Faulty use of prophecy by Christian Zionists

Are the Egyptian’s “God’s people”. When were they, or will they become when the Messiah returns?

Egyptian Muslims praying to the desert demon "allah" are not "god's people". And will never be.

Being a Christian Zionist, I see many of my brothers using this teaching of Isaiah to explain that “Egypt will be lifted up in glory”. One of the teachers who writes this kind of messages, are Malcolm Hedding, the executive director of the International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem.

These are the concerned Bible verses, and my explanation why Hedding is wrong:

Isaiah 19:20-25

“In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. The Assyrians will go to Egypt and the Egyptians to Assyria. The Egyptians and Assyrians will worship together.  In that day Israel will be the third, along with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing on the earth. The LORD Almighty will bless them, saying, “Blessed be Egypt my people, Assyria my handiwork, and Israel my inheritance.”

“Blessed be Egypt my people”, is a prophecy that was fulfilled 1.500 years ago. In 500 A.D there was a highway from Egypt, through Israel to Assyria. It was during the rule of the Christian Eastern Byzantine Empire. The Egyptians were set free from pagan oppressors, and their new rulers were Christians. For some time.

To apply this prophecy of Isaiah to the Millenium reign of Jesus, is to delete 1.400 years of Islam. Before the false Prophet Muhammad came and deceived the sons of daughters of Ishmael, they were “God’s people”.

But after Islam took over The Arabian World, these nations have raised children of the devil, followers of the desert demon “allah”.

Many Evangelical Christians are not aware of the map of the Byzantine Empire, and the ancient highway in the Middle East. Please take a look at the attached map.

After the Pagan Roman Empire fell in 476 A.D, Jerusalem was ruled by several Christian Kings for a handful of generations. Than came the takeover of Islam, and in 1099 A.D the rule of the anti-Christian Papacy.

The highway from Egypt, through Jerusalem to Damascus was build by pagan Romans, taken over by Christian Byzantine Kings.

To claim that today’s Egyptians on the second coming of Jesus will be hailed as “My people” is in my understanding of history and scripture, a faulty and dangerous use of the Prophetic Word.

Who built the highway from Alexandria to Damascus?

Was there a time when both Egyptians, Jews and Syrians were worshiping Jesus and King, living inside the same statehood?

The concerned highway was built by the Roman Empire. When the Byzantine kings came to power, the people of Egypt and the Assyrians worshiped the King of Kings together.  They were living inside the same Kingdom, that also included Jerusalem. Just as Isaiah had written, 1000 years earlier.

  1. Ivar,
How are you? Just a question, what if Isaiah 19:20-25 is a reference to after the Messiah sets up His kingdom and is speaking of the time of the Millennial reign of Christ and not for today and that only 19:1-17 may be what were seeing unfold in Egypt today ? This could be a dual prophecy and 18-25 is still future prophecy. I dont know if you believe in dual prophecies or not. Hope this makes sense. Just looking for your opinion.

    1. Dear Awatchman4Him.

      Shalom.

My question is very simply: Is there salvation for the wicked in the Messianic Age? Or will they be judged, for not accepting the blood of Jesus, and receive Him before His second coming.

If the view of Malcolm Hedding is right, than Jesus death on the cross is rather pointless. And Christian mission is utter foolishness. The wicked will get a chance to be saved, anyhow, even if they kill and martyrs all Christian missionaries there is.

This end time view seems to include a “Dual salvation covenant”, that is a dangerous kind of rejection of the cross.

      Than to your question:

Yes, i believe a prophecy can be understood and fit into different sections of World History. But the cross does not have a dual meaning.

  2. There is no second chance for any man! For Jesus comes to judge the living and the dead. This the apostles preached Acts10:42, 2Tim4:1

The number 1000 years is symbolical to the present reign of Christ. wherein He is placing in Subjection all His enemies. The Last enemy being death To be revealed at the resurrection where upon all man shall be judged Jn5:22, Dan12:2.

  3. First, the prophecy cannot apply to the Byzantine era, since it requires three nations to be in place – Egypt, Assyria and Israel. Now are you saying that the Byzantines were Israel? Nonsense – Israel was in exile at the time, so Ivar’s interpretation is plain silliness.

It indeed refers to the Millennial age when the survivors in the surrounding nations – after they have been judged and witness the return of the Lord up-close – are among the first to accept Messiah’s lordship over the entire earth.

This interpretation does not lapse into “dual covenant” or diminish the centrality of the Cross in any way, and it has nothing to do with second chances.
Those who are in Christ will already be in their new bodies at His coming. But the Bible in several places suggests that there will be non-believers in their old bodies who survive into the Millennium, such as the references to Messiah ruling with a “rod of iron” – see for instance Rev. 2:25-27. Why would He need to rule like that if all are saved. Zechariah 14 also suggests that nations will be capable of disobedience during the Millennium by not coming up to Jerusalem for the Feast of Tabernacles each year. It is probably for this reason that Satan is unleashed at the end of the age for one last testing of those still unredeemed. God does not want to live in eternity with anyone who has not freely chosen Him.

