It has come to my attention that this evil doctrine titled, “serpent seed” is followed by many, and taught by false prophets/teachers. Let’s take a look at how this lie came to be.
1. What is the serpent seed doctrine? This horrific teaching teaches that Eve had sexual intercourse with Satan (the serpent) and that is how Eve bore Cain. William Branham taught that the fall of mankind started with this alleged coupling, and that Cain was a fertile man/serpent hybrid. Daniel Parker, Arnold Murray are false teachers who agree with this doctrine.
My Comment: This has got to be the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard, and trust me I’ve heard a lot. It is a devilish lie, used to confuse those that would believe in such a thing. The Word of God says in
Genesis 4: Adam made love to his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She said, “With the help of the Lord I have brought forth a man.” Later she gave birth to his brother Abel.
2. The serpent seed doctrine teaches that Eve claimed she was “seduced” by the serpent/devil.
My Comment: In studying what William Branham lied about, and he has lied/twisted the Word of God immensely, the seduced angle clearly goes against God’s Word.
Genesis 3:13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
What does deceive mean? To conceal the truth. So Satan deceived Eve, into eating the apple. He hid the truth from her, NOT seduced her.
3. Actual quote: William Branham stated, “What did he do? He begin making love to Eve. And he lived with her as a husband. And she saw it was pleasant, so she went and told her husband; but she was already pregnant by Satan. And she brought forth her first son whose name was Cain, the son of Satan.”
4. Actual Branham quote #2: “And if the serpent’s seed was spiritual, then Jesus was not a man, so the woman’s Seed was spiritual. They both had seeds, and the enmity is still there. The serpent had a seed. And if you’ll just take your Bible and get down and be real reverent before God, I believe God will reveal it to you.”
My comment: NO WHERE in the Word of God is there scripture supporting this. NO WHERE. It is a complete baseless lie taught by Branham and his followers.
2 Peter 2:1-3 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.
My comment: On a personal note, the word of God is the complete truth, always has been. If someone comes up to you with what is not in the Word of God, defend the truth, and rebuke the lies of the devil.
1 Timothy 4:1-5 Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.
My comment: We are close to our King’s Coming than ever before, and doctrines taught by demons, will become a common thing. Put on the armor of Jesus Christ, bury yourself in his Word, so that when teachings like these confront you, you can stand against Satan’s ways.
Ephesians 6:10-18 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. There have been a few who use John 8 versus 31-58 to try to explain the serpent seed as right.
John 8 Dispute Over Whose Children Jesus’ Opponents Are

Clarification: Jesus is responding to the Jews, those who hold and believe in him will be set free in Jesus Christ. Those who sin and continue to sin are of (see Jesus saying Abraham’s decendants trying to kill him), those who continue to sin are doing the works of their father.
Who is the father of those who refuse to accept Christ?
John 8:44 answers it beautifully. And it goes onto today, for every sinner who continues to sin, murder, speak evil, lies, and commits atrocities, Jesus says:
John 8:44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
The father of sin is Satan. Always has been, and will be until Jesus casts him into the lake of fire.
On a last note: John 7:17 If anyone chooses to do God’s will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.

As the verse above shows it was
Adam that knew his wife, not
Satan. And let’s not forget the
verse tells us the man was from the
Lord not Satan.
Nowhere in Scripture does it state
that Satan had relations with Eve.

saying that in 2Cor11:3 beguile
means that Satan seduced Eve

You either misinterpret my words or choose to believe what your view/perception of things are. Christ warns us plenty of times not to be deceived by false teachers.
When I did not have an understanding of what God’s word was, I looked to those who taught it directly as the Lord Christ was saying it. I looked to those who did not use choose to confuse God’s words from “deceived” to “seduced.” And I prayed a lot for understanding through Christ.
James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
So when you say let people study it, and come up with there own conclusions, I say ask Jesus.
And to your last comment, I know perfectly well who Saves, and that is only Jesus. I’m just his daughter his humble servant.

