Jesus said, “You believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You shall see greater things than that.” He then added, “I tell you the truth, you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”
Nathanael must have been amazed by the words of the Messiah. For a mortal man to see Heaven opens, and angels ascending and descending on Jesus, must have sounded like science fiction of this time. But Jesus was prophesying. Nathanael was most likely present at the River Jordan to repent, and be baptized. There people saw Heaven open, and Father God spoke to them about His anointed Son.
Daily bread from the life of Y´shua

Anointed with what?
With the Holy Ghost, that’s why we read in Luke…
16 So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.
17 And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:
18 “ The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me,
Because the LORD has anointed Me
To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.”
20 Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him.
21 And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”
And also in Isaiah 42,
1 “Behold! My Servant whom I uphold,
My Elect One in whom My soul delights!
I have put My Spirit upon Him;
He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles.
And in Isaiah 11,
1 There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse,
And a Branch shall grow out of his roots.
2 The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him,
The Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
The Spirit of counsel and might,
The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.
3 His delight is in the fear of the LORD,
Jesus was the Messiah so the profecies talked about a Spirit of God’s anointed Mesiah.
God bless you brother, I apologize for my English, I’m writing you from Barcelona, Catalonia, Europe.

John 1 verse 48
48 Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.
Nathaneal asked the Lord Jesus ‘at what point did you know me?’ is how I would put this in modern English.
Jesus tells him ‘I knew you before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, that’s when I noticed you’.
What did Jesus notice?
John 1 verse 47
47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!
Note ‘Jesus said of him’ Jesus didn’t say it ‘to’ him, he was talking about him to those in His company before Nathaneal was within earshot!
How did Jesus know this about Nathaneal?
The Spirit of His Father, Almighty God within Him.
Proverbs 20 verse 5
5 Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.
Our Lord Jesus the Original Man of Understanding who by His Spirit teaches us today had the God given ability to see right into Nathaneal and ‘know him’.
Awesome.
