covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins. As concerning the gospel they are enemies for your sakes but as touching the election thy are beloved for the fathers sakes.” Romans 11:25-28, “Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. Thou wilt say then The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in. Well: because of UNBELIEF they were broken off, and thou standest by FAITH. Be not high minded, but fear: For if God spared not the natural branches take heed lest he also spare not thee.” Romans 18-21 When a Jewish man or women becomes a born again believer we should jump for joy just as we would a muslim or any other person. God is calling out people for Him self.
