Bible school: Lesson #1: Catholic Mary without sin. Jewish mother of Jesus offered sin offering

The Pope in Rome claims Mary lived a life without sinning. The Bible says all men have sinned, and that the Mother of Jesus offered a sin offering.

You are welcome as a free student. Freely I have received, and freely I will give. The first topic will be:

Who was the Jewish mother of Jesus?

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church

Paragraph 411:

«The Christian tradition sees in this passage an announcement of the “New Adam” who, because he “became obedient unto death, even death on a cross”, makes amends super abundantly for the disobedience, of Adam. Furthermore many Fathers and Doctors of the Church have seen the woman announced in the Protoevangelium as Mary, the mother of Christ, the “new Eve”. Mary benefited first of all and uniquely from Christ’s victory over sin: she was preserved from all stain of original sin and by a special grace of God committed no sin of any kind during her whole earthly life».

The Bible does not teach us about a sinless Mary. Only God is without sin. The Word of God explains to us that the Jewish Mother of Jesus went to the temple to offer a sin offering:

Luke 2:23-25 (New King James Version)

As it is written in the law of the Lord, “Every male who opens the womb shall be called holy to the LORD”, and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons.

The Jewish mother of Jesus might have looked like this

Mary, the Mother of Jesus was a Torah observant Jewess. The sacrifice Mary was giving to her Master, was an act of obedience to the Law of Moses, an act found in Leviticus 12:8.

Leviticus 12:8 (New King James Version)

«And if she is not able to bring a lamb, then she may bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons, one as a burnt offering and the other as a sin offering. So the priest shall make atonement for her, and she will be clean»

The Jewish Apostles Paul taught us that all of us have sinned, and of course also the mother of Jesus:

Romans 3:23
«for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God».

The Pope of Rome is not telling us the truth about the Jewish Mother of Jesus. The Bible is the truth.

  1. Did Jesus sin? Do babies, small children and handicap sin? Did the 144,000 in Revelations sin? Did Enoch and Elijah sin? They were assumed into Heaven to avoid death with is the result of sin. Zechariah and Elizabeth are said to be “blameless” in Luke 1:6. And then finally, “for with God nothing is impossible”, Luke 1:37.

But with more on what St. Paul said…

    Romans 3:9-12

9 What then? Do we excel them? No, not so. For we have charged both Jews and Greeks, that they are all under sin. 10 As it is written: There is not any man just. 11 There is none that understands: there is none that seeks after God. 12 All have turned out of the way: they have become unprofitable together: there is none that does good, there is not so much as one.

    Romans 3:23

23 For all have sinned and do need the glory of God.

[Paul is quoting the Old Testament. He said “as it is written”.]

    [He is quoting this passage:]

    Psalms 14:1-5

1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds, there is none that does good.
2 The LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any that act wisely, that seek after God.
3 They have all gone astray, they are all alike corrupt; there is none that does good, no, not one.
4 Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers who eat up my people as they eat bread, and do not call upon the LORD?
5 There they shall be in great terror, for God is with the generation of the righteous.

[Paul is speaking of the evildoears, not the rightous.]

    1. Paul is talking about everyone, not just the evildoers, “…..for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; ”

      In Ecclesiastes it says,

Ecc 7:20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.

It also says in 1st John,

1Jn 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1Jn 1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Mary never said she was sinless. She made the same confession we all have to make.

Luk 1:46 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,
Luk 1:47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

    1. Dear Ed.

When the Pope and the Bible tells two different stories, one of them are lying. I know the Pope is a liar.

  2. All have sinned. Except there are some variations when Jesus talks about sin. There are sins that are remembered and sins which are not remembered. When God forgives there is no record of the sin, it is gone. This forgiveness only comes from God, Jesus. “If you were blind you would have no sin, because you say We See your sin remains” How much would remain in the “Holy See”?

    1. Dear Ed.

The topic of confession of sin is an important one. We have to confess our sins. But to who? The Bible says, to your brothers and sisters. Rome says, there can be no forgiveness of sins, in you do not confess to a Catholic priest.

