Rick Warren honored Bashar and praised “peaceful” Syria

Back in 2006 Rick Warren greeted Bashar al-Ashad. The Saddleback pastor branded Syria as “a moderate nation” who do not “permit extremism”.

Rick Warren gives a gift to Basher al-Assad in Damascus, and praises him for leading a moderate Muslim nation.

After the latest article in the local Newspaper in Orange County California, those who are critical of Rick Warrens interfaith projects with Muslims, are branded by Warren as “I hate Saddleback bloggers”.

Unfortunately for Warren, many of the people he brands as “haters” do not hate anyone. But they do not buy his “PEACE-plan”.

Most of the people Warren portray as enemies of Saddleback, do love Jesus. They also claim that Muhammad is a false prophet.  The truth about Muhammad will probably never come out of Warrens mouth.

Also to Rick Warrens disadvantage: His flattering of Imams and Mosques is recorded on video. Like the video from World Economic Forum in Davos.

There is also a Audio-recording from his visit to Syria in 2006. This audio-tape expose Warren as at best, a be-friend’er of an Islamic dictator. One of the worst enemies of the state of Israel.

Please listen to the audio-clip recorded on the site, and evaluate Warren based on his own words. Under is the transcript:

Rick Warren: November 2006:

“Syria’s a place that has Muslims and Christians living together for 1,400 years. So it’s a lot more peaceful, honestly, than a lot of other places because Christians were here first.

“In fact, you know Saul of Tarsus – Saul was a Syrian. St. Paul, on the road to Damascus, had his conversion experience and so Christians have been here the longest, and they get along with the Muslims and the Muslims get along with them. There’s a lot less tension than in other places.

“It’s a moderate country, and the official government rule and position is to not allow any extremism of any kind.”

The Official Syrian Arab News Agency issued the following report from Rick Warrens visit to Basher al-Assad.

On November 13, 2006, the Syrian Arab News Agency reported as follows in an article, American priest says no peace without Syria:

“American Protestant Pastor Rick Warren on Monday said there was no peace in the region without Syria, noting that 80 percent of the American people rejected what the US Administration is doing in Iraq and considered the US policy in the Mideast as wrong.

“Syria’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Badr al-Din Hassoun received the American Pastor in Damascus in which he referred to the importance of spreading culture of amity, peace and coexistence instead of the ‘clash of civilizations’.

“The Mufti called for conveying the real image of Syria, national unity and its call to spread peace, amity and justice to the American people which the US administration has distorted their image before the world.

“Pastor Warren expressed admiration of Syria and the coexistence he saw between Muslims and Christians, stressing that he will convey this image to his church and country.”

Warren and his delegation also interviewed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to discuss relations between Syria and the USA.

My comment:

Forget about me being critical to Rick Warrens “PEACE- plan”, and please forgive me if I am wrong in my take on Saddleback Church.

I know November 2006 is a long time ago, and that the six day war of 1967 is almost unknown in Christian circles:

But please listen to what Rick Warren has to say, in particular in regards to his finding of “Christians” in Syria:

Where did Rick Warren find them?

Like in Turkey, Evangelical Christianity has been terminated by the followers of Muhammad. In Turkey today, only 0,2 per cent of the Population are Christians.

Officially there are 10 per cent “Christians” in Syria. All of them accept the Papacy in Rome, and accept Islam as a “holy religion”. Like Warren and World Council of Churches (WCC), the Muslims and “Christians” in Syria jointly fight for the liberation of “Palestine”.

They want the Muslims to reoccupy the Golan and take al-Quds (Jeusalem). They want the words of the Koran to go out from a “Palestine” cleansed for Jews.

All who are not blind will be able to see and understand.

