Vatican detains Pope’s butler as suspect in leaks probe

The Vatican has said it has detained a person it suspects of leaking a series of confidential documents and letters to the media.

Its not easy to be a butler. Lot of temptations around, like secret documents.

The leaks have described alleged corruption, mismanagement, and internal conflicts among top Holy See officials. The Vatican said the person was being questioned by Vatican magistrates. Reports citing unnamed sources said that he was the Pope’s personal butler.

The “Vatileaks” scandal, as it is known, has enraged the Holy See.

Last month, Pope Benedict XVI set up a special commission of cardinals to investigate the leaks.

Italian media have named the arrested man as Paolo Gabriele, a personal butler and assistant to the Pope and one of very few laymen to have access to the Pope’s private apartments.

The news of the discovery comes just a day after the president of the Vatican bank, Ettore Gotti Tedeschi, was ousted by its board.

My comment:

 1 John 2:6
Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.

It would be wrong by me, to measure my faith by looking at the Pope. No doubt that we are equals in regards to the gospel, but still very different.

I do measure my faith in regards to the teaching and life of Jesus. Still I do not have my own bank director to sack, neither do I have a butler.

I can not say I have managed to identify my own police force, and I have not been granted diplomatic immunity. I guess Jesus did not have this either, so I do not mind.

 John 15:19

If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.

  1. Luke 20:46 Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;

Luke 20:47 Which devour widows’ houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.

  2. If the Vatican was doing nothing immoral or illegal, they would have nothing to fear from someone telling the truth about them, would they?

    1. A—-Bloody..Amen…Ellen!!! all this ‘leak stuff’ they don’t mind showing maggot ridden body parts and bowing to it publicly but they sure do mind their ‘immoral and detestably things they do to children and others being brought to light…but someone will cover it up with rose-blossom and call it ‘holy’ (Not HOLY) and the world will think it’s the best thing since ‘Sliced-bread’ !!

  3. The story actually made the mainstream media today. It is a great advertisement for the book that was written by an Italian journalist with the revelations. It is called “His Holiness” (sorry, I forgot what it is in Italian but it is #1 at both bookstore chains in Italy. Most of the damaging material concerns the Vatican Bank. But some of the “revelations” are actually somewhat amusing—that the Pope wears light green silk underwear embroidered with gold thread. 🙂
