Are the Egyptian’s “God’s people”. When were they, or will they become when the Messiah returns?
Being a Christian Zionist, I see many of my brothers using this teaching of Isaiah to explain that “Egypt will be lifted up in glory”. One of the teachers who writes this kind of messages, are Malcolm Hedding, the executive director of the International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem.
These are the concerned Bible verses, and my explanation why Hedding is wrong:
“In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. The Assyrians will go to Egypt and the Egyptians to Assyria. The Egyptians and Assyrians will worship together. In that day Israel will be the third, along with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing on the earth. The LORD Almighty will bless them, saying, “Blessed be Egypt my people, Assyria my handiwork, and Israel my inheritance.”
“Blessed be Egypt my people”, is a prophecy that was fulfilled 1.500 years ago. In 500 A.D there was a highway from Egypt, through Israel to Assyria. It was during the rule of the Christian Eastern Byzantine Empire. The Egyptians were set free from pagan oppressors, and their new rulers were Christians. For some time.
To apply this prophecy of Isaiah to the Millenium reign of Jesus, is to delete 1.400 years of Islam. Before the false Prophet Muhammad came and deceived the sons of daughters of Ishmael, they were “God’s people”.
But after Islam took over The Arabian World, these nations have raised children of the devil, followers of the desert demon “allah”.
Many Evangelical Christians are not aware of the map of the Byzantine Empire, and the ancient highway in the Middle East. Please take a look at the attached map.
After the Pagan Roman Empire fell in 476 A.D, Jerusalem was ruled by several Christian Kings for a handful of generations. Than came the takeover of Islam, and in 1099 A.D the rule of the anti-Christian Papacy.
To claim that today’s Egyptians on the second coming of Jesus will be hailed as “My people” is in my understanding of history and scripture, a faulty and dangerous use of the Prophetic Word.
Who built the highway from Alexandria to Damascus?
Was there a time when both Egyptians, Jews and Syrians were worshiping Jesus and King, living inside the same statehood?
The concerned highway was built by the Roman Empire. When the Byzantine kings came to power, the people of Egypt and the Assyrians worshiped the King of Kings together. They were living inside the same Kingdom, that also included Jerusalem. Just as Isaiah had written, 1000 years earlier.
