US Official tells Reuters conclusion is based on “heat signature of jet.”
The United States believes that the Russian jet shot down by Turkey on Tuesday was hit inside Syrian airspace after a brief incursion into Turkish airspace, a US official told Reuters, speaking on condition of anonymity.
The official said that assessment was based on detection of the heat signature of the jet.
President Barack Obama and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan spoke by phone on Tuesday about the need to de-escalate tensions with Russia after Turkey shot down the Russian warplane near the Turkish-Syrian border, the White House said.

It is tragic that US official’s can not speak openly. It display what kind of President the Americans have trusted as their commander in chief.
It is pure common sense that the Russian Jet, imposed no threat to the republic of Turkey. There was no dog fight in the air. The Russian pilot was a victim of Putin’ s pilot trusting a done deal with NATO and Obama, not to engage each others fighter jets over Syria.
Turkey did obviously not agree. The problem Ankara faced, was that the Russian jet flew along the border and bombed Islamic terrorists supported by Erdogan. Than the new Ottoman Sultan pulled the trigger.
Russia had also just given a mortal blow to the Turkish finances of ISIL, by bombing several caravans of oil trucks on their way into NATO-area. Oil in exchange for weapons, Toyota pick-ups and cash. The success of the Russian forces simply added to the radicalization of the Turkish government.
This double faced Ankara government is able to bring the whole NATO-alliance down on its knees. A deep rift is on its way. Unfortunately, it is not possible to suspend the Turkish membership. Than the US looses control of dozens of nuclear missiles, and airbases who is supposed to keep a watch on Russian military activity in Western and central Asia.
There is only one solution to this problem. And that is the return of the true peacemaker, Jesus the Messiah. Amen.
Try Him. You will not regret.
