Francis, while you are entitled to your personal opinions, I would take exception to your opinions being presented here as “facts”.
One question, if all “group religion” is pagan then how can you not say that the faith of the Jewish people is not pagan? Why did God command King Solomon to build him a Holy Temple so that the people could come and worship him in their midst? Why would God raise up the Jewish people to be His own instead of only raising up certain individuals?
Please, don’t just rant your opinions without even thinking your positions through.
Secondly, the original write of the passage quotes the book of John, then interprets it on his own to say Jesus did not form “churches”. This is a complete error – the first Church was instituted by Christ himself the first time he accepted disciples and preached the Gospel to them. He further did not just preach to them as their Pastor, he showed them how to live as his followers and instructed them to “do as I do”. If this isn’t a Church then I don’t know what a Church is and I need to be enlightened. The history of the first Church instituted by Jesus is described in full in the Book of Acts. Jesus instituted it on the leadership of Peter, the Rock. (Matthew 16:18-19)
If you deny this, you deny the truth of the Bible.

I will admit I may have been a bit harsh in my words to francis, but notwithstanding any actual factual criticism, the language he is using in his posts appears to be nothing more then rambling and ranting. This may just be his grasp of the English language and if so, then I am sorry for offending him and you.
Feel free to call my opinions “rantings” if you want to, however, I stand by any facts I present. We can quote Bible verses back and forth all day long in attempts to prove our points, but there must be a point to the discussion.
I have laid out my points I think pretty clearly here so far. I think that my refutation of the original authors “church” interpretation was “to the point”. It is clear from the Biblical text that Jesus established His Church on the rock of His disciple, Peter. Is Matthew 16:18-19 in error or ambiguous in anyway?
Your quotes from Ephesians seem to concur with my assessment as well as in those quotations Jesus is shown as the leader and head of His Church – the Church “built on the foundation of the Apostles and prophets”.

I just wanted to point out, and I am sure you agree that we should treat each other respect with here. Also about quoting biblical verses, in any of my responses to questions, or just maybe even comments, I try to always use the Word of Christ. As a believer in Jesus, I truly believe that everything he needs for us to know is in his Word. Yes, there are things that we do not know now, but will be revealed to us in heaven, when our Savior comes.

Agreed. I am merely pointing out that the writer is factually incorrect. Again, if you believe the Bible is divinely inspired and contains divine revelation from God himself and contains no errors, then you can’t get a much clearer statement about whether Jesus intended to form a Church and who he picked to lead it on earth.
This type of “personal interpretation” is what all of the Church fathers railed against during their time and why they codified the books of the Bible for everyone.
Think of it this way, instead of just reading the scriptures “from afar”, imagine you are standing next to St. Paul as he is talking with His disciples and he tells you that Jesus chose your mutual friend Peter to be foundation of His new Church of which all His disciples including himself will be a part of… How would you react? What would you tell St. Paul in reply or what would you ask him about what he said.
Do you think each person there with you would hear something different? Do you think everyone would talk amongst themselves saying, “Did Paul just say that Jesus wanted to start a new church and he wants our friend Peter to be its foundation?”
Who would you trust to tell you exactly what Jesus did and did not say? Would you trust someone in the crowd, or would you trust St. Paul?
That is how Catholics view what we call the “Living Tradition of the Church.” We believe that there is a direct line of oral and written Tradition (with a capital T) that extends down through time from the first 12 Apostles of Jesus, and St. Paul (the 13th Apostle to the Gentiles) down to our current Church leadership. We believe that the original intent of the scriptures can only be explained as closely as possible to the original intention of the writers through the senses of this Church Tradition.
Can anyone pick up a Bible and read it for themselves and gain wisdom and insight in to who Christ is and was, yes. But when it comes to the particulars of how to correctly interpret and apply the language, we look to the successors of the Apostles.
Again I ask, is Matthew 16:18-19 an error or unclear in any way?

Jesus is the Rock! What Jesus was emphasizing is based on what Peter had declare by revelation of the Father, when he said: “Thou are the Christ, the son of the Living God.” Notice what Jesus said to Peter, “…and on this rock I will build my church.” He didn’t say, “and upon you Peter” but on what Peter had declared. The emphasis as to when Jesus said, “and I tell you that you are Peter”, Peter means, little rock, not “the rock”. Another words, Peter and also the rest of the apostles were the “pillars” of the foundation, which is Jesus, where upon the church will be built. Peter receives the message as a leader among the disciples, but definately, and with so many scriptures that affirm it, Jesus is the “Rock” the foundation of the church.

This is simply not the truth. Most of the Bible translations are 97-98 per cent accurate, and give us the same message as the original Hebrew Bible. Lately, some of the modern Bible translations have been corrupted by corrupt “Christians”.
People who are interested in the Word of God, should always keep the Amplified Bible for a cross check.
The Spirit of God, is not disconnected from the Word of God. The Messiah is not the spirit of God that came in flesh, but the Word of God that came in flesh. The Word of God has been known to man in written form for 3.000 years.
Deceptive spirits can easily take you for a ride, if you reject the Word of God.
How can you, one who has not received “the love of The Truth”, testify “this is simply the truth”? Unless of course you are referring to your own comments.