  1. Good Morning Ivar,
A huge portion of the “church” has already turned against Israel. I for One am not at all surprised. I can’t say for certain, but this might be part of the end times apostasy that Yeshua spoke of.
We will likely see more embracing of Islam, and hatred towards Israel as the birth pangs quicken. Sadly, jews are used to fair weather friends, like Warren.
I dare say; friendship with Israel is now becoming dangerous and will only worsen with time. I would like to see who stands with Israel at this time next year.

  2. Hello Ivar, Praise the Lord

Here is a quote from an article about Rick Warren,

“The Rev. Rick Warren, pastor of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest and one of America’s most influential Christian leaders, has embarked on an effort to heal divisions between evangelical Christians and Muslims by partnering with Southern California mosques and proposing a set of theological principles that includes acknowledging that Christians and Muslims worship the same God.”

    Notice this,

“…..proposing a set of theological principles that includes acknowledging that Christians and Muslims worship the same God.”

Rick Warren is either incredibly ignorant or a liar and a deceiver. My opinion is liar and deceiver. If he really thinks Muslims and Christians worship the same God he should be removed as pastor and put in Bible study.

    1. I would agree, Dave. As a Southern Baptist trained pastor, it is doubtful that Rick is not aware of just what he is saying. It is frankly heretical (if not downright blasphemous) to say that Christians and Muslims worship the same God. Would our God really encourage the systematic persecution of Jews and Christians? The answer is a resounding NO! Rick Warren is behaving in a very foolish fashion–something Jesus Himself condemns as in His list of “vile” sins in Mark 7:21-23

      1. Hi Ellen,

This kind of stuff sounds good on paper and looks good in practice but the question is, “Are Muslims getting saved?”

        From the article,

“We agreed we wouldn’t try to evangelize each other,” said Turk. “We’d witness to each other but it would be out of ‘Love Thy Neighbor,’ not focused on conversion.”

The heart of “Love Thy Neighbor” is leading people to Christ. We show our love, care and concern for people by telling them about Jesus so they can be converted. We love others like Jesus loved us. He told us we were sinners and needed to repent and believe in Him. We tell others the same thing. This isn’t about being afraid of offending someone or them not liking us or wanting to play soccer with us or have a picnic.

Maybe they are trying to be cautious and inoffensive. Or maybe this just turns into, “We are all nice people and we’re all going to heaven.”

      2. Dear Dave 1543.

Let me underline that Pastor Rick Warren had distanced his self from this pastor Turk. On Warren’s blog, he claim Turk made a written statement based on an open Bible study group. Some Muslims came. All of them sat down and wrote on a paper, some point of similarities between Christianity and Islam. Warren again says about those who say Saddleback has entered muddy waters: “These are falls accusations. I am not for Chrislam”.

After listening to the records of Warrens visit to Damascus to greet Bashar al-Assad in 2006, I again see a man of double standards and baloney talk. I do not trust Warren. I will take the full responsibility for not doing so.

  3. Here is another piece from the article,

    ” ….one of America’s most influential Christian leaders….”

    End quote.

That is true. What really matters is if he is one of heavens most respected leaders.

  4. The Old & New Testament speak of ‘this spirit’ several times! Rick
Warren loves the praise of men and money more than Jesus Christ! Pharaoh and Warren teaming up together is like Satan teaming up with an atheist and calling it ‘Salvation’. This was a huge clue when Pharaoh got Rick Warren to ‘bless him on Inauguration Day…FACT.Oh yeah this is all in the workings of the Latter Days. What ever they want they will get! Revelation explains clearly what these want and that God will give them the power to ‘over-come the saints’.

  5. This nonsense that we worship one God is blasphemy. Are they accusing Jesus of being a sex maniac? Believe it or not but male Moslens believe that when they die they receive 72 virgins in heaven. The Christian God says. Thou shalt not commit fornication and adultery. Is this why so many Christians are rushing to become Moslems? Jesus has gone to prepare a place for us. Imagine 1 billion Moslems in heaven. It would mean that Jesus would have to create 72 billion virgins. What happens to their wives. Will they become female eunuchs and supervise the harem?
