Matthew 27:52-53
The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus’ resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people.
When Jesus died on the cross, and was raised from the grave after three days, marvelous things took place inside Jerusalem. It must have been a powerful display of the power of God. Jesus said: I am the resurrection and life. That the power of the resurrection was so powerful that dead people was raised to life, and came out of their tombs. Thats exacty whats going to happen to you, if you are willing to believe in the Messiah.
You are absolutely right but remember that Jesus said four (4) times when the dead would be raised with immortal everlasting bodies, “on the last day”. See John Chapter 6 for the details. So it is useless to think that any dead bodies (raised to be immortal) will happen until the “last day”. Which really confuses the dickens out of many Christians that think the ‘rapture’ occurs first. Again, if there are any dead bodies coming out of the ground it must be on the “last day” or otherwise you are doubting the words of Jesus. Again, see John, Chapter 6. And of course the “last day” means just what is states, the “last day” or the end of this age and the end of this world.
Amen
Dear Gordon.
Shalom.
Jesus has already proven that dead bodies can raise from the graves. On their last day. In Jerusalem, in the moment Jesus died on the cross, holy men came out of their tombs. Lazarus came out of the tomb on the forth day.
I believe that people will raise from their grave and face judgment on the last day. These are men and women that comes out of Sheol, who have been there for the last three days. The rest of the dead will on that day already be in Heaven or Hell. For those who are sent to Hell, their death was the second and final judgment. The first judgment, was the day they rejected Jesus as God and Master.
Revelation 21:8
But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
I think we believe identically except perhaps a difference regarding the kind of body. Lazarus and others that were raised by Jesus didn’t have the same body that Jesus had when He was raised. Those folks died again. Of course Elijah and Enoch still have their original bodies as far as I know as they were taken up and didn’t die. Everyone will die and face judgment except believers have already passed from death to life as they have been renewed by the Spirit and have new life. Still their bodies must die as flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of G-d. This is the great hope we are all waiting for… the return of Jesus to give us new bodies that will remain with Him forever and ever. Let me please assure you these words are concrete and cannot be broken:
“all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again on the last day.” John 6:39
“everyone which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” John 6:40
“No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him; and I will raise him up at the last day.” John 6:44
“Whoso eateth my flesh and drinketh my bloood, hath everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”
“Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” John 11:24
“But go thou thy way till the end be; for thou shalt rest, and stand in athye lot at the end of days.” Daniel 12:13.
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of G-d, and the dead in Christ shall rise first.” 1 Thess.4:16
Trust this fact that when Jesus comes on the last day all Christians that have died and believed in Him will rise from the dead and their old bodies will come out and become immortal. Those that are living when He comes will be changed but the dead in Christ will rise first then those that are alive will be changed and caught up with the rest of the saints.
Anyway, I pray for you and trust the Lord Jesus Christ to give you wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.
AMEN!
Dear Gordon.
Shalom, and thanks for all kind of comments.
1 Thessalonians 4:15-17
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
There is no doubt that the “dead in Christ” will rise first. These are not the “sleeping souls” that the Seven Day Adventists believe have slept for thousands of years, and will finally get a chance to move back into an Earthly body to be judge. This Resurrection from the grave is our brothers and sisters that has passed away during the last days before the second coming of the Lord.
There are many people who go to the graves, and talk to the “sleeping souls”. This is wickedness. Our loved once who has passed away through the ages, are already in Heaven. Only demons are taking up from the graves, with people who visits the grave yards to speak with the “sleeping souls”.
The issue of who is “dead” is not a simple one. Jesus even told his students: Let the dead do and bury their own dead.
