Hamas ask Egypt for help reopening airport that has been closed since 2001; Mashaal expected to visit Strip for first time.
The Hamas government is working toward reopening the only airport in the Gaza Strip.
Named after Yasser Arafat, the airport, which is located close to the Egyptian border, opened in 1998, when the Palestinian Authority was still in control of the Gaza Strip
The airport was closed in 2001 after being damaged by the IDF.
Ziad al-Thatha, Hamas’s deputy prime minister, said that his government has asked the Egyptians to help reopen the airport. He did not say when and if it would resume operations.

After firing 1500 rockets into southern Israel in one week in November, the Hamas is seeking a bonus-program from the EU.
The Islamic terror-organization also wants a base for fighter jets and attack helicopters, so the destruction of Israel can be accomplish.
The airport in Gaza was opened by no other than the “peace maker” Bill Clinton. But when Yasser Arafat opened to kill 1.000 Israelis by using suicide bombers during the second intifada, the Israeli cabinet deceived to “close down” the new Yasser Arafat airport.
My best suggestion, is that this “airport” should remain closed. The EU should rather work for the liberation of the people in Gaza, by removing the brutal Hamas-regime. The best way to do this is stop financing this Islamic terror call.
Will the EU be willing to do that?
I guess it a better chance that a snowball will be able to survive an hour in the fire of Hell.
Israels fight against the Hamas, can be compared to Joshua lessons when he lead the Jews into the promised land:
And Joshua said, “Ah, Sovereign Lord, why did you ever bring this people across the Jordan to deliver us into the hands of the Amorites to destroy us? If only we had been content to stay on the other side of the Jordan!
O Lord, what can I say, now that Israel has been routed by its enemies?
The Canaanites and the other people of the country will hear about this and they will surround us and wipe out our name from the earth. What then will you do for your own great name?”
The Lord said to Joshua,
“Stand up! What are you doing down on your face?
Israel has sinned; they have violated my covenant, which I commanded them to keep.
They have taken some of the devoted things; they have stolen, they have lied, they have put them with their own possessions.
That is why the Israelites cannot stand against their enemies; they turn their backs and run because they have been made liable to destruction. I will not be with you anymore unless you destroy whatever among you is devoted to destruction.
“Go, consecrate the people. Tell them, ‘Consecrate yourselves in preparation for tomorrow; for this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: That which is devoted is among you, O Israel. You cannot stand against your enemies until you remove it.
