From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
The Law of Moses was not the fulness of grace. The fullness of grace came with the Messiah. There are many interpretations of the word grace. I guess «undeserved kindness» is one of the best. The Law explains to us what God considers to be sin, and the punishment we deserve. Grace takes away the punishment, pays for our transgressions and set us free. The full truth of the Law became known to men, when it was explained by Jesus the Son of man.
The text says that there is a grace only through the person of Jeus Christ. Grace is defined and personified in Messiah. That became a reality when God became man and gave His life for all mankind, so that we could come to the throne of grace – each and every human being. Direct access for all individuals. Not so under the law. There is no measure of grace in the law. None whatsoever.
The Law was given to expose our sinfulness and our need for a Savior. Without the Law there is no condemnation for sin. You can’t be convicted of ‘sin’ if there was no law against it. And so it is by Faith and the Grace of God, through the shed blood of Christ on the Cross we are saved. He is the only One who is able to save.
He said: ‘I am the way, the truth, and life, and no one comes to the Father but by Me.’ Amen to that.
Judgement = is getting what we deserve
Mercy = is getting what we don’t deserve
Grace = is not getting what we deserve.
God bless you all.