I have heard Catholics explain that they are so scared of telling the truth to their priest, that they fake stories to tell during confession. And the priest gives them absolution (forgivenes) for fake sins. A more madhouse than this, you will hardly be able to find.

Many Roman Catholic priest get mental problems. They are simply not able to handle all the wickedness and sins of this corrupt religious system.

      1. There aren’t many examples of people confessing the bad things they have done in the bible. You sure it’s not enough to simply confess that we are indeed sinners? That seems enough to open the door, otherwise we would spend half our lives confessing and the other half listening, personally don’t want to hear it from other people. I too would go mad.

      2. Dear Ed.

The purpose of confession of sins, is to be set free from the guilt and damages of sins. If I have sinned against you Ed, I should come to you and ask forgiveness. There is no need to go to anybody else. If I tell you that It was my mistake, you will also walk free from condemnation.

To go to a Catholic priest, would be the last thing on my mind. It would be a silly thing to do. In specially, lying to him about sins that does not exist, and ask the priest to forgive me.

  3. Why you do those things to me in the first place Ivar?? Ha, just kidding.
Hey doesn’t a den of thieves even confess amongst themselves the things they’ve done to others? Anyway enough of that…

  4. ivarfjeld:
I’m Jewish and should not even have an opinion. But, I’m a female, so I have an opinion on everything that involves RELATIONSHIPS. Thats what we women do naturally. I also think that it’s natural to “confide” in someone about something that you may not tell your family or anyone else. When one utters their transgressions, they become real. I believe that THAT was the purpose of the confessional. Jews do similar things, but it’s not mandatory. If you want to get something off your chest, then you go to a Rabbi. It’s like psychotherapy. The rabbi is a different entity than a priest. The Priest stands above you, but the Rabbi stand shoulder to shoulder. He is a man that LIVES the life that g-d wants PEOPLE to live, and the PRIEST abstains from that life. The Priest is someone who has no connection to earthy life , so that is why he’s able to dish out a punishment? Rabbi’s suggest solutions, but there is no “punishments” other than what he believes will come naturally. Anyway. That’s my perspective. Take it with a grain of salt.

    1. Dear txlady 706

Shalom, and welcome back with a fresh comment.

My master is a Jewish Rabbi. He told us that a good priest is a shepherd. A good shepherd looks after His flock. For me, this is always my take on a good Pastor, Priest or Rabbi. Do that person care for the people God has appointed him to look after?

My rabbi is a Jew. He has saved me. I will forever live in the Kingdom of God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel (Jacob).

  5. When I was a Catholic…our family did all the things the Catholic Church says to do. All those things we were to do were useless works. All those works we did, like infant baptism, confession, first communion, Mass every Sunday, etc., etc., etc., we did those things to be in right standing with God…so that when we die we can be with Jesus. When my mother was dying, the priest didn’t get to hear her last confession because she was too weak to speak anymore. When my mom died I was only 24yrs old, a devout Catholic. I was told we cannot know forsure if she died and went to heaven with Jesus because the priest didn’t hear her last confession.
Well, that night I realized the Catholic Church was fallible…man-made and false. The Catholic Church couldn’t even tell a person how to be saved! I wanted God’s Truth. God’s infallible truth through Jesus Christ. I then prayed to God, and decided I would search for His Truth, that I would never give up no matter how long it took. It took many years but Jesus saved me.
Seek God with all your heart through Jesus Christ. Start obeying Jesus now, and don’t rely on the unbiblical doctrines of the Catholic Church and infant baptism.
The Bible is God’s Truth. And I pray He opens the eyes of your heart. There is nothing more important than being saved. And nothing more beautiful than knowing it and having a personal relationship with Jesus.

    1. Dear Victoria.

Shalom, and welcome back. Today, reading your reply, you have indeed blessed me. Return to sender: Love and grace.

  6. I don’t swear to be right on this one at all but, Genesis 2-3 Christ first predicted, God talking to Abraham
2- “And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great, and thou shalt be a blessing” 3- “I will also bless them that bless thee, and curse them that curse thee, and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed”

It does say families, also the eye for an eye thing since iniquities are passed down to the third and fourth generation why wouldn’t righteousness be passed up?

