Update: Iranian Navy Warships have crossed the Suez Canal

Iranian Navy warships have crossed the Suez Canal

Israel was keeping an eye Tuesday on two Iranian Navy warships that crossed the Suez Canal for the first time in over 30 years.

This is a belligerent move that Israel claims is an attempt by the Islamic Republic to project its power throughout the Middle East.

The two ships – the Khark which has 250 crew members and can carry three helicopters and the Alvand which is armed with torpedoes and anti-ship missiles – entered the Suez Canal early Tuesday morning and arrived in the Mediterranean Sea by the evening.

Israeli defense officials said that the ships did not pose a threat to the Israeli Navy which would be watching them from a distance and would not engage them. The Iranian ships will pass Israel at a distance as they make their way towards Syria where they are expected to dock for several months.

“This is a major provocation,” a senior defense official said. “We will keep an eye on the ships.”

The ships sailed through the canal en route to Syria in what Israeli officials say is a provocation by the Iranian regime. It’s the first time Iranian military vessels have sailed into the Mediterranean since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. The ships reportedly paid about $300,000 in fees for the passage

Vice prime minister, Silvan Shalom, told reporters the move is part of an Iranian struggle “against the West for hegemony and control in the Middle East.” He said Iran’s goal is to show the Arab world “who the new leader is in the Middle East.”

Egypt apparently apparently had no choice but to grant the ships passage because an international convention regulating shipping says the canal must be open “to every vessel of commerce or of war.” Egypt also cannot search naval ships passing through the waterway.

My Comment:

It is very devious and underhanded of Iran to know that Egypt had to grant their ships passage because of an international convention regulation. Couple that with the fact Egypt cannot search Iran’s “naval” ships, and you have a recipe for disaster in the making.

It begs the question what detrimental items are in that ship, and how can Syria and Iran use it to attack Israel. Surely, Iran’s “we only have building supplies on our ship” excuse has been used one too many times.

I also don’t see it as a coincidence that an earthquake shook up the Suez Canal Monday morning. Our Messiah is in control of it all. You can be sure that Israel is watching this closely, and more importantly Jesus Christ, Our King.

Isaiah 17

1 A prophecy against Damascus:

“See, Damascus will no longer be a city
but will become a heap of ruins.
2 The cities of Aroer will be deserted
and left to flocks, which will lie down,
with no one to make them afraid.
3 The fortified city will disappear from Ephraim,
and royal power from Damascus;
the remnant of Aram will be
like the glory of the Israelites,”
declares the LORD Almighty.

    1. Dear Richard.

      Shalom.

The last war on Israel, is not going to be fought by 2 Iranian Battle ships alone. If the Israeli air force choose to act, these two ships would be lying on the sea bed as we speak.

The interesting story today, is that Egypt has for the last 30 years, refused to give Iran permission to go through the Suez with war ships. The “Revolution” in Egypt, suddenly changed that. Now, Cairo and Tehran will soon come into agreement. “Death to Israel”.

Neither the Israeli Government nor Evangelical friends of Israel can block God of the Bible’s plans. ALL nations shall raise against Israel, and face judgment. Israel will also have to pay for not repented sins. They are many. A small minority in Israel are Messianic, and have been washed by the blood of the Lamb of God, Jesus the Messiah.

  1. Last war? Do you subscribe to the opinion that the war of Psalm 83 has already occured?

I agree with you the Iranian ships are commical nothing more than annoying misquitoes to Israel. If I were Iran I would be scared silly over the Israeli nuclear subs sitting in the persian gulf waiting for the call to release their missles.

I think the only reason Mubarack “did not” allow the Iranian ships through the canal over the last 30 plus years was because he was told not to by the US. No sense in jeopardizing your billions in annual US aid.

I tend to agree with the previous comments that Iran will encourage Hezbollah as well as surrounding countries to attack Israel to take the pressure off the rallies with in their own countries.

War is coming to Israel shortly but rest assured the surrounding invaders will be squashed like flies. Although Israel may have heavy casualties lets hope and pray they will not.

Lets be honest no country in the middle east wants peace with Israel.

    1. Dear Richard.

      Shalom.

There are two major different opinions. One is that the Gog and Magog war is not the final battle, and one is that it will be. This war is mentioned both in Ezekiel and the book of Revelation. In the book of Revelations, is is mentioned almost at the end.

      Revelation 20:8
and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—and to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore.

Israel has battled many wars for its survival. In the last, she will be alone. But God on the Most High will send His Son. Do not worry. There is victory at the end of all silliness of man.

    2. Also note that the verse Ivar speaks of (Rev 20:8), does not take place until after the 1000 years, and the second resurrection (the resurrection of the lost), has taken place. I think it’s evident that war will be upon Israel shortly, but I suspect we shall be seeing more conflicts in the near future.

      1. Dear Steve

        Shalom.

When I saw the pictures of the long lines of burnt military tanks and lorries in the Sinai desert in 1967 and 1973 wars, it was an eye opener. There were miles and miles with judgment from God, using the IDF to bring swift death and destruction of the ungodly and the truth mockers of Islam. It was like the fire of Sodom had struck them, close to the place Sodom once up on a time was standing.

Fire from Heaven. The Gog and Magog war might be behind us, and the final battle of Armageddon ahead. I might be wrong. But Israels history from 1948 to 2011, is full of agony and pain for the enemies of God. The wars of 1948, 1967 and 1973 can not be used as examples in any war academy. They simply does not make sense from a Military point of view.