Really? I would have to see that. I mean to be honest I like Arnold Murray and he does not teach racism in any form… actually he teaches racial and gender equality. Maybe in the past he believed something different. Really what Murray’s teachings boil down to is the difference of those believing in a “rapture” he often makes references to the original languages of each Bible. Honestly our believe systems are all similar as christians. I read the Bible when I was younger… own my own having never attended an actual church service (and never heard of murray) save for maybe once and if I did it was Baptist, anyway, I gathered that there was no ‘rapture’ being that we are not all of a sudden zapped from the face of the earth. we are brought a false messiah and many are mislead. Murray’s main teaching that he emphasizes is that Jesus returns at the 7th trump and 7th vial and to not be deceived because the anti-christ comes first. I read this as a child and I believed that way before much of the wickedness in this world was upon me. So I believe in a similar doctrine.

I discovered that the Word of God is so rich, more than we can hold, the wisdom of God is without measure, there are many things that we do not know yet, thats why Jesus said(John16:12-13)”I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye CANNOT BEAR them NOW.13. My comment: FJN, you don’t get it. A false prophet teaches what is not in the Word of God. He spreads lies, to confuse and distort people. You say you do not hear me talk about those spreading the Word of God correctly. But I tell you that believers-true believers will never distort God’s Word. Will never add to it. My comment: Where is it that I added to the Word of God? Trust me when I tell you I accept “all fall short of the Glory of God” including me, because Christ has shown me things, but a sinner like me he loves that much.
Now you quibble over the fruit being an apple or it wasn’t an apple. FJN, what’s more important to you: Finding out whether the fruit was an apple or not, or finding out that Branham told a lie when he said: Cain was from Eve and Satan? Which one FJN to you will make a difference as to whether one will be punished for eternity? You do not see there errors of a false prophet, and that is where you are blind!
FJN, truly I tell you and have explained, that the Bible verse you use 3:12 does NOT PROVE that Cain is from Satan. Such an error is horrendous. You must really pray and ask God to show you the way. Sin is from Satan, and as I said before that is what Jesus was talking about.

Daniel Parker taught “two seeds in the spirit”, not in the flesh. I know this I used to belong to a congregation that fellowshipped some congregations that taught this doctrine. It basically taught that everyone had existed (in spirit form) before this life, that they are born in human flesh (wherein is made manifest, by their works, what seed they are —- that is, what type of person they were, are, and forever shall be) and at death, return into the spirit realm. As taught by them,it is not racist, but is very, very fatalistic, not allowing that a person of the “serpent seed” (as manifested by evil deeds) could repent and turn from their wickedness, nor could a person of the “righteous seed” do wickedly and be lost. That is how Daniel Parkerism is taught among certain “Old Baptist” churches in eastern Kentucky and West Virginia. Just thought I’d let you know.

So according to Gen 4:25 the seed of the good, “The seed of the woman” is maintained through which our Saviour the Son Jesus Christ in flesh can manifest.

Gen4v1- all life(good and bad) came from God, but there is always an appointed seed(see gen.5v3) in place of abel. Cain was never in adam’s genealogy ANYWHERE IN THE BIBLE.

Clarification: Jesus is responding to the Jews, those who hold and believe in him will be set free in Jesus Christ. Those who sin and continue to sin are of (see Jesus saying Abraham’s decendants trying to kill him), those who continue to sin are doing the works of their father.
Who is the father of those who refuse to accept Christ?
John 8:44 answers it beautifully. And it goes onto today, for every sinner who continues to sin, murder, speak evil, lies, and commits atrocities, Jesus says:
John 8:44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him.