    1. Dear Ed.

      Righteousness is passed up….

Jesus said he would bless those who love him through 1000 generations. When I was saved, I understood this. I had two reformed Christian grandmothers, and a reformed Christian mother, that had always been praying for their wild son and grandson. I was so wild in my youth, I could have ended up getting killed or imprisoned.

When I read about the generational blessings, I started to cry. Than I went back and thanked all who had been praying for me.

    2. Hello Ed, you said: (why wouldn’t righteousness be passed up?) IT does!! Example, look at Elizabeth and Zecharyah, they were righteous in all their ways, who did they give birth to? Yahchanan. (John) There are many many examples in the holy scriptures concerning righteous bloodlines being preserved till this day. But the question is, what is RIGHTEOUSNESS? how can one attain it?

  7. Ah, a bit more generous than I expected. I was fairly crazy in my youth as well. There’s more to learn from the passage in Genesis. The devil in me says that Abraham served God because he promised he would make him a great nation, and was probably decieved that the blessing was not so much a worldly one. That can’t be true though, after studying Christ it can only be that Abraham served God righteously without need of worldly favors.

  8. I am very much enjoying this site. Sounds like a wild bunch of Messianic believers…… like me.
I a looking for the list of Early Church leaders starting with James and to 100. And some character background.

Got in a stiff debate with a Catholic friend of mine, a really sweet Pro-life activist. I told him there was no Bibical Proof of that. Apostolic Accension from Peter. Oh yah! he says, takes out his pocket sized New Testament ( I wondered where the rest of it was) quoted Jesus (Yeshua), ” On this Rock I will build my church” The Rock … being Peter. He then said he leans on the Church’s teaching for 2000 years not like Protestants that have a 1000 denominations. .. point taken … even Messianics are not unanimous. So I said: ” but 2000 years ago they didn’t teach what your church teaches”. Well you know the standard Catholic response and even a standard Modern Christian Church Response today…. ” We evolved! ” Yeah! from Moses to Mary and from Passover to the Goddess of Estere. From God’s Seasonal cycles of worship to man’s feeble concepts of worship. How is that evolution?

Anyway: he was astounded that Christmas and Easter where pagan concepts, he practically feinted!. Finally walkiing down the stairs I said I have a hard time discussing about a Church that dismisses the Old Testament. My oh my! He said you scandalize me, you break my heart, ” Of course we respect the Old Testament!”

Saints I need your highest kingly prayers to break through Satan”s iron cage of deceit around this precious soul. He truly loves Jesus! And believes I am deceived. I know I won’t be able to break through. Please pray. His name is ” Don”.

  9. 1) The Church pre-dates the Bible, so your saying that without a Bible, you had no truth. Therefore the apostles all had no truth, for they had no Bible. The Bible, while teaches all truth, is all of what is truth. Does the Bible say the words “Trinity”. No. Sola Scriptura my friend is flawed at it’s very core.

Secondly, “Bible alone” is found nowhere in the Bible.
Thirdly, the Catholic Church assembled the Bible, and has the wisdom passed down on the context. Tell me how you haven’t stripped that away?

    1. Dear Hudson.

Shalom, and welcome to this site.

      You wrote:

      My comment:

This is a typical misunderstanding among Catholics. The Bible is 3.000 year old. Jesus read from the Hebrew Bible when He taught in the synagogues. The New Testament is a book built on the Old Testament, which we call the Hebrew Bible. If there were no Hebrew Bible, there would not be a Messiah in the first place. Because He is the Word of God, that came in flesh.

