Prime Minister Mehdi Jomaa announced Wednesday that the security authorities in his country have approved the entry of Israeli tourists to Tunisia.

“There is a decision to allow Israeli tourists into Tunisia,” Jomaa said at an economic conference in Tunis. The aim is that the tourist season be a success,” he said. The decision caused a backlash from the Tunisian opposition, who were quick to accuse the government of being lenient and “normalizing relations with Israel.”

Eighty members of the Tunisian parliament demanded that the Tunisian Minister of Tourism Amal Kirbul and the Interior Minister Rida Separ, be brought for a hearing on the issue.

The Tunisian prime minister welcomed the hearing on the condition that it be conducted in an “objective and transparent manner, absent any political interests.”

A Tunisian media report recently featured the visit of 61 Israelis, who entered the country on Israeli passports, a precedent-setting event in a country that has no relations with Israel.

My comment:

We have to rejoice, that the Tunisian PM desire that his country should start to bless Israel. Rather than cursing the Jewish people.  This is a move, that might lead to blessings from Heaven.

 Genesis 12:1-3
The Lord had said to Abram, ‘Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.
 ‘I will make you into a great nation,
 and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
 and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you,
 and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
 will be blessed through you.’

There are some Muslim nations who have opened the door for Jews. By this move they have accepted that the Jewish state can not be removed by force.  Egypt gave its first visas to Israelis after the 1979 peace accord. Jordan followed suit in 1994.

Turkey was a secular republic during the formation of Israel in 1948. The former Ottoman Empire has been a desired holiday destination for Israelis up to this decade.  The present regime of Islamists in Ankara, might bring the tourism from Israel to an end.

Let us rejoice with Tunis. Let us also hope that this new positive visa-regime will last. May Jesus the Messiah bless all who bless Israel. Amen.