You cannot take one simple verse out of John Chapter 8, and draw your own sinful conclusion on it, based on something you took out of context. it makes no sense.
But that is exactly what you do. Shepherd’s Chapel studies from chapter to chapter and verse to verse. And they teach serpent seed doctrine which will s what the Bible teaches. Do you know who the Kenites are? Can you explain the Parable of the Fig Tree. Christ said learn the Parable of the Fig Tree. Do you know it? I know that you don’t. agreed, we often focus on the wrong part of the story. Seek wisdom in God and you shall find it… in what form it may come. The “Serpent-Seed” doctrine is a lie propagated by racists. It goes hand in hand with the claim that black people are of a different origin to white people. The serpent seed theory has many man made errors to it, and threatens to add to the Word of God, when clearly God’s word stands on his own.
A clear example which I will reiterate here from the article I wrote above, Using words like “Eve was seduced” COMPARED TO GOD’S WORD “Eve was deceived” is a huge difference. If a man knocks on my door and chooses to twist what I know CLEARLY states in the Word of God, I will show him his/her exit.

Please explain Genesis 3:13-16, you left that out. And, Genesis 4:2 she “again” meaning Cain and Abel were twins. Cain is not mentioned in the lineage of Adam, twice. Cain has his own lineage. Only good thing for you, not believing in the serpent seed will not keep you out of Heaven, but if you understood it, it opens many more doors in the Bible, like circumcision.
I have just recently heard about the serpent seed heresy. Gloria, you are to be commended for your defense of the truth of God’s word against this heresy. I would like to comment if I may. I was reading comments by “jimmy the smith” .

ISAIAH 8:20 says – ” To the law and the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” If peoples opinions contradict God’s word, it is because their opinions are false! II Timothy 3:15-17 “That from a child you have known the holy scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
All scripture is given by the inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Those who don’t understand or believe all of Scripture, or think they can interpret it any way they please do not know God! They belong to those spoken of in I Corinthians 1:18; 2:14 etc.
II Timothy 3:12-13 says – “All who live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.”
This same man also criticized “SAVED BY GRACE.”
Ephesians 2:8-9 – ” For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the GIFT OF GOD, NOT OF WORKS, lest anyone should boast.”
I Corinthians 1:29-31 – ” That no flesh should glory in His presence.
But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, Who became for us wisdom from God – righteousness, sanctification and redemption – that, as it is written, ” He who glories, let him glory in The Lord.”
Titus 3:5 ” Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of The Holy Spirit.”
Jesus tells us in John 6:44,65 ” No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.”
v’s 39-40 says – ” This is the will of The Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day.
And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees The Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”
Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ by His shed blood on the cross and bodily resurrection from the dead is the one and only way of salvation!
John 14:6 Jesus said – ” I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to The Father, except through Me.”
Acts 4:12 says “Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which you must be saved.”
This is speaking about the Name of Jesus Christ. Deity in the flesh, The Great I AM.
John 8:58 “… before Abraham was, I Am.” cf. Exodus 3:14.
Acts 16:31 When Paul & Silas were asked the way of salvation, they answered – ” Believe on The Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved…”
I might also ad that good works are not a way of salvation or an addition to the work of Jesus Christ, but are a result of having already been saved.
Titus 3:8 says – ” … Those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works.” cf. v.14.
II Corinthians 5:17 says – ” Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
Salvation is by grace! Romans 5:1-2 ” Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through Whom also we access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”
Romans 4:4 ” Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt.” Works does not provide salvation – V.5 But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly , his faith is accounted as righteousness.”
When Jesus was asked in John 6:28 “What shall we do , that we may work the works of God?” Jesus answered v. 29 – ” This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”
Any other gospel than the gospel of grace comes under the double curse of God!
Galatians 1:8-9 ” But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.
As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.”
This is not my opinion but the clear teaching of the inspired, innerant, word of God.
But, of course this will mean nothing to those who reject the truth of God’s word.
It amazes me the relativism of today. The false theory of non absolutes. Two opinions can be in direct opposition, yet both true! How naive can one be!
God’s word is true and truth and error are rightly divided.