      1. Why do you Christians squoble over such matters with words, when down thru the ages GOD has always provided us with physical proof, when in your minds did it become a sin to test his words .It is quiet aparent that not only are the catholics under the deception of Satan but Christians aswell .GOD in his great wisdom has given the true followers of his son JESUS a great knowlage for the up and comeing times, witch will test us all, but many Christians are to proud and rigid in there own faith to listen to a message from there brother ? http://www.thir….(Censored. 2. Dean,

I am a Christian. I attend a Pentecostal church. I do not think I am under the deception of Satan, because I have accepted Christ as my Savior. Though we as Christians put on the armor of Christ so we can take a stand against Satan’s schemes.

Ephesians 6:11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

We are in the last days before Christ comes. Many false prophets have risen. Many claim things that never happened. Which is why we must test, and that is what Christ says.

Still, there are those who put their faith in God 100%, and Jeuss said:

Acts 2:17 “‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.”

    2. Hudson,

Your comment: Does the Bible say the words “Trinity”. No

My Comment: The bible may not use the exact word “trinity”, but it is clear in God’s word, that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are one.

Matthew 28 verse 19 says: Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

This is a CLEAR bible verse showing that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are one.

John 10 verse 30 says: I and The Father are One.

      Isaiah 43:12 says:
      I have declared and saved,
      I have proclaimed,
      And there was no foreign god among you;
      Therefore you are My witnesses,”
Says the LORD “that I am God.”

      John 8 verses 57 to 58 says:
57″You are not yet fifty years old,” the Jews said to him, “and you have seen Abraham!”

58″I tell you the truth,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!”

  10. Leave them to their superstition, whitewashed sepulchures full of dead mens bones, the scriptures are enough for me, with the direction and revalation from the Ruach ha Kodesh, no pope needed. Gods word says it all

  11. How is it, that the Bible is the sole authority for teaching Christianity? And, if our Holy Scripture is the sole authority for Christian teaching, then, where does it say that in our Holy Scripture? In fact, how is it even possible, given that Christianity itself predates the Bible, which means that someone had to write the first Bible, without benefit of a Bible as a reference?

    1. Hi Allen, the holy scriptures is based solely on The Law and the Prophets. The Law was given to Adam and Eve long before Moses came into the picture.. Abel was a Righteous Priest. You can’t be righteous without knowing the Law.

“Sin is the transgression of the Law” 1 John 3:4 If sin is the breaking of the Law, then righteousness is the keeping of the Law Deuteronomy 28

Therefore, Abel had the teachings of the Law at his disposal. Cain on the other hand rejected the Law and did what seemed pleasing in his own eyes. So you see, the teachings of Yahweh the most high was around before the bible was put together. The Messiah didn’t have the New Testament, he had the Torah (Hebrew for the Law)

      1. Simon,

Don’t you know your righteousness is but filthy rags the scripture says?

HE is your righteousness ! You will not attain heaven by rule following or good works. Only by the blood of Jesus.

      2. Hello sueliz1, that particular verse is specifically referring to the Pharisees, Sadducees, and Essenes who pretend to be righteous but are not, the Messiah called
them hypocrites, whitewashed sepulchers Matthews 23:27

People assume that the passage is suggesting that anyone who practices righteousness is nothing but filthy rags. That’s incorrect, it’s an excuse people use to continue sinning and to satisfy their lust.

    2. The Bible is the sole authority because it is GOD’S WORD. The men who wrote it were under the direction of the Holy Spirit.

2 Timoth 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,

  12. Yes the popes are a fine example to follow, incest, murder, corruption etc etc I prefer to follow the Lord Jesus Christ and adhere to His word rather than the traditions of men, it appears whatever one pope say the next pope has to uphold it as they are considered infalible, therefore we have such ridiculous unbiblical teachings such as purgatory, transubsitation, mass etc etc. Come out of bondage and follow Christ,

  13. You wrote: The Bible does not teach us about a sinless Mary. Only God is without sin. The Word of God explains to us that the Jewish Mother of Jesus went to the temple to offer a sin offering:

Don’t you fully understand the meaning of “Highly favored one” or “Full of grace” or kecharitomene (greek) ?

Again Luke 1:48 “henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.”
Are you cursing her with sin?