    1. Dear David.

Shalom, and welcome to this site.

Let us first agree that this is a challenging prophecy, and that more than a single person might have to admit some kind of silliness.

Could it be that “Israel in exile” make this prophecy unfit to the Christian Byzantine rule?

The physical Israel was surely a blessing in 500 A.D. Zion had not moved anywhere. Neither had Egypt or Assyria. In regards to the “people of Israel”, they were also found in exile in Egypt and Assyria. And they surely worshiped the King of Kings all together.

There has always been a remnant of the people of Israel, inside Zion at all ages. And since there was a highway, Jews of this age could also move up to Jerusalem.

      1. Dear David

        Shalom.

        Dear David

        Zechariah 14 18:19.

If the Egyptian people do not go up and take part, they will have no rain. The LORD will bring on them the plague he inflicts on the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles. This will be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles.

        (end of scripture)

There is no doubt that this Prophecy is from the Messianic age, after the return of Jesus. But the wicked coming up to Jerusalem seems to be result of some kind of force, not a premium for past good behavior. Unlike in Isaiah 19:20-25, where God of the Bible seems to be rejoicing over something good that has taken place in the nations of Israel, Egypt and Assyria.

My take of Zechariah 14 18:19, is that judgment has come and will take place in Jerusalem. Iron rod rule is not going to be pleasant. He rules with those who believed in Him, not those who are objects of this iron rule.

    2. Dear David.

      My reply:

What comes after judgment? A second chance for the cursed? This is in my opinion not at all Biblical.

      Matthew 25:41
“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

  4. This was an interesting debate. I have many times wondered about this prophecy. I didn’t know about the 500 AD history. Do you have any sources where I can study this more?

I personally think Isiah 19:19-24 is speaking about the 1000 year reign, when Jesus will rule with a rod of iron, but also have a world-wide physical and peaceful kingdom.

    1. Dear Martin.

      Shalom.

There is a gap of almost 2.000 years from 70.AD up till today. Many of the prophecies in the Bible are already fulfilled. Malcolm Hedding is a Bible teacher who say that two third of the Prophetic Word is about the second coming of Jesus. I disagree.

Some teachers say that all that is written from chapter 4 in the book of Revelation, will take place after the rapture of the Church. I disagree.

In regards to the Messianic Age: To proclaim a “rule with Iron rod” and “peace and love” on Earth, is in my ears a contradiction. Jesus is not coming back to give anyone a second chance. He is coming back to bring Judgment. Everyone will be judged by what they have done, not what they will do when they face Him. There might be “peace” in the courthouse, when Jesus sends those who are cursed into the eternal flames of Hell.

      My reply:

I do not know everything about all prophecies. I do make mistakes. But I can also make a case for what I believe is right.

If you want to know that will take place in Jerusalem in the future, you need to know what has already happened in the past. History do not necessarily have to repeat it self.

There have been Christians Kings in Jerusalem who has honored the King of Kings. There has been a highway from Alexandria to Damascus through Jerusalem during a Christian Kingdom in the past.

To push all these fulfilled promises into the Messianic Age is dangerous. Because that will not be the age of grace, but the age of Judgment.

  5. Why do you claim the Egyptian name for “Allah” is a demonic name, “Egyptian Muslims praying to the desert demon “allah” are not “god’s people”. And will never be, when in the Aramaic Peshitta the same name different, spelling appears, “Alaha”.
I have read that Mohammed was so impressed by the Jews and their Aramaic scriptures in his day. As Aramaic was dying out Arabic became the Language of the day. So he translated the Aramaic into Arabic, and created the Koran. It eventually died out when Old Greek became popular.
I have had Iraqi muslims staying as students and find them to be
lukewarm, and Egyptian muslims that stayed, very disciplined in their belief.Very genuine. The muslims are descendants of Abraham’s son Ishmael, but the covenant was made between GOD and Abraham, regarding Isaac and his descendants to follow. God made Ishmael’s people a great race, who’s hand would always be against each other. They were to be wild men, according to Genesis.

  6. Proven scientific evidence, and Physical fact may be a Christian’s undoing. Muslim’s claim in their many books, there are teeth marks in a foetus, another BBC report? I saw claims at a certain stage a foetus has a reptillian tail.
David Icke and others claim many politicians are Satanists ruled over by Reptillians pretending to be Human. “Blue bloods”.
I believe what you read and how YOU interpret it depends on what version you read. I believe there is a counterfeit book AND form of Christianity in the world, to sucker all into accepting the false religion when the NWO is finally established! And the Zionist protocols admit they have given a false version of doctrines to keep us “GOYIM” dumb/As we are merely “cattle to be slaughtered”!
