The FBI can secretly activate a computer’s webcam to spy on an individual without turning on the indicator light.
This was confirmed by a former FBI-official in an article in Washington Post on Friday.
According to the Washington Post’s account of what Marcus Thomas — former assistant director of the FBI’s Operational Technology Division in Quantico — said, “The FBI has been able to covertly activate a computer’s camera — without triggering the light that lets users know it is recording — for several years, and has used that technique mainly in terrorism cases or the most serious criminal investigations.”

It is great to have an FBI source confirming what some of us have claimed for many years. The guys who have made your lap-top and smartphone, can turn the divice on. Without you even knowing that it has been done.
A web-camera is the perfect spyware. The inventor of this technology have made you place it facing your own head. Whoever enter your room can be monitored.
When we are aware of this, we need to restrict online communication. The best way of sharing information is the good old analog way. By simply taking the battery out of our mobile phone, and have a cup of tea with a friend outside of office.
What is the purpose of the governmental sponsored cyber space spy programs?
