A group of more than 100 scientists and experts say in a new report that California faces the risk of a massive “superstorm”.
This “superstorm” could flood a quarter of the state’s homes and cause $300 billion to $400 billion in damage. Researchers point out that the potential scale of destruction in this storm scenario is four or five times the amount of damage that could be wrought by a major earthquake.
It sounds like the plot of an apocalyptic action movie, but scientists with the U.S. Geological Survey warned federal and state emergency officials that California’s geological history shows such “superstorms” have happened in the past, and should be added to the long list of natural disasters to worry about in the Golden State.
Brazil The death toll from flash floods and mudslides in Rio de Janeiro’s picturesque Serrana region reached 702 Tuesday, a number that is likely to rise further in one of Brazil’s worst natural disasters on record.
Authorities say many residents in the region are still missing — some believed to be buried. Hundreds of people are still in areas at risk of fresh mudslides, some cut off from help by washed out roads and bridges while others refuse to leave for fear their houses will be looted.
Australia Authorities told townspeople in Australia’s southeast to flee homes with three days of supplies Wednesday as a surging river threatened another community in a flooding crisis that has devastated the country’s mining industry.
Up to 1,500 homes in Kerang, in the north of Victoria state, could be affected if the Lodden River rises any further. The flooding in Victoria follows weeks of massive flooding in northeastern Queensland, which swamped two-thirds of the giant state, paralyzed several mines and left 30 people dead.
With floods hitting the world, death toll rising, and a possible superstorm in California, I suspect that many are worrying what to do. To worry, I think is a human reaction that is instantaneous, but the Word of God warns us that difficult times as these must happen.
2 Timothy 3:1
But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty.
And difficult times are definitely here. In just this week alone, earthquakes have struck Alaska, Georgia (Sak’art’velo), Chile, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, and scientists are warning that an inevitable big earthquake will hit the Mediterranean.
“For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes.”
Our Messiah Jesus Christ warned us in advance that such things are to happen. How do we prepare ourselves for the coming hard times?
So be on your guard; I have told you everything ahead of time.
With each day that passes, signs will become more frequent. Jesus Christ tells us not to worry but to seek his kingdom, and he will give you everything you need. Hard times like this, We Must leave everything in the hands of Our Savior, because Our King is the only one who is truly there for us.
So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
