Leader in the Lausanne Movement compare Christian Zionism to the Spanish Inquisition, the Crusades, Apartheid South Africa.
The Lausanne Movement, the world’s leading Christian evangelism movement, has once again taken aim at what it believes to be the sinful practice of Christian support for the State of Israel, or Christian Zionism.
“For over 60 years, many evangelicals have clung to a very narrow theological narrative that weds Christian theology with a political ideology known as Zionism,” writes Steve Haas, vice president of World Vision US, in the latest issue of Lausanne Global Analysis.
He went on to compare Christian Zionism to the Spanish Inquisition, the Crusades, Apartheid South Africa and other large-scale atrocities to which Christians were party.
Lausanne as a movement has what some would describe as an unhealthy negative obsession with Israel in recent years, having apparently fully swallowed the allegations that the Jewish state is the chief oppressor of Christians and other people in the Middle East.
At its gathering in Cape Town, South Africa in 2010, Lausanne produced what came to be known as the Cape Town Commitment, which, among other things, urged Christians to repent for their role in “Palestinian suffering” as a byproduct of support for Israel.

It is important to know what kind of idols that are behind the formation of the Lausanne Movement, and what kind of “Christ” its leadership believe in.
Billy Graham believed in a “Christ” who called him to build bridges across the Reformation, and unite Protestant and Catholics. A “Christ” who wants all to accpet the papacy.
This “Christ” are not in covenant with the Jewish people. The formation of the state of Israel in 1948 is an intereting coincidence, but not relevant to the Church.
Graham did convince several US Presidents that it would be wise of America to support Israel. But only for tactical and political reasons. Uncle Sam needed a loyal friend in the Middle East, to balance the powers of the oil rich Gulf Kingdoms.
The replacement theology taught in this movement, has made it bind to spiritual realties. God of the Hebrew are not honored in the Churches, who are a part of this movement. The Lausanne movement believe in a Post-Jewish Messiah.
This is not the same God who re-birthed Israel.
Billy Graham’s error is that he found it more important to honor both Richard Nixon and the Pope, than to acknowledge that the King of the Jews is the eternal God almighty. Billy Graham wanted to be loved by World leaders and the TV-multitudes.
For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ.
The state of Israel is fare from perfect, and the large majority of Christian Zionists do not agree to all Israel is doing. But Billy Graham and his supporters should take notice that the Messiah will reign over the House of Jacob forever. That the gentiles are saved by grace, and have been grafted into the Jewish faith. That the true believers in the Messiah are awaiting the return of the Lion of Judah. Who is supposed to be their King, and the King of the Jews.
May Jesus the Messiah have mercy on all who defame Christian Zionists and the state of Israel. Amen.
