Mark Driscoll: “The Church Is dying”

Only around 7 to 8 per cent of Evangelicals are actually practicing their faith.

Pastor Mark Driscoll warns about Christians turning lukewarm.
Pastor Mark Driscoll feels the need to shake and wake up many Christians.

Outspoken pastor Mark Driscoll says Christians need to be of stronger resolve because of “darker” days, and argues that “the church is dying,” in a promotional letter for an upcoming leadership conference in Seattle.

He explains, “Some will tell you that between 40% and 70% of Americans are believers. The latest statistics reveal that those actually practicing evangelical Christian faith is only around 7 to 8 per cent. The need for young Bible-believing, Jesus-following leaders is desperate and dire. My desire for the Resurgence Conference is to bring together some of the best teachers I know. Men with a lifetime of lessons to share. Men who are leading the resurgence.”

Christians are being ostracized, gay marriage is being legalized, the bandwagon has stopped carrying us and has started running over us,” he continues in the letter. “The church is dying and no one is noticing because we’re wasting time criticizing rather than evangelizing.

“The days are darker, which means our resolve must be stronger and our convictions clearer. This is not the hour to trade in work boots for flip-flops,” Driscoll adds. “You didn’t think you were here to kill time listening to Christian music until Jesus returned, did you?”

My comment:

That the Church is dying, should not come as a surprise to people who read and obey the Bible.  People who do not practice their faith, needs to open their Bible and read about the hypocrites.

Jesus the Messiah warned us about the end of the age.  A watered downed candy coated “gospel” will be preached. Many Christians will freely walk into deception, or turn lukewarm. Many spirit filled followers of Jesus will face betrayal by their own family member. The last days will be a season of deception, bloodshed and martyrdom.

The Messiah said bluntly that all who run the race to the end, will be saved. If you surrender to a compromising spirit, and turn a friend of the World, you will not make it to the Kingdom of Heaven.

Be wise. Do not surrender. Keep up the good fight.

Rather be hated by the whole World, than to take pleasure in sin, and regret for eternity in Hell. Let all men be liars, but God the truth.

  1. I love your comments on the article they are very true. However, Driscoll is not the right guy to quote on this. He has been a major cause of the apostasy in the last days. His reformed theology, his denial of prophesy, reducing believers that believe in prophesy to conspiracy theorist, openly mocking Christians who excercise discernment and believe we are in the last days. His rated “R” messages and open vulgarity from the pulpit that gave him the nickname the cussing pastor, contemplative prayer. I can go on for a while but his resurgeance conference invites many apostates including this year purpose driven pastor Rick Warren. Driscoll’s Acts29 leadership and church planting network has caused major damage to the body of Christ. I personally helped a church that was nearly destroyed by his network. Although I agree that the church is dying, it is dying because we lack the Word, repentance and as Jesus told the church of Thyatara, “you allow the woman Jezebel who claims to be a prophet to seduce my servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrifice to idols” we tolerate false teachers that mislead the flock.
Lets keep praying, sharing Christ, and discipling believers.
In the name of the Messiah Jesus

  2. “And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off ? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” Luke 18:7-8.
“The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.” Timothy 4:1.

  3. Many think as long as they are not participating in ‘sin’ but a little gossiping of others and making sure they keep their appointments to keep their toes, hair, and fingernails and spa treatments done weekly or monthly done, they are good Christians. just some times they are just too tired to go to every meeting the church has even though the church has cut back on the Sunday night and Wednesday nite services they do have a Thursday nite now since so many men wanted it changed to Thursday. As for tithing we give our 10 % but we will not give no more than 10 % to the waitress who wait on our groups after all they do get an hourly pay of 2.13 and each table pays them a tip too. so if we give them 10 % of our bill they would be getting a lot more than they deserve. A whole table bill of 20.00 they get 2.00 that’s enough they don’t need to get any more than that. it’s their job to wait on us.! We leave them tracts also! (God help the ones who actually do this and there are many who do!)

This is an “Example of Christianity at it’s brightest on Sunday after Church”..!! and the World is watching is the devils….so is God

  4. “Pastor Mark Driscoll, founder of Mars Hill Church, Seattle, is one of the biggest names among evangelical Christians in the USA. This website is the result of our examination of Pastor Mark Driscoll’s ministry. Our aim is to warn believers in the UK, and the USA, and elsewhere, of the false nature of Driscoll’s ministry. We highlight areas of Driscoll’s ministry which should cause grave concern to true, discerning Christian believers. We believe that Driscoll’s approach to a variety of issues, discussed on this website, is unacceptable and ultimately makes a mockery of the Christian faith.”

  5. Amen Marco! Born again believer’s who are not under deception and read their Bibles are not going to Mark driscoll’s church! What a hypocrite! What church is he talking about? The one’s who heard his own deception or believer’s who stay away??? Problem is the cancer has spread to most churches! Having a hard time find true teaching? Start your own house church with believer’s who love Jesus! In Jesus words:Matthew 18:20- For where two or three are gathered together in My name I Am there in the midst of them. Luke’s account in the book of Acts 17:11&12- says: Now these were more noble minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. Therefore many of them believed, along with a number of prominent Greek women and men. Apparently these became believer’s because they (Paul and Silas) were speaking the truth, they new it because it was written in the Word Of God!