In regarding the serpent seed heresy – Hebrews 5:12-14 ” For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.
For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.
For solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
I John 2:26-27 – These things I have written to you concerning those who are trying to deceive you.
But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.”
This is not a contradiction to I Corinthians 12:28 but this is referring to discernment between the truth and false teachings. We who are in Christ have the Spirit of God within and have the ability to discern between truth and error.
I John 4: 1-6 tells us to test the spirits to see if they confess the Lord Jesus Christ. If they do not, they are of the world and the world will hear them. A child of God will not believe a lie. v. 5-6 They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them.
We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
A true believer in Jesus Christ would never be deceived by heresies like serpent seed!
II Corinthians 11:3 ” But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.”
v’s 13-15 ” For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.
Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.”cf. Revelation 20:13.
There is absolutely not one shred of scripture that one could use that would even hint at such a heresy!
It doesn’t take a scholar to see through these false teachings!

The Bereans searched the scriptures. I hardly see how believing in the serpent seed is going to lose someone their salvation ? Hardly blasphemy ? No criticism of God of Jesus or Holy spirit ? It is not going to lead us to doubt God or to to sin or whatever ?We all know what we believe and in the end it matters not as the great Dutch WW2 Christian Heroine Corrie ten Boom said : ” Don’t worry too much what you do not understand about the Bible. Worry instead what you DO know and are not doing.”
I think both doctrines ( apple eating or serpent seed) have their pro’s and cons. Even their own ” evidence” !!
To say there is no such thing as a serpents seed is of course odd,whatever it is , GOD mentioned it as part of the curse He put on the serpent and Eve was to do with ” seed” and everywhere seed is referred to in the Bible means offspring.What it actually means ?

Whatever,strange Cain is not in the geneology of Adam/Jesus. On the other hand neither are the other brothers and sisters of Cain Abel and Seth we are told were also children of Adam and Eve. ( as she is the mother of all living),such as who Cain married and whom he was afraid would kill him.

The wrongGenesis is i.e. Evoution ? Whatever the original sin was it happened and we suffer for it and Jesus saves us from it is the most important. ? Quite honestly I find it all fascinating,the different interpretations of original sin and thank God for such discussions – which we always had when I was growing up at home.we would discuss the sermon Sunday , or anything we came across. Obviously there would not be thousands of denominations if there were not so many interpretations of scriptures and each one declares themselves as right.
I know God gave me a brain as well as a heart and soul and that I am made in the image of God ( who is spirit) so I like to pray and think and search
We can often be too stuck in a denominational teaching and can call each other heretical too often without good reason, and this is the reason I worship at home as the first Christians did for 300 years. But each unto his own.I have no problem with those who attend a church , as they have the freedom as I do.

The revelation of the serpent seed does not present any means to lead God’s children astray, I wonder why some people think it is a lie from the devil. A lie from the devil then how does it benefit the devil. Jesus has made it clear to us several times; he gave a parable of the wheat and tares found in Matthew 13:24-30 and 37-43. Please note that Jesus interpreted this parable and the interpretation is clear but christians still see this interpretation as a parable, I wonder why?? John 8:44 also confirms it Jesus was speaking to the Pharisees and proclaimed, ‘Ye are of your father the devil..” The term “of” meaning generation, offspring. They were of the physical seed of their father the devil.

Let me re-post what William taught, “What is the serpent seed doctrine? This horrific teaching teaches that Eve had sexual intercourse with Satan (the serpent) and that is how Eve bore Cain. William Branham taught that the fall of mankind started with this alleged coupling, and that Cain was a fertile man/serpent hybrid.
Please point out to me where in the Bible this what Branham teaches. I don’t find it anywhere. Do you know why? Because William does try to lead and has led people away from GOD’S TRUTH.
You ask me how a lie benefit’s the devil? It benefits him completely, because his lie leads people away from God and the Word of God. What Branham teaches simply isn’t biblical.

