German stole “sacred” grandmother of Venezuelan tribe

Wolfgang von Schwarzenfeld’s sculptures in a Berlin park were meant to promote world peace.

Wolfgang von Schwarzenfeld’s stole this “holy” stone from a tribe in Venezuela.

Now the 79-year-old German now finds himself at war with a Venezuelan tribe which accuses him of stealing a sacred pink stone known to them as “Grandmother”.

The Venezuelan government is championing the Pemon Indians of the “Gran Sabana” region by demanding the return of the polished stone from Berlin’s Tiergarten park – putting the German government in something of a dilemma.

With Caracas calling it robbery, and the sculptor arguing that the stone was a legal gift, the monolith is emitting more negative energy than its esoteric fans in Berlin are used to.

Blissfully unaware of the diplomatic tug-of-war, Robert, a Berlin gardener, got off his bicycle to light joss sticks among the stones from five continents that form the “Global Stone Project”, awaiting friends for an afternoon shamanic ritual.

But newly arrived Venezuelan tourists Grecia Melendez and Juan Carlos Brozoski knew all about the war of the stone and suspected there were political motives behind the protests.

“(President Hugo) Chavez always wants a conflict with someone,” said 32-year-old Melendez, taking photos of the 12 cubic meter stone, which is engraved with the word “love” in different languages – and graffiti with couples’ names and hearts.

My comment:

There is nothing new in colonialists being looters and robbers. The European history is full of criminals, who robed the third world for most of its valuables.

But to steal a sacred “grandmother” is something spectacular new.

For this German, there might not be any hope of repentance and salvation.  Most Europeans around his age have heard the gospel, and rejected it. I hope I am wrong.

But for the the Venezuelan tribe, there might be hope. Hope that Jesus will send some of his students, to explain to them than no stone is sacred. That to elevate created pieces of stone and wood is idolatry, punishable with eternal death.

 Deuteronomy 4:28
There you will worship man-made gods of wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or eat or smell.

Let us pray that the victims of the European looters will find favor with God of the Bible.

  1. Ivar,
Hello I frequently vist your site and agree with several of your view points. There is one thing however that does push me the wrong way. I have noticed it in a few of your other articles, and now in this one, that you seem to excute judgement on people.
You wrote,” For this German, there might not be any hope of repentance and salvation. Most Europeans around his age have heard the gospel, and rejected it. I hope I am wrong.”

I do believe that you are right in saying that most europeans have heard the gospel and have rejected it. But how many times did you or I reject the good news of Yeshua before we finally submitted to him. We do not know the condition of a persons heart and the point that has simply been to much rejection. Only our God in heaven knows that. It is not our place to state that there may be no hope of repentance for anyone.
I do mean this comment in the most respectful way. And I pray that you will see it as just a little councel among siblings in Christ.
    May the Lord Bless you

      Shalom, and love in Jesus.

You are right. I need to repent. Even last night I had to make a U-turn, and drive back in the night from where I came.

It is true, that I have been to judgmental recently. I have not been cleaver in telling people that Jesus still love them, even if they do not repent in this moment. Repentance can not come before the Father draws a person closed to His Son. It will hopefully happen to most of the people, at least into their last moments. And for true Christians, it will have to be a daily affair. Not willing, or not able to listen to what Jesus wants us to do in any given moment.

I promise to let there be more words of love in my messages, and less message of judgment and eternal condemnation.
