USD 600 million jackpot the new Golden calf

On Friday the jackpot had increased to USD 640 million. Everyone was hoping to get their hands on some of the winnings.

Both the US lottery and the golden calf represents Lucifer on Earth.

At the Valero station on South Paint Street, store manager Edna Felts said they’ve tripled their sales this week and expect to do well today as the 11 p.m. drawing nears. Store employee Ciera Kuhn said she also has seen a lot of first-time lottery buyers.

“They’re asking how to play and how to pick the numbers,” she said.

Kuhn said she doesn’t usually play, but plans to buy a ticket for tonight’s drawing.

My comment:

They dance around the lotto bong, has given the dance around the golden calf in Sinai a modern day parallel.

 Exodus 32:7-8

Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go down, because your people, whom you brought up out of Egypt, have become corrupt. They have been quick to turn away from what I commanded them and have made themselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. They have bowed down to it and sacrificed to it and have said, ‘These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.’

Jesus was blunt in his teachings about money.

 Matthew 6:24

“No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

The Jewish leaders were not interested to believe in a just Jew as their Messiah. They rather wanted to live under occupation and suppression of the emperor of Rome. Whom they served.

  John 19:15
But they shouted, “Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!” “Shall I crucify your king?” Pilate asked. “We have no king but Caesar,” the chief priests answered.

If you bought the lotto bong yesterday, you have corrupted yourself and have become worldly. You also desire to be the owner of the Golden calf, a slave to sin and the “gambling Caesar”.

  1. Well, while I personally don’t gamble, as I think it is an unwise use of money, I don’t see anything morally wrong with it. Especially in this economy when people are trying to keep their heads above water, the chance to pay all your debts in tempting.

There is no law in the Bible against gambling. There is no Las Vegas. Neither is there any law against pornographic pictures.

But there are verses that tells us to be content with what we have, and to trust Jesus who will give us what we need.

      Ecclesiastes 5:10:

Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income. This too is meaningless.

King David regretted looking at porn. God punished Him, by letting the first son with Urias wife die.

But there are verses in the Bible, that warns us against looking on nude people, and to dress properly.

  2. While I do agree, and gambling at vegas can be construed as idolatry (as any addiction is), buying a $1 lottery ticket for the chance of winning I don’t consider sin. If we were content with what we have, we should never expect a raise at work for example.
Porn on the other hand is definitely something that is forbidden. “commiting adultery in your heart” was spoken on the Sermon on the Mount! But people who are blowing their paychecks on frivolous things like gambling is highly unwise.

When you buy the One dollar lottery bond, you absolutely not desire to win. Absolutely not. That is not your motive.

You only want to do some charity towards the gambling company, so they can have some more profit.

You do not regret that 600 million USD, including your One dollar, can end up in the wrong hands. The winner might be a Nazi, or a drug dealer.

You do not regret, that many people have purchased bonds of 2.000 USD, and let their own children starve.

You are a caretaker of God’s money. Even it its only One USD.

Absolutely all have sinned, and fallen short of the glory of God.

  3. Gambling use to cause men to be put in jail & prison. But since the Powers that be have legalized it, as many other sins have and are legalized for the Governments profit, the masses are duped with a silent drug that replaces their God for the ‘answer’ for only ONE DOLLAR… many have lost family & home, for gambling the lottery years ago… their lives are not restored since this is a ‘legal’ thing. They claim it is Jesus who give it to them to win, they try to make Jesus a respecter of persons! Blasphemy to the gambler & the ones who created it to entice the sheep who bleet for greener grass!

    1. Marwanyafi,

Do you follow the principal duties of Islam — the six articles of faith and the five compulsory works (Five Pillars of Islam)?

  4. If the Church’s were ran the way they ‘tell’ the congregations to live and serve the Lord Jesus, there’d not be a Church on every street corner! I do not say the other religions don’t do this ‘Tax Exempt’ thing on every jot and title, my remark is for The ones who profess to speak ‘Thus saith The Lord’. There are millions of excuses why we in each generation, need to skirt around the Word ‘how to’ so we can get by in this world. I imagine taking care of Spitting Camels were an issue also as the smelly streets of horses dung, before Cars came along. Bottom line, John The Baptist told us ‘to be content with our wages’. Do we need more at times (or want) of course we do, there is also scripture that tells us ‘The Employers call out to God for help because of their need of employees, same as the Employees calling out to God because the employers don’t pay them enough to take care of their families. Truly we need to ‘take heed for what The Word says. We’ll see that we all ‘fall short daily’ before The Lord, and rise high in excuses how to do his Word and get what we want also of the Golden Calf, before His Majesty’s Grace, & Patience! Repentance is sweet only when we drop the World’s excuses and adhere to His Word.( I speak this to my self as well!) Jesus said it’s the intent of our hearts! That’s Powerful!
