10 per cent of the rice harvest in West Bengal haven been damaged by hailstorms. A shower of meteorites falls on an area in central India.
Hailstorms in the past week have damaged crops – primarily paddy – worth more than 162 crore in the state (30 million USD).
However, officials allayed fears that this will trigger any price rise of rice in the coming days.
Around 10.69 hectare of land, out of which crops covering over 1.36 lakh area, was affected. This is approximately 10 per cent of the total cultivation area in 12 districts in the state.
The crops affected are paddy, maize, pulses, wheat, jute and vegetables. Crops over 58,000 hectare of land has been destroyed completely, causing loss to 166.2 tonne of crops.

A shower of stones from space hit an area in central India, the same week as the huge attack of hailstorms. This is what the India media has recorded:
A team of scientists from Mumbai will leave for Nagpur on Monday to investigate and study the impact of last Tuesday’s large meteorite shower in the Katol region which damaged several houses, an official said here on Sunday.
Tentatively named ‘Vinoba Meteorite Shower 2012’, the team will probe whether any crater has been formed in the region, covering a distance of around 200 sq km,
My comment:
Hailstorms are not unusual in India. But this large scale damage of the rice harvest is spectacular. It is also highly unusual that a nation is struck by both huge hailstones and a shower of meteorites the very same week.
The Indian government might claim that the price of rice will not rise. But the state of West Bengal has the city of Kolkatta as its capital, and 90 million people to feed.
The Bible explains that the end of the age will display fearful signs from the heavens. This was hopefully a good wake up call for 1,2 billion people in India.

There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.
The global media is to occupied with American infotainment, to record this kind of stuff from India.
The about one billion of hedonists in the Western civilization do not have time to reflect on this kind of events.
The end will take them all by surprise.
