Netanyahu pushes for referendum on “peace agreement”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced plans to fast-track a bill that would put any future peace deal to a national referendum.

It takes two to tango. Netanyahu should decline this offer to dance.

A spokeswoman for the State Department confirmed that Palestinian and Israeli envoys will meet for formal negotiations, after two Palestinian spokesmen claimed that the planned talks were only a preliminary meeting.

Spokeswoman Jen Psaki said, according to the Times of Israel, that the sides reached “an agreement between parties to resume final status negotiations,” adding that “there are only a limited number of parties who know the true details of what was agreed.”

Psaki also denied rumors that former U.S. Ambassador to Israel Martin Indyk had been chosen to mediate the talks, and said that the U.S. is still finalizing its team for the negotiations.

On Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced plans to fast-track a bill that would put any future peace deal to a national referendum. The move is a response to a threat by Israeli Economy Minister Naftali Bennett to vote against the proposed state budget unless Netanyahu advances the referendum bill.

“Any agreement that is not approved by the people is not worthy of being signed,” Netanyahu told Israel’s Knesset, according to the Associated Press.

My comment:

The Zionist convictions among many MK’s in Israel is no longer based on truth and principles. That the Prime Minister of Israel is caught on the back foot is alarming.

Do he read his Bible?

 Genesis 17:7-9

I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you. The whole land of Canaan, where you now reside as a foreigner, I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you; and I will be their God.Then God said to Abraham, ‘As for you, you must keep my covenant, you and your descendants after you for the generations to come.

The US constitution can not be changed by emotional swings in the population. If a majority of Americans wants to change the constitution, they must first elect members of The Senate and the House of Representatives. Only they can go through a process of doing an amendment.

An amendment must also not be branded unconstitutional by the US Supreme Court. The Americans can not abolish freedom of speech, even if a majority of Americans desired to do so.

If the “peace agreement” with the Arabs included that Jews must leave the Mountains of Zion, the Knesset must never ratify it. Regardless if the secular majority of Israelis will vote “yes” to such a betrayal of Jews with solid Zionist convictions.

I hope and pray such a day never comes.

I understand that Netanyahu ‬‬ is afraid that the Knesset will ratify a “peace Agreement”, not having the popular support in Israel.  But a negative referendum, is not the way to secure the Jews in Judea and Samaria. Knesset must enforce Israeli laws in these two districts, and make them as Israeli as Tel Aviv and Haifa.  Annexed, and always remaining a part of the state of Israel.

That would be pleasing to Jesus the Messiah, the servant of God of Israel.