I request you in the name of our Lord Jesus that before replying anything, please seek divine intervention on this. You are such a wonderful person and God loves you much. Let Lord speak through you. Thanks

    1. Dear Oldman.

Welcome back after a long time. We have been through this before. What do you want to achieve by your comments on this site?

    2. Luke 1:42 is Elizebeth speaking to Mary by the Holy spirit. “In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear!”

So it’s one thing to call her blessed among women, and entirely another she is blessed in every possible way and now is equal to God, like the Catholic church does. Mary did not rise above women, she remained among women, blessed for the child she was chosen to bear. Human and all humans have sin.

  14. This is good conversation. It is called fellowship. Pretty awesome. In the Bible there is no word Bible. It is called scripture, doctrine, the Word. The word came and is mentioned from the beginning in Genesis 1. God spoke Gen. 1:3 God said… 1:5 God called… 1:6 God said… 1:9 God said… 1:10… God called… 1:11 God said… 1:14 God said…1:24 God said…. 1:26 God said 1:29 God said…. In the book of John in verse 1:1 It says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Faith, full of grace and truth. John 1:14. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness that the man of God may be perfect thoroughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Timothy 3:16&17. The word Bible comes from a Greek word “Biblos” which is translated “book”. Original manuscripts were kept in synogogoues. Those who had custody first used Greek to translate and also to this day continues to be translated in over 518 languages and 2,798 have at least a portion of scripture according to wikipedia. If God created the heavens and the earth and all creatures, languages and words, He can preserve His written Word. Scripture says, “For verily I say unto you till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Matthew 5:18 P.S. GRACE MEANS ACCORDING TO WEBSTERS DICTIONARY: THE FREELY GIVEN UNMERITED FAVOR OF GOD. Grace applied to Mary, Steven, and all who lived before us and including us= unmerited favor. For by Grace have we been saved through FAITH and not of our own selves it is a “GIFT” of God, not of works lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8&9

  15. Only Jesus Christ has been born without sin, and could remain sinless, because He did not have a human father. Sin only passes through the father. Yashua was and is – fully man, and fully God. If Mary was sinless, why did she claim her need for the Savior in the Magnificat?

    Romans 5:12

12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

    1 Timothy 2:13-14

13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

    Luke 1: 46-47

46 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,

47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

    Isaiah 42:8

8 I am the Lord: that is My name: and My glory will I not give to another, neither My praise to graven images.

  16. A True Story!
An Evangelical friend said me, “When I go to a doctor I don’t want to talk to his mother. Just as the same with why go to Mary?” That is an interesting analogy.

However, this Evangelical talks regularly with his pastor and asks the pastor to pray for him. That pastor doesn’t turn him away by saying, “Don’t talk to me! Don’t ask me to pray for you! Go straight to Jesus!” The pastor has compassion and “intercedes” (stands in the gap) for him. He prays for the congregation and for individuals. He has compassion and wants to assist people in their relationship with Christ. This in no way diminishes Jesus’ role as the Lord and Savior. Heaven is not a “dead” place, but a place for the living and especially the Saints!!!

Most of you think the word “praying” means “worship.” So it makes sense that they think Catholics who “pray” to Mary actually “worship” her. Let’s look up the word “pray” in the dictionary. Here is what Webster’s says about the word pray:

Most Dictionaries and Theological word search explain the meaning of “Pray”

    (1) To utter petition to God … (2) To make a fervent request: PLEAD (3) To beseech: implore (4) to make a devout or earnest request for.

The first thing to notice is that the word “worship” is not included in the definition of “pray.” It does not mean “worship.” A prayer to Mary is clearly not a petition to God. Mary is not God, and there is not one faithful Catholic since the apostles who has said she is. So clearly it is not the first meaning.

The English language is often limited in that we often have to use the same word to say different things. There are several meanings of the word “pray.” When Catholics pray to God they “utter a petition to God.” When they pray to Mary and the Saints they are making a “devout or earnest request for” prayers from Mary or the saints. In medieval times when a royal court official was asking something of a person who outranked him, he would say “I pray thee your majesty.” You have to say that in an English accent to get the full effect! The person was simply making a request in a polite manner.
