John 10:24
The Jews gathered around him, saying, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly.”
During the feast of «Hannuka», in English translated to the feat of Dedication, the Jews was remembering the Maccabean revolt. Since Jesus said he was the promised Messiah, the Jews expected him to evict the Romans from Israel, just like the Persians had been evicted from Jerusalem 200 years earlier. But the Jews had misunderstood. The Messiah had come to save them from their sin, not rescue them from Earthly oppression. In this World they would face trouble. Jesus came and gave the Jews the real Heavenly Shabbat. Peace with their Father in the eternal Kingdom.