Red, You say that in John 8:44 that the Pharisees are the physical seed of their father the devil. Jesus said in verse 37, “I know that you are Abraham’s descendants”. So Jesus states that they are Abraham’s descendants but you claim they are physical seeds of the devil. So is Abraham a seed of the devil then too? And for everyone that says Cain is not in the genealogy need to understand he will never be because the genealogy shows the path to Christ which went through Seth. And for those that say Cain can’t be Adam’s son because he did evil things. Let’s not forget that Adam had already sinned before having Cain. This makes Adam a fallen sinful man. How many times do we see differences in kids where one is good and one is bad but have the same father?
Hard thing to ponder… Many pros and cons. To be that of devil means obey devil or to be literally genetically descendant? My approach is to follow indirect traces of what happened in Paradise. First of all, punishment of Eve (sex and begetting children), Adam – troubled business. Other: for example, where come sex from ? SSD is one answer, anti SSD says “from God as His marvellous gift”. Ok, no recognition here. So what about sex – I mean legal, marital sex, not fornication – after Paradise? See Numeri – restrain semene in the body – polluting matter. Flow out of the body – polluting matter. Gods presence on the Sion? “Do not touch your wifes .. !” David and others eating holy bread? “Wifes are distant so our bodies are holy …” 1st Corinthian 7 ? Marital sex is admitted only it is a tool against danger of fornication, no positive assessment. So is it closer to what Branham says about sex (“the second, not first intent of God “), and of seed of the devil, or to what churches publish to that topic fantasying about “marvellous gift of God” ? (There is something wrong with the sex, even legal one). The sooner is right, not the later. I am not the branhamite, by the way.
Some reputable Jewish Rabbis also taught the serpent seed doctrine, Some people look into it deeper and know more , Yes at first glance it seems like a false teaching, but in every part of scripture pertaining to the Eve/serpent encounter there are always key words that allow for the serpent seed view point. Even Eves statement “I have got a man from the Lord” statement is her way of not giving Adam the credit as she did at other times , Besides all life/births are a miracle from the LORD.

As someone who was/is born again in Christ (+), and having read ALL of the Word, and with discernment and spirit, I personally take no issue with either viewpoint (I was not there in Eden, so I cannot be sure on this matter). Is it possible that Cain was the actual seed of Satan? IMO, yes, based on ALL of the Word. However and again, I don’t really know? Does anyone living in flesh today? Also, it really does not matter; what matters most is focus on & in Christ (+), our Lord!

The doctrine associated with the biblical reference to the seeds (English rendering KJV). and specifically to the seed of the character with which the woman had her verbal exchange and with which Yahweh identifies a forthcoming enmity; (between the woman’s seed and of the serpent’s) the noun seed: זַרְעֲךָ֖ zera in Gen. 3:16 the original Hebrew is RARELY used of beasts. So the reference of two seeds and their corresponding seed lines in Genesis 3:16 is NOT an invention of the late Reverend Branham.
Meaningful conversation can raise the level of our understanding if we summon our better angels through contending for the faith rather beating down one another. Yet setting aside for moment the theological rhetoric these discussions provoke; the unconscionable practice of attacking Branham or his doctrinal apothegms by pointing out where he contradicts himself isn’t suitable within the realms of apologetic exercise. This practice of disparaging one another because we espouse diverse schools of thought within the possibility space, is especially heinous, in that we claim to share spiritual parentage as part of a preternatural corporate body whose Head is Christ. Very interesting comments on here on both sides of the controversy. To sum it up, Christ Jesus said in John 6:44 -45 44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.
Hmm, I guess that means Romans 8:28-30 is true, 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
Not my words, these are God’s Spoken Word. Now in Genesis in the second chapter, after God had spoken every thing in creation, and rested on the seventh day. The LORD GOD formed Adam from the dust of the ground and breathed life in him and gave him a soul. THIS WAS THE ORIGINAL CREATION, the way God spoke in on that 6th day, NOT THE WAY EVE BROUGHT IT FORTH, she was in the transgression. Thus realizing their nakedness.
